Luke fights for his rights
Next week’s episode, Merry Fisticuffs, is (to me) all about Luke’s fight for the things that mean the most to him.
Luke has had a turning point in his life. He has realized that he can’t just sit back any longer and be the nice guy who is there for everyone, except himself. He needs to fight for what he loves.
And fight he will.

Luke will fight for April. And he will fight for Lorelai.
Go Luke!

LUKE LUKE LUKE!!!!!
i am glad that he finally realized that he has to fight for what he wants. he let lorelai walk away in the season 6 finale, and he didnt fight for her back, except for when he asked her to elope and when he punched chris. then, he says that they just werent right together, even though he knows that he wants her back. now, finally, he knows what to do! KICK CHRIS’ A** LUKE!!! HE DESERVES IT!!!!

Still hoping Chris and Lorelai will make their marriage work - fighting isn’t the way to solve anything. Communication, kids, communication. Have to side with Emily on this one. Take your commitments seriously Lorelai!

Oh great, now Luke’s going to turn into a homewrecker. He lost his chance to fight. Now he should respect her marriage. If it should fail… then he’ll have his chance again.

I’m so excited that Luke has finally grown a spine and is fighting for all the things in his life that makes him happy. Even though it has taken him a while to realize it, he’s going to do something about it. It doesn’t even matter if he fights with Christopher, you can already tell that Lorelai is thinking that this marriage isn’t going to last. She doesn’t want the party Emily and Richard are going to throw her… if they have the party and they get a divorce, it’s another HUGE step back in her relationship with her parents. She is very hesitant about showing him off in Star’s Hallow because she knows that everyone wants her to be with Luke and that Christopher doesn’t fit in, in Stars Hallow. Christopher and Lorelai’s marriage may have been 20+ years in the making, but that might be the problem… it’s too little too late!

StarC! I love your comment and totally utterly agree with you!!
Yes, I’m loving Luke has grown a spine. BUT throwing down a punch is completely counterproductive and immature! The two kind of cancel each other out in my mind.
And I know that most people out there hate Chris and are talking how he ruined everything between L&L, but cmon you guys..it’s Lorelai who was outside Chris’ door at the end of Season 6. Chris had nothing to do with the second half of problems between L&L.
We don’t know what happened behind those closed doors. What we do know is that Lorelai considered the relationship over between Luke, and that is what she most likely told Chris. And we don’t know who made the first move on whom.
Think of the situation in real life. It’s Lorelai that made the decision. We did not see Chris forcing Lorelai into bed. SHE walked into his apartment.

Whatever happened, it didn’t have to turn out the way it did. Yes, Lorelai made the mistake of going there and walking into his appartment, but he took advantage of that; but, also of course, it takes two to tango… Lorelai, Chris, AND Luke all were in the wrong and played a part in the mess that has been this season (although slowly but surely somehow getting better…)

This weeks episode is going to be the he most important i think. Luke is going to finally going to kick Chris butt. Chris has ruined enough. He rushed Lorelai into marriage, which we can tell she is really not happy, he is ruining the relationship between Lorelai and Rori, and now he is going to try and ruin Lorelai and Lukes new friendship. I dont think so. Im happy about this episode. Also April cant move away because then Luke and Lorelai just practicly ruined a marriage over something that is going to leave (April) I dont think so. GO LUKE GO LUKE!!!

i am sorry but chris and lorelair are awful with eachother. i am so glad luke is finally standing up for the things he loves.
i would hate it if april moved away because luke loves her so much. i think the first step to reuniting luke and lorelai is getting rid of christopher. if uke loves lorelai, he wont let april stand in the way. now lorelai needs to dump chris for luke.
and for the fight i think luke will have absolutley no problems kickcing the crap out of chris.

Doesn’t anyone even entertain the thought that perhaps Anna and Luke are supposed to get back together. The Palladino’s brought April into the equation last year, which really didn’t thrill me but there it is….and Anna even looks a little like Lorelai! I too feel Lorleai and Christopher are soul mates. Why can’t they all be friends!
mollie
Dec 3, 2006 at 2:14 pm
i don’t think anna and luke are supposed to get back together because they are always yelling at each other. if anna really did still love luke ther are a few things she would have done.
1 tell luke about being pregnant then maybe they would have married
2 not move to new mex
3 not always yell at him adn give him a hairy eyeball.
see and we all know luke dosn’t love anna. the only time that i aculay thought that anna migh still have feelings for luke is that first time he went to her house in “perfect dress” and she was standing in the door alomost drooling. and then it was just small talk.

According to fanforum, the chuppah is still at Babbettes!!! The same place it’s been since season 2!!! It still exists!! I somehow find that encouraging!!! :crosses fingers: can’t wait ’til tomorrow night!!!!

the chuppah was never at babbettes!! it is off ot the side of the gilmore’s house! (i refuse to say hayden!)

Dec 4, 2006 at 2:39 pm
Well, maybe it’s technically at Lorelai’s, it’s just being stored at Babbette’s for the show. That’s what I meant by that. But again, I reinforce the fact that IT’S STILL THERE, as in STILL AVAILABLE AS A PROP!!! :)

YESSSSSSSS freaking love that chuppah. LOVE the scene with L&L standing under it. Amazing! Now just add a beautiful wedding dress, all of Stars Hollow, and Rory as the maid of honor and we’ve got ourselves a PERFECT SERIES FINALE. :)

well, if this was a vote, with the “l&l” party and the “l&c” party, i probably would be one of the “undecided” voters…
for the “l&c” party:
i don’t think that Lorelai is unhappy in her marriage, just afraid of how it is perceived (it was rushed, after all); you can see both of them trying really hard to fit in the other’s way of life, and there’s communication between them, sign of a healthy marriage; i don’t think chris is affecting lorelai’s and rory’s relationship, rory did say that she was happy that both of her parents were married (who wouldn’t like that?), but only was upset that she wasn’t there when it happenned; luke made a huge mistake by not involving lorelai, his wife to be, in with his new life with april, and has to attain to the consequences of his actions; and it was lorelai’s decision to go to chris’ after arguing with luke. so, yeah, in this sense, go chris…
for the “l&l” party:
chris did know about lorelai and luke’s engagement in season 6’s finale, but went along with it (you can see the look of regret in lore’s face at the end), if he had any kind of respect for lore and luke, he would just have been there for her, as a friend, not as a lover, so booh!; he rushed lorelai to get married even though he promised to wait, why rush? i think that this hints that chris feared lore and luke getting back together if he didn’t act quickly, discrediting their “marriage”: he may not completely trust her feelings (and the promos confirm this); luke waited for her for so long, l&c’ marriage may have been 20 years in the making, but l&l’s is not that far off, luke actually saw rory grow up! so, yeah, in this sense, go luke…
you can see that i’m completey divided here: more reasons to vote l&c, but bigger reasons to vote l&l… help! hehe

Um I can help you…
Luke and Lorelai are SOUL MATES. Situational issues don’t matter. The emotions do, and it is so, so obvious that Luke and Lorelai always have and always will love each other.

right, thanks tara. it is also true that lore has come back to chris many times before, hinting strong feelings for him (lore has told him that he loves him many times now), so their relationship also works from the emotions “point of view”; i would really like to give lore more credit in the fact that she is taking her marriage seriously, just a little ashamed of it because of all the rushness… i need to point a dialogue that lore had with the psychiatrist that chris was getting hooked up with, Linny, before the arguement with luke:
Linny: So, what you gonna do? Only you can make you wait. Nobody else can. You need to decide what you want and what you’re willing to give up to get it. And then you’ve got to be okay with that. Or you’ve got to be okay with waiting.
Lorelai: I could lose him if I pushed too hard.
Linny: You don’t really seem to have him now. At least not the way you want to have him. You won’t get anything unless you ask for it. Then if you ask for it and you don’t get it, maybe it wasn’t worth having in the first place. Some things are just never meant to be. No matter how much we wish they were.
Lorelai: Can only imagine what you could do if you had a couch.
i think that this dialogue also can be directed at the viewers. which brings me to allison: i’m really trying to open my eyes in this whole matter, are you?
i’m not a chris-and-lorelai fan (like i’ve said before, i’m more of an undecided), and i have to admit, i like more the luke-and-lorelai relationship, don’t know why, i just do (maybe it was the dialogues that the Palladino brought to it, which is not there anymore)… but i don’t think that you’re giving it (chris-and-lorelai situation) enough chance/credit; hell, maybe it won’t work after all and lorelai would be free to go back with luke, but, given that, wouldn’t you feel better to think that “at least they tried, and now lore’s certain that chris is not the one to marry” then “good! now get back with your soulmate!”?

I have to say about the Luke and Lorelei relationship is that Luke has always been there for her over all these years. He has been there through all of her different relationships. He has watched Rory grow up.
Also, remember how miserable they both were when they broke up the first time? Do you ever remember Christopher being that sad about their relationship?
About April, I love that they are showing Luke as a father figure. I guess it was just hard for Lorelei to accept that Luke had a daughter, but he never seemed to care that Rory was there. That doesn’t make to much sense though. Of course, as I said before, he watched Rory grow. Heck, he went to her graduation.
Also, did you see Lorelei’s face at the end of The Proposal, after Christopher said, “Welcome Home, Mrs. Hayden”. She got her look of “What did I do?” That isn’t normal…

i have really tried to give c&l a chance, but i don’t think they are tight for eachtoher. and i think lorelai is starting to realize that. l&l are just meant to be.that is really all there is to it. since hte very beginning, they have been hinting at a relationship between l&l.and yeah luke messed it up, but he deserves a second chance.
i love hat luke is fighting for april. luke loves april so much that he gave up april for her. he is a great dad. when christoopher wasn’t there wwhen rory was growing up, luke was like her fill in dad. he also great with doolah. he takes great care of april. he deserves to have at least partial custody of april.
i thouoght the episdoe was great.
