Early Spoiler for Episode 7.11: "Santa’s Secret Stuff", which will air on January 23, 2007
Rory returns from the Holidays in London with Logan. Lorelai is sad Rory went, so decides to throw a "Christmas after Christmas" party for the entire family, including GiGi. Lane is very pregnant, and very irritable at the diner customers. Luke asks Lorelai for a character recommendation for his custody battle with Anna.

The fans should take a step back, take a breath and give it a shot on its own merits. It’s really going to come down to how much support David gets, because it’s a very, very, very big job that he’s inherited. He’s inherited everything that Dan and I do, and they’ve got to make sure to support him and give him what he needs so that he can continue to focus on the quality of the show.

I LOVE THOSE PICS!!! Lorelai seems to have her “luke-look” back… I just hope Chris isn’t somewhere around at the mall with them… that it’s just a Lorelai-Rory trip and this scene will be sweet and whatever it means that “Lorelai and Rory remember how much Luke has meant to them” will be played out superbly, more than something simple- that it will be poignant and a “lightbulb” moment of sorts for Lorelai (and I really really want Rory to be the instigator of the thought process). Geez January is so far away!! I really want to see this episode… I really want to watch this scene. I LOVE LOVE LOVE that Lorelai and Luke have their “looks” back… and I’m dying to know what Lorelai writes in that letter… anybody think we’ll be privy to that information? Or will she write it, Chris gets mad at the concept of it (instead of the contents) and we’ll never know? Hmmm… so many what-if’s at this point. Anyway, also looking forward to Lane being around again :) I love her!! She is my favorite character this season, even though she’s not been around hardly at all.

i was just reading an interview of scott patterson, which was done around the time of the second season, and one question and, mainly, scott’s answer, suprised me:
Jim - The most frequently-received question I’ve gotten in the mailbag…
Scott - [laughs]
Jim - … is the one that I’m sure you get, and that’s “when are Luke and Lorelai getting together?” But, isn’t that like Gilligan getting off the Island?
Scott - Yeah, that’s pretty much what it’s like, isn’t it? I hope it doesn’t happen any time soon. They don’t tell me anything: I have no idea. All I know is that I’m going to be “jealous” for a while.
Jim - Okay…
Scott - That’s all I know, so - - I think the show really benefits from the tension. And an audience thinks they want something, but once they get it, they tend to turn away from it. So, I’m sure Amy - - if she does get us together - prematurely, in my estimation - she’ll do it in such a way that it’ll be compelling, and then she’ll break us up and bring us back together when it’s — you know, in a higher dramatic moment. When it has the most impact, dramatically.

Well, the spoiler didn’t specifically indicate Rory was with Logan in London, so it could be a possibility she went on her own.
Remember, Logan bought her tickets to go, so it was already planned before he returned to NYC.

Maybe, just maybe, they’ll explain in the episode how Rory and Logan resolved their fight and went to London together. And yeah, they already had this trip planned out ever since ‘The Long Morrow’ so they went..
Either way, that must mean they’re not fighting anymore. YAY.

I don’t know- I agree that it’s super exciting to have those “looks” back, but I worry that the scene will be too short or substance-lacking. I REALLLLLLY want it to be deep, and I really want the encounter to strike a chord with Lorelai.
I, too, want to know what’s in the letter. I so feel it’s going to be a make it or break it moment for DR- it’s SUCH a brilliant ploy, and yet so much is riding on it. I mean, this letter essentially sums up Lorelai’s feelings for Luke as a person and as an ex-fiance. It has to be executed perfectly. Yikes!
The real question is how good episode 13 will be…sooo nervous.

Ahh Em, you scared me… I missed the part “around the time of the second season” and thought it was recent and he was saying it’s never going to happen!! haha silly me… :)
Speaking of which, just watched “Dead Uncles and Vegetables” and I wish I could count how many “Luke and Lorelai belong together” anvils there were… ahhh I was so giddy!! I was reading on another forum that “anvils” (foreshadows) are supposed to be followed up on sooner or later (at least, Amy planned it that way…) so check this convo out:
LORELAI: You weren’t planning Sookie’s wedding.
EMILY: Well, then, whose wedding was I planning?
LORELAI: Mine.
EMILY: Don’t be ridiculous.
LORELAI: Mom, your vision for this wedding and all the over the top stuff and the gazillion dollar flowers and bunting and champagne fountain and the Haute Couture dress – who’s wearing that wedding dress in your mind’s eye, Mom? Is it Sookie or is it me?

Lauren Graham is looking fabulous! I’m glad she cut her hair, it makes her look younger. No offense to Lauren but I always get bummed when it grows out some and dyes it a light brown, she did it in season 4 and she did it season 6 into 7. I love it when it’s short and dyed a dark brown/almost black, like she had it in season 5, it makes her eyes seem especially blue.
Anyways, onto the episode. I agree with Tara Ashley that these next three episodes will either make or break season 7 for David Rosenthal. Richard’s health crisis has the potential to stir up some major drama in the Chris/Lorelei/Luke triangle as well as stir up some moments of touching interactions between Lorelei and Emily as well as Lorelei and Rory. There’s so much potential on these episodes shoulders…they have to be executed perfectly or else I might cry. Well I mean the episodes should make me cry with heartbreak because of the touching and emotional scenes that should be playing out, not cry with being let down by the episode. Either way I’ll cry…I just hope it’s the right kind.
Onto Luke and his letter… in this sense I totally agree with DA. I really think it should start with Rory recalling everything that Luke has done for her over the years. Starting with that coffee cake he made for her when she turned 16. Anyways, as Rory’s running through the list it’ll make Lorelei realize how much Luke has done for Rory AND for her, and that will lead to her realizing that it was stuff that CHRIS should have done for Rory and her, but didn’t…
as to the letter, I think Lorelei will, unintentionally, write everything that she saw in Luke as a man. It’ll basically be all the character traits that made her fall in love with him in the first place and made her propose to him.
OMG! Wouldn’t it be awesome if she used his interactions with her own daughter as a frame of reference for why he’ll make a great father to April!!!? And then, of course, Chris finds it, it’s basically reopen his utterly annoying insecurities about how he was a crappy father who constantly let Rory down her ENTIRE life!!
You have no idea how giddy I’m making myself right now! WHY ISN’T JANUARY HERE!!!

i love these pics. they seem so normal, and they look happy.you can still see some tension/awkwardness between them, but i think the character reference thing is gonna be a good thing for lorelai. it will help her realize that she still loves him very much, and maybe. hopefully. she will admit it FINALLY!
i hope so anyway.
i think that quote em posted is very good. amy is totally right. if rosenthal is going to do i good job, then he is. if hes gonna screw this up, then thats whats going to happen. all of our complaining and comments about him arent going to do any good. that doesnt mean anyone is going to stop though, so whatever.

it’s so good to know something about this episode!!
well, let me start:
About Rory spending christmas with Logan in London,she was mad at him last episode, but probably we’re going to see them make up in the beginning of this episode…sad! Rory is so vulnerable now, she gets mad at him, and he’s always “aw ok, let’s travell” “aw, it’s not true!” “aw, i love you!”, oh, shut up Logan!!…Rory always believe him, trust him, and he’s always a jerk to her! He cheated on her with the bridesmaids last season, so she got out of his place, and then he showed up and said: “Rory, i love you”, and everything was ok again, like if nothing had happened! Come on!!…it’s always the same thing, Rory gets mad at him and then he shows up, says some bullsheet to her, and she forgives him, and everything is ok again!
..sorry guys…this makes me crazy!
…and about the letter…Oh, i can’t wait to see it!!
I just hope that scene be a long and sweet one, not just another short one, like DR always do! In important moments, that the scene should be very intense, kind of long, sweet, DR always “runs” to other scene!!
…I believe Lore will figure out how much she still loves Luke writting this letter, and with the conversation with Rory, about everything that Luke has been doing to them all these years.I’m sure she will figure this out writting this letter!!…And Christopher…you can start packing your bags! Because Lore, soon or later, will come back to Luke’s arms!!
…The point is what is going to happen in the next episodes, after the letter, after all this!
Remember what i said one day people?…”Lore and Luke just need some time to figure all this out!”

OMG! WHY CANT IT BE JANUARY ALREADY!! I am so excited for the next episode! I think the letter will help them realize how much they love each other and how luke has learned his lesson. He was a little bit selfish when she gave him that ultimatum and he said no, i have to figure out April. But im gald he is making the most of it and trying to act like the good parent, unlike how Chris was to rory! I think Lorelai will see that when she sees him with April and fall in love al over again!

January 23 feels so far away.
I am also happy to see tha torelai’s hair is back to a good length and color. :)
It makes me mad that one episode Rory is mad at Logan and the next she is ditching her mom to spend the holidays with Logan. Hopefully we will get to see Logan try and rectify the situation.
I am hoping this Luke and April running into Rory and Lorelai in the mall isn’t too awkward. I think it would be if Rory opened Lorelai’s eyes to the mistake she has made by marrying Christopher and leaving Luke. i would like Rory to be the one to do that.
I hope we actually get to find out the contects of the letter. I am hoping this is a turning point in the Luke/Lorelai/Christopher love triangle.
I am hoping that Richard’s health crisis brings out a good ‘ole Emily and Lorelai fight. It says tha Luke nad Christopher are both dealing with the ehealth crisis in different ways, so that means at this point that they are both stil attached to Lorelai’s life.
i know it is far away, but this thing bout Rory liking her TA should be interesting. Could this cause a break up with Logan and Rory? I hope not, but I am betting it will at least result in some sort of fight.

Zuzzy i definitely agree with you! i am also so giddy right now! in the letter lorelai’s feelings that she has kept inside her this whole time about luke will come out. and chirs will find it and see who lorelai truly loves.
i just realized that lorelai never really wollowed about luke. she encouraged rory to wollow after her break up with dean, and lorelai did not take her own advice! she probably kept all those feelings inside her and they will all come out in the letter! imagine if after lorelai writes the letter, she looks sad! and she just realizes how much she misses luke! oh i am getting so giddy!
one thing i want to see is how luke finds out about richard’s health crisis. does lorelai tell him? that would be something i would want to see. like lorelai is sad about her dad and luke comforts her like he did the when richard went to the hospital in “forgiveness and stuff” in season 1! really giddy here!
and i definitely think that the next few episodes, especially with lorelai’s epiphany and switch from chris to luke, is going to be the make it or break it for DR. he has to make it seem realistic, and like something lorelai would do. i REALLY hope he just doesnt make lorelai say “bye” to chris and then “hi” to luke. that wouldnt be fair to luke, lorelai, or chris. i dont want another repeat of last season, just luke and chris switching places. this has to be very well written, because this is going to be the turning point of the show’s storyline. if he doesnt do this right, then i dont know what i would do. i would be happy that, overall, luke and lorelai are back together, but i would also be unhappy with the execution of the switch. it has to be done right.
i am also glad , though, that lane is back in the picture. she hasnt had any scenes lately, and i want to see how her storyline plays out. i want to see how fat she got, how zach is dealling with the whole thing, and, of course, how they deal with ms. kim. i hope she is in a lot more scenes because i definitely think that the writers could do a lot with her story.

While I’m not quote sure if this will actually happen, I kind of want some family drama between Emily and Lorelei again. As painful a moments as they are, some of my favorite moments of the entire series have been the major fights between either Emily and Lorelei or Richard and Lorelei. Despite the great conflict and drama being portrayed, it still really shows how much they love each other, it also allows for Lauren Graham and Kelly Bishop to really shine as actresses, Richard of course is always perfect at whatever role he must play (the actor’s name is slipping my mind at the moment).
But yeah,
whenever I think of that fight in season 1 when Rory comes home late from the Chilton dance or in Season 2 where Lorelei screams, “Why don’t you pretend that you care!”
I still get shivers recalling how awesome Lauren and Kelly were in those scenes.
Again I don’t know if this would actually happen because Lorelei has somewhat moved on from her grudgery of her teen years and Emily has definately softened over the years…but still, maybe I’m askin’ for drama for the sake of drama, but a heart string of fight like that would be a perfect way for Lorelei to reach her breaking point and turn to someone who is not Chris (hint luke* for comfort (after all, he will be off sulking and probably getting drunk in a bar because of a fight he had with Lorelei, most likely over the recommendation letter for Luke)
I could ramble for pages how potentially awesome these next few episodes could be for the season…. but you know, I value my sanity.
P.S. did I mention that Laurens hair looks fantastic short and dark and that I’m absolutely giddy for January!?

And Zuzzy, I wholeheartedly agree; I SO miss the tension/fights between Emily and Lorelai. I always rewind them and watch them over because they are SO powerful and beautifully acted. I truly believe they are two of the greatest actresses in television, and I wish they would get more credit than they do.

Go back and rewatch Lorelai’s Graduation Day if you get a chance- I watched it last night, and it’s amazing! Really really good scenes, esp between Lorelai and Emily. I miss the “good scene” days. I haven’t seen a brilliantly acted scene the entire season, aside from Luke’s speech to Anna.

yea Zuzzy. i love those great fight scenes between lorelai and emily. they really showed how strained their relationship is, which is part of the story. i miss those. i hope there will be another one of those in the future. maybe there will be one about how lorelai “ruined another chance with christopher”, something that the two have fought over a lot in the past. that would be good. but, who knows?
and i love lauren with her hair dark and short again. she has changed her hair a lot in the past 6 years, but i love it like this.

You can see the way Lorelai is looking at Luke and there is so much admeration in both their eyes. I do think the letter will say something about evrytime Luke has droped what he was doing to help these two girls (lorelai and lorelai.) Lorelai is deffinetly going to put in the letter how he wanted to focus on his relashonship with his daughter more than with his fiance because he thought that she would understand why he was doing this. She has to put in how he took Rory as practically his own child even when he and her mother were just great friends not lovers yet.
I to was watching “Dead Uncles and Vegtables” the other day and it is amzing how the hidden love for each other is there and it is so strong. Emily in my opinion can like predict the future. She said the line about her and Luke. Emily was right on. Her daughter did have really strong feelings for this man that si just a friend and feeds her.
I really hope that there will be another fight like last season in ” Friday Nights Alright for Fighting.” that was really good. How they all went back adn forth fighting with each other. I need more Lorelai/Emily Lorelai/Lorelai Loreali/Luke and Lane/Rory scens (also just more Lane scenes pierod.)

I thikn we need another big fight scene simply because there are SO many unresolved issues. I loved Friday Nights Alright for Fighting because it answered so many questions I had. And I think it’s safe to say that there are WAY more unresolved issues this season than there were last season.
Mainly, I want an explanation from Lorelai about her actions in Partings, her decision to date Chris, her hasty marraige, and her feelings for Luke. I want it ALL out there. I will be so frustrated if Luke and Lorelai’s reunion is subtle; I don’t want it to be subtle! I want the “Chris out, Luke in” to be dramatic and emotional, and POIGNANT. I’m becoming very weary of DR, as I imagine many viewers are, and this is a great chance for him to redeem himself.

yea Tara Ashely. like i said before, lorelai never told anyone how she felt about everything that has happened to her recently. she never really ‘wallowed’. she has kept all of these feelings inside her and i want them to come out, possibly in the letter that chris sees and he supposedly gets mad about. that would be a great scene.

IM SOOO EXCITED!!!!!!! except i was reading the “spoiler” for this one and when it was talking about rory going to london with logan. i started freaking out. i thought i missed an episode! ya know what i noticed… Michel hasnt been in this season very much. i miss him. and lane. but hopefully they’ll be back soon. Im so excited to see what the letter says. im not even gonna guess cuz im usually wrong. but im still oober excited. and yes i agree with what the majority of you said. i hope that rory starts rambling on and on about what luke has done for them over the years and while shes talking the camera should zoom into lorelai, and she will just be like in a daze with a sad yet happy look on her face. thats what i think should happen. luke has always been more of a dad to rory than chris. and he never even liked kids that much.
I always watch my dvds of the Girls and i love how the relationship of luke n lorelai was put off for so long. there were so many sweet moments between. like in season one..when lorelai helped him pick out colors for the diner. and in season two, when she went out with the really young guy from her business class and luke was so jealous and she told him that he was one of her best friends. season three, when he was fixing her shoe at the dance-a-thon. just little things like that throughout the shows history made this relationship amazing and desired by everybody that watches the show. they NEED to be together.
Rory and logan need to break up. She needs to get away from him. Shes been with him for toooooo long and most of the time he was a jerk. TIME TO END!
CANT WAIT TILL THE SHOW COMES BACK!
and yes, i love lorelai’s hair. reminds me of the old days. the good days.

Rory isn’t mad at Logan because she knows he had to say something. She should be very mad at Marty. It just shows that Logan and Rory are a very committed couple and are in it for the long term. Logan and Rory are magic together. I sure hope they include Logan in their after Christmas celebrations!

Hopefully soon, Tara Ashley. I’m thinking we’ll get previews after Merry Fisticuffs rerun on the 16th, so at some point that week we’ll get the DC for Santa’s Secret Stuff. Which is only 2 weeks away… :)

Sorry Debbie, but I could not agree with you less. Although Rory and Marty should not have hid it, Rory was just going along with Marty. And in the end, she got hurt almost as much as Marty. Logan betryaed Rory and Rory lost her close friends (I think she lost Olivia too). Marty lost his girlfriend, but it was because he was being an idiot. I think Rory should be mad at Logan because if Logan trusted Rory, he wouldn’t really care that Lucy didn’t know. I think he was just jealous that Marty had hit on Rory and that Marty and Rory had their own little stupid secret. As a result, Logan wrecked one or two of Rory’s close friendship at Yale besides and Paris, depending if Olivia will still hang out with her. Everyone else graduated.

I am so excited!!!!!!!!!! After all this time Lor will fall in love with luke again. When she writes the letter she will know she never fell out of love with luke. Luke and Lor are meant to be! I love chris but it would be so much better if he and lor were just friends!!!!!!!! Hey does anybody remember in the begining of season six when lor and sookie were looking at the twikam house and lor told sookie that she wasnt going to bolt? What ever happened to that? I love that scene for 2 reasons #1 beacause she reveals that she really loves luke and because there is some great lor and sookie stuff. We need some more lor and sookie stuff on the show! Heck! We need some more old fashoned gilmore stuff! I want my show back!
