This season is like a soap opera… I only watch the episodes, bacause I’m a fan, and I want to know what happens. But I watch them once, and that’s it. It’s not like the previous seasons, which I want to see over and over again, bacause the dialogues are funny and there are a lot of moving, emotional or crazy scenes, and I can watch those episodes ten times, and they’re still entertaining.
So, I’m not happy with the show right now, I hope it gets better… I go back to my DVDs :)

OMG, i was totally thinking that this season seems like a soap opera.. I 100% agree with dolphin about everything. how weird, i started watching my DVDs and the dialogue in no way compares to this season, it seems like everyone got hit with a stupid stick or something, idk? i am watching because i’m a die hard fan and i love them, but also because i wanna luke and lorelai to get back together. the fight between luke and lorelai seemed so out of place for GG!! what is going on?

Emily is so right with her statement at the end of the vid: “A ring is no guaranty…” I totally agree this time with emily

I wish that Luke and Lorelai can just get back together already. We all pretty much know that they will. ” oy with the Poodles Already”!

dolphin, i agree with you completely. this season is nothing like the old ones, though i do admit, they took a tiny step forward in “knit, people, knit”, but they took a step back in this episode. but, then again, the chirs and lorelai marriage problems are making things better. but it is still not like the old seasons. i could watch those episodes over and over again and not get bored with them. but this year, once or twice is enough for me and i dont want to see it again. but i a, extremely excited for episode 13!! chris out, luke in!!

i totally agree with the dolphin entry
it is true the show is not funny anymore i mean wen ever i was feeling down i would watch gg and the funny parts would cheer me up now it doesnt because its like a soap opera wich i dont like as much its all about luke or chris and lorelais love life wen the whole reason the show started was because of the mother daughter relationship and lorelai and rory barely hang out any more yes sometimes on the phone but not like they did before i know shes in college and busy but its making me sad to watch the show im not even excited to watch it anymore i used to like have to control myself wen a new eps came on but not anymore
but my point is gg is different now and its sad :(

I don’t know, I think the writing and the plotline has been getting progressively better since “French Twist.” For me, French Twist was the low point in terms of writing. But now that there’s finally some DRAMA I’m starting to warm to the show again. Don’t get me wrong, I hate how things are for the characters right now. Chris is passive agressive and Lorelei has yet to see that she is not in a good relationship. But I can’t deny that it isn’t a good plot mechanism. Drama is what makes tv go round.

DR is just getting the hang the hand of writing the show by himself and we have seen all characters evlove and become real people and for rory and lorelai that means not ALWAYS hanging together. there is at least one high point for me is that luke didn’t get suroius with another women yet. he had the one date with april’s swim coach but he isn’t married, dating or thinking about any other lady besideds is ex-fiance lorelai.

    I agree with Rosemarie…..

Yes Rory should have mentioned the situation to Logan before now, and should n’t have gone along with Marty’s pretence, BUT LOGAN IS A SELFISH JERK!!

Marty has been creepy towards Rory, she didn’t know how to handle it, and she seemed to value these female friendships,so didn’t rock the boat. She was starting to have her own independance, a Yale life outside of Logan….who was already threatened by her moving out, havinf her own friends, and starting to grow a backbone

Some people think aaaah isn’t it sweet he’s jealous….no this guy IS A BULLY…period. He always looked down on Marty in series 5 he saw him as a bartender only, and Rory followed Logan and co to the restaurant, poor Marty was condescended too, bur Rory was still impressed by Logan!!

    He’s like Chris a snob…”the farmer” No it’s Jackson….”the Diner Guy”….no it’s Luke, they’re people

Logan was already being patronising at the meal, “Thats a lot of jobs MY BOY” Where does he get off!!!

Marty is a Yale graduate works hard for his position, unlike Logan. I’m glad he said what he did about the trust fund, because Logans “business” skills are all bought, he has daddys money to buy with, daddy’s company name for a reputation and a good team to assist him, bought by Daddy!!! GOOD ON MARTY for saying that!

The most upsetting thing, was that he willingly killed 2 birds with one stone….he got rid of Rory’s new support network, and put down Marty for calling out the truth. He does not like people not idolizing him…especially someone poor

He willingly hurt Rory, and left her alone with no apology for doing this, he wants her friendless and spineless to pine for him and worship him……he’s always been like this, and she keeps going back to him.

I JUST DON’T UNDERSTAND HOW ANY OF YOU CAN LIKE LOGAN?

what i dont like is how they made chris so nice and understanding and a good person in the begining of the season and then in this eps they made him act like a total jerk

Finally!! i totally agree with mary!!
its true chris was a good guy in all the seasons yes he did destroy rory and lorelais life and i hated him before and i was so with luke i loved luke and lorelai as a couple they were so perfect but wen luke started acting like a jerk with the whole april and post poning the wedding thing and wen i saw how sad lorelai was in the eps i get a sidekick out of you thats wen i started to hate luke and i turned to chris, then wen lorelai asked luke to elope and he let her go i hated him i mean he could have at least stopped her and talked to her and try to convince her not to elope yet, if he really wanted to marry her he would have stopped her, than i wanted to see chris and lorelai as a couple and they were awesome he made her really happy but now they just twisted his character like really fast and i got mad i mean how rude!! i dont want her to go back to luke after all he did she should just dump both of them and find someone else

DR is a total hack. ASP was the heart, soul and intelligence of the show.

yea it’s not the same without the old writers the new writers\directors are messing everything, and i know luke and lorelai will be broken up for this season but.and i wish lorelai and luke could get married and chris out of the picture.I hate how logan said that marty and rory had already knew eachother before, and lucy got all mad,and now, logan and rory need to break up

  • mollie
    Dec 10, 2006 at 12:40 pm

i’m thinking right now that DR will pull the show out another seaason and have the sires closer have some kind of strong luke lorelai rory family moment.

and then he will use rory’s college graduation to bring l&l back together

Stop hating on DR. The shows are improving, right? It seems like he’s really taking the feedback that people are putting out, and sure ASP was really good, but she left, okay? Sure the older season were good, but I think this season still has potential, so stop being so pesimistic and start looking at the good sides of the season.

[…] I’ve finally seen snippets of “Merry Fisticuffs”. Anna & Luke fight, Christopher & lorelai fight, Logan & Rory fight, Rory & that one annoying new girl fight, Christopher & Luke actually fist fight. The clip is 8 minutes long but seems to be all of the important parts. My recap: I really like fighting. […]

La, the show’s only improvement so far was episode “knit, people, knit”, which was the episode before merry fisticuffs, but then in this episode i feel they have taken a step back.

Chris and Lorelai argue over saying vows at the party and about their future. Luke calls a lawyer about his rights as April’s father. There will be a more satisfying Luke/Chris fight. Logan reveals Marty & Rory’s friendship to Lucy. Emily warns Lorelai about her marriage. More…[Spoiler & Video Trailer][Recap][Pictures][Video Clips] […]

I recently re-watched all the GG seasons and I have to say that I was remise in my knowledge that a new writer had appeared. It completely explains the dramatic difference in the characters.

I hate that Luke and Lorelai, after waiting for 5 seasons to finally get together, broke up so quickly. It was way out of character for Luke to act the way he did towards Lorelai with the whole April thing after pineing for her for so long.

Likewise, it seems out of character for Lorelai to just sit back and take what Luke was dishing out. This new writer should have watched all the preceeding episodes BEFORE writing any!

[Personal note: my fiance and I have been watching GG and after Lorelia and Chris reunited and Luke was out of the picture he refuses to watch any more.]

I’m looking forward to the new episodes, though. After reading the brief descriptions of the upcoming episodes it appears that the new writer has at least been listening to the fans and is trying to rectify the script.
