Gilmore Girls Season 8 “Standstill”
Ausiello has another update for us about Gilmore Girls Season 8… and it’s not good :(
Although all indications were that Warner Bros. and the CW were nearing a deal to bring Gilmore Girls back for a shortened eighth season, sources close to the negotiations now tell me that talks are at a complete [Gulp] standstill.
"It’s anybody’s guess what’s going to happen," reports my Gilmore mole. "There’s no deal in place at this point, and there may never be. This is probably going to come down to the wire."
The holdup can be summed up in five words: Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel. According to the insider, "very good" offers were made to both actresses, but it apparently wasn’t enough to coax signatures out of them. "Now it’s a game of chess," whispers the spy. "It could go either way."
Further complicating matters is the fact that the CW’s upfront presentation — the unoffical deadline for a deal to be brokered — is scheduled for May 17. What’s so complicated about that, you ask? Well, that’s two days after the show’s potential swan song airs. In other words, if negotiations literally go down to the wire, we won’t know if we’re watching the season or series finale.
Grrr. Don’t they realize we fans need an answer?

My uninformed interpretation is that the actress aren’t coming back, but The CW refuses to believe it because they are desperate for GG to return.

Read the statement on the CWTV website. It’s a done deal.
Come on GG fans, it has been a really good run, so enjoy what is left. I think I’ll have a Gilmore Girls/Stars Hollow cocktail party on that night to toast the end.

I officially have tears in my eyes. I can’t believe it’s the end. This is one of the best shows on tv. Just one more season, even a shortened season to wrap things up. I’m so upset, what about Loreleai and Luke, what about Rory and Logan??? Where’s my puffs?

This is soooooooooooooooooo sad!!!!!! I can’t believe it’s over :-( :-(
LOS ANGELES - Goodbye “Gilmore Girls.” The sharp-witted saga of an independent mother and daughter that added to the luster of the young WB network, will end its run after seven seasons.
The show, which last year moved to the CW network created by the merger of WB and UPN, will air its final episode May 15 at 8 p.m. EDT, CW and producer Warner Bros. Television announced Thursday.
“Gilmore Girls,” starring
Lauren Graham and
Alexis Bledel and created by Amy Sherman-Palladino, “helped define a network and created a fantastic storybook world featuring some of television’s most memorable, lovable characters,” CW and the studio said in a joint statement.
They thanked fans for their “passionate support” promised to give the show “the send-off it deserves.”
Ratings had dipped this season for the series, which lost Sherman-Palladino as its guiding hand because of a contract dispute.
The drama with comic overtones followed the lives of single mom Lorelai Gilmore (Graham) and her equally bright and beautiful daughter as they grew up together, struggled through romances and tried to find their place in the world.
Rapid-fire patter, the series’ hallmark, delighted fans but took a toll on its cast.
“Getting the language perfect requires a number of takes that you might not have on another show,” Graham told The Associated Press in January 2006.
“It’s just a lot of work — 13, 14 hours door to door. I’ve missed weddings, I’ve missed babies being born. I’m not complaining, because of what it has brought me, but I would be ready for a different balance.”
Sherman-Palladino and her husband and fellow executive producer, Daniel Palladino, left after failing to come to terms with the studio on a new deal, and the series struggled creatively and in the ratings this season.
The April 24 episode drew fewer than 4 million viewers, down about 25 percent compared to the same time last year.
As production on the show got under way last fall, its future then uncertain, Graham speculated about the final chapter.
“I care very much how the story ends,” Graham said told the AP. “… It would be my worst nightmare if we end the show with a wedding. To me, the premise of the show was, `What if your parent was your best friend?’”
“That’s the thing you leave people with, the strength of this family and this relationship,” she said.

I am just beyond disappointed! So, so sad!! :( I mean alright, I can understand maybe some of the actors wanting to end thier stint with the show entirely, but how about the fans that have been loyal and so supportive over the years… C’mon… at least give us a good send off to give us closure to this beloved show! It seems like 2-3 episodes seems TOO rushed to end long running series?? I think rushing to end this series would be like leaving a bad taste in many peoples mouthes!! Anyone else think that?
I mean honestly, for those that have been watching since the very first episode, even when the storyline became wanning, most if not all stick stuck through to watch the show and see what would happen. And now.. it seems like things are being rushed and sweep under the carpet. :( Really is sad, and disappointing.
Alright, off my soapbox! lol

Ok in tears now!!!
I am so mad that they are ending it this show is my life. I agree i think that they should just do a shortened 8th season to tie up loose ends why rush the 7th season so fast it seemed as though they are just trying to end it too fast.
I’m devistated

this is not fair we need a proper end!! people want just that nothing more! This is not a show that needs to be cancel because it sucks…it just needs a last season to fix things up and so that it ends properly! I love Alexis and Lauren but now I’m hating them I mean it’s just one last season that’s it!

ok…ya…uh…no…the end of the season should not go that way…if it did then that would pretty much have to be the end of the season and there would have to be an eighth season…which i really hope there will be…the day gilmore girls goes off the air for good is the dad i will cry for the show to come back on…i love the show…i have season 1-6 on dvd…and rory isnt going to marry jess…jess is gone but they are still friends..rory is going to marry logan…i knew that from the episode where they first started being boyfriend and girlfriend..anyway…back to my point here…jess is gone..lorelai would never let rory marry jess but she will let logan marry her because logan loves rory and she means everything to him…so ya..rory is not going to marry jess even though jess is pretty hott!!!

I hope they reconsider and bring the show back. They did for “Seventh Heaven”. I hope another network buys the show or they at least make some “GG” movies. There is still a lot of storyline to pursue and Stars Hallow is full of great characters. I have not given up hope.
