Gilmore Girls CANCELLED

by Arieanna on May 3rd, 2007

Here is a press statement from the CW:

Announcing the final season of ‘Gilmore Girls’ is truly a sad moment for everyone at The CW and Warner Bros. Television. This series helped define a network and created a fantastic, storybook world featuring some of television’s most memorable, lovable characters. We thank Amy Sherman-Palladino, Dan Palladino, Dave Rosenthal, the amazing cast led by Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel as well as the producers, writers and crew for giving us this delightful gem for the past seven years. We would also like to thank the critics and ‘Gilmore’ fans for their passionate support and promise to give this series the send off it deserves.

GILMORE GIRLS finale airs Tuesday May 15 on The CW at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

According to Ausiello’s sources, the WB could just not make a deal with Alexis Bledel and Lauren Graham.

The last deal offered included large salary hikes and an offer to do a shortened season.

The show’s cast and crew — many of whom thought an eighth season was in the bag — are said to be in a state of shock. "Everyone was pretty blindsided by this and still processing it at the moment," reports a Gilmore insider. "Talks must have broken down very, very recently because it came as one hell of a surprise."

The good news? The May 15 finale was meant to serve as either a series or season finale. And having just read the script, I can assure you that it’s a satisfying conclusion to the series. As I previously teased, it brings Gilmore full circle.

As Lauren Graham reported in 2006, she would not let the show end with a wedding, so perhaps this is why the promise of another season was not appealing to her. This is her vision:

I care very much how the story ends,” Graham said told the AP. “… It would be my worst nightmare if we end the show with a wedding. To me, the premise of the show was, ‘What if your parent was your best friend?’

I am surprised by the announcement.

It is not that there haven’t been warning signs, but I sort of expected the issues to be resolved, especially after Ausiello’s earlier encouraging reports.

i dont think i can survive WITHOUT GILMORE GIRLS….. i found out at exactly at 3:57 pm that gilmore girls was not coming back for an 8th season and i have been crying ever sense. I CANT FUNCTION RIGHT EITHER,,, TI HAS BEEN A BIG BLUR. I have been following this AMAZING show sense it began on october 5th 2000 I THINK IT IS A MISTAKE THAT THIS IS THE LAST SEASON ESPECIALLY BECAUSE WE WILL SEE NO LUKE AND LORELAI BACK TOGETHER AT ALL AND IT PISSES ME OFF. I AM SOOO HURT AND SAD THAT THEY STARTED WITH A BAD SEASON AND AND THAT DAVID FREKIN SUTCLIFFE WAS IN 15 OUT OF the 22 EPISODES. IT MAKES ME SMAD THAT THE REASON WHY IT ISNT COMING BACK FOR AN 8TH SEASON IS BECAUSE OF ALEXIS BLEDEL WHO DIDNT WANT TO CONTINUE :( SHE WAS THE HOLD UP

This really makes me sad. I cannot believe it is ending so abruptly. I will never see Luke & Lorelai really together. This show still had more to do to bring a satisfying ending.

Fortunately, the WB will announce a new show — “The Kirk and Miss Patty Show” so they can reuse the set, and keep the only two characters who really matter as the headliners.

It sure is a sad moment, but I see the ending as it was conceived just perfect because the whole series has always been about the relationship between Lorelai, Rory, Luke and the Stars Hollow citizens.
Concerning the Logan issue, I’ve always been a little reluctant about him, even though the development of his character throughout this season and the previous one was sure an interesting work on the theme ‘rich aristocratic boys experience compensating crisis in any of their live’s compartments’. I still think they initially came out with the Logan idea to find Rory just someone to date during college. The drama issue is they just couldn’t stick together as much as Rory did along with Jess or even Dean, even though their relationship had to grow into something else eventually - and that was interesting as well. Rory’s priorities though have always been oriented towards her relationship with her mother, Stars Hollow and her dream career. Hence, Logan’s lack of presence that’s been experienced during this seson especially. Rory has moved on and over him since the very first moment she was trying to rectify things after the ‘flunking out of college’ period during season 6. Jess, as soon as he came back as a ghost lover, opened her eyes and made her think twice about her priorities: since then, Rory has not given much importance to the Logan relationship or, at least, she neglected it. Okay, now it should be clear I’m not one of the ‘Sophies’ at all! LOL. No, really. I’m fine with this ENDING announcement because if they tried to force the author’s hand to the series, then it would have been fair if they went on for like another dozen years - a purpose merely absurd - telling things about Luke and Lorelai getting engaged again, possibly getting Lorelai married again and having another kid with him; then Rory entering the real world and in the adult stage of her life and, possibly, starting a relationship anew with someone unknown (because Jess, Dean, Marty and Logan are gone for good); then Lorelai and Luke getting old together, and all the other citizens getting old together, Lorelai’s parents eventually dying… It could have become a neverending story. I shall say every story should have a proper beginning - and GILMORE GIRLS sure has got it - , an involving middle, then a surprising ending. Gilmore Girls has gotten all these points and credits in my opinion. Yesterday’s episode had one of the most touching moments in the whole series and I’m sure the next two ending episodes will live up to the hype.

    Gilmore Girls CANCELLED…

Gilmore Girls Cancelled. No season 8….

  • Jess
    May 3, 2007 at 4:27 pm

I can’t believe it. I honestly thought that the 8th season was in the bag and I have stopped worrying. This is like a slap on the face!

The worst part about it is that we aren’t prepared for the show to end. There is only 2 episodes left. If we had known sooner, then it would be easier to say goodbye. Now it is so quick, we don’t have time to process.

Why couldnt they just sign for a shortened season and give us fans what we want. Basically we just got a big finger from the stars. :(

  • Joey
    May 3, 2007 at 4:33 pm

I think they need just like maybe 4 episodes from season eight to clear it up. We have Luke and Lorelai getting together in the final episode- then what? And what about Rory? We need answers and with only 2 episodes remaining, this offiacially sucks.

Honestly, I thought that the show should have ended with Rory graduating college.

However, the circumstances have changed, with the whole Rogan issue and the L/L issue,

We needed an 8th season to stick a pin in the L/L relationship, and to get Rogan back together =[ =[ =[

then my brother laughed at me

    i will die.
    stupid people.

    right before my b-day too

And why does Rosenthal have to break up Logan and Rory right before the finale??? Maybe he thinks that people who love Logan got 3 years of them together, now the people who hate him will be happy too. I think that if Logan haters put up with him for 3 years they could last 1 more episode.

    so maddddddddddd!!!!!!!!!

    NO!
This is depressing. And it’s my birthday. And I’m just sad right now. Because Gilmore Girls won’t end on a good note for me since I’m a Rogan fan. And I’m sad just because of the fact that it’s ending. Depressing moment.

I guess the rumors were right.LG said at the beginning of this post that she didn’t want the show to end with a wedding. Was her dislike of SP so bad that she didn’t want to have a season where they would be married.Well it wouldn’t have ended with a wedding it would have been the beginning of her always wanting a middle.I find it hard to come to the realization that LG/AB couldn’t have given us GG fans at least a short season(13)It would have closed all what will be left open when this series ends.1-Luke/Lorelai do they have a relationship will they get engaged??? 2-Lorelai’s relationship with her parents never comes to any kind of understanding on what Lorelai wanted for herself all those years and all those years at FND’s.3-Rory finally getting a job she really loves and doing really well at it.4-Lorelai and Rory being close even if Rorys not close enough to come home on weekends and only see her mom on holidays and a couple of times during the year.5-Leaving us GG fans with a hole in our hearts not to be filled with laughter, bantering and ranting between the characters and just watching them on Tuesday nights.I will surely miss all of these things as there is no others series that I felt close too.Sorry but I just can’t say thanks right now as I’m with all other GG fans very upset that we were lead down a path to a nowhere ending.

For the first hour after I found out, I was crying hysterically.
For the second hour, I was completely numb to the world.
The third hour, I was angry as hell.
Now I just feel hollow, like a part of me is missing.

All I can say is: WHAT HAPPENED? I THOUGHT SEASON 8 WAS IN THE BAG!

    Why, CW, WHY?

I wrote in big Gilmore lettering on my wall:
    RIP

    Beloved Friend and Show
    Oct 5, 2000 - May 15, 2007

I practically died when I read this. I was terrified. I cant believe there is only TWO episodes left of gilmore girls EVER. I can only hope for the best for the actors and actresses that were on the show. And I can hope for a Gilmore Girls reunion sometime in our future. Hopefully Lauren will have something to say about it when shes on Ellen next week!Thats pretty much the only good news. Ugh. Stupid CW. They could have atleast told us earlier so we wouldnt get our hopes up and get prepared. I guess its true that you dont know what you have til its gone.

I am sad to a certain extent. But I had a feeling this was coming. I think that it will be for the best, I mean I would have liked another season as much as the next person, but maybe it will be better this way. I mean from what I have read in spoilers the finale will be a good one, and one that will satisfy. If it ended with L and L married, everything would be too perfect, and it has been about R and L all along.

    May 3, 2007 at 6:09 pm

First of all Alexis Bledel can’t Act. She will be lucky to find a good job like this. She does the crying scenes terrible!! She may be beautiful but she has a huge shock in store for her if she thinks she’s some great actress! I can’t believe this! I’m praying for a turn around like there was with 7th heaven. This last season was a waste! We need an 8th season to resolve the huge mess that was season 7! NO LUKE AND LORELAI BABY OR WEDDING! THIS SUCKS!!!!! Lauren Graham says she didn’t want the show to end with a wedding cause it’s focus is Mom and daughter. Okay fine, they didn’t have to end it with Luke and Lorelai getting married they could go beyond that. But what was the FREAKIN point then of having this whole Luke and Lorelai thing built up from the beginning only to end this way. COME ON CW TELL THE GIRLS YOU’LL DO WHATEVER IT TAKES!!!

  • waffle117
    May 3, 2007 at 6:16 pm

Okay…that was for good measure, but this is what I really think: I’m sooooo frickin’ pissed right now that the actors couldn’t have just done 13 more episodes!!! How hard is that?!!! Nothing is going to be tied up!! Lorelai and Luke’s relationship, Rory and Logan’s relationship, Emily/Richard/Lorelai…NOTHING!!!! We’ve watched this show for SEVEN DAMN YEARS just to have it end like THIS!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! I HATE THIS!!!

  • Natasha

    ARGENTINA WANTS ANOTHER SEASON!!!
I WANT TO SEE LORELAI HAPPY WITH LUKE
    WITH HER LONG LOST LOVE
WITH HER WANTING MIDDLE! She waited all her life to have “the whole package” … and WE waited with her! during 7 years of our lives!!! I was 12 years old when I started watching Gg!
and now, at 19 I’m dying here because I won’t see Lorelai married with luke, taking care of their kid!
    I’m so hungry!
I love Luaren graham and her personality but In this moment I’m totally disagree when she said that she didn’t wanted a wedding!! OK, you can not want it, but 40 Million of poeople in your country yes! as others hundred of millions people arround the world!!!!!!!!!!

    PLEAS PLEASE PLEASEEE
WE COULD MAKE A LIST OF SIGNS WITH A LETTER ASKING FOR 13 MORE EPISODES!!!

  • waffle117
    May 3, 2007 at 6:26 pm

Got my next wind! If you think about it, this show had no point!! The end of a show is a point where it ties everything together. When nothing is tied together you’ve got bla! Clearly, if there’s nothing to tie together, there’s no point! And I don’t like sitting around watching shows that have no point! Had I known that it was going to end this stupidly, I probably would’ve just watched till the sixth season and then stopped! And made up my own ending!! I’m serious, they should’ve gotten ideas off of fanifiction for the seventh season, b/c there are a lot of amazing writers on there who had great ways to tie the show together, but now we have to deal with this horse shit! I honestly feel like a part of my heart is missing! I’m soooo freaking depressed about this! All I wanted for this show was for L/L to be together, and I don’t even get that!! I totally agree with Michaela there!! What was the point in having a big build up b/n L/L and then giving us nothing!! We watched for SEVEN years for them to finally suck it up and get married and have babies! And I don’t care what Lauren Graham says! Sure, the show was about a mother and daughter, but, she can fight it all she wants, but Luke and Lorelai were one of the main reasons this show stayed on as long as it did! She can complain all she wants, but people watched it in order to see when those to would suck it up and get together, but we don’t even get to witness that!!! Okay, I really need to stop, before my blood pressure raises to high! Thanks GG for ruining my night!

My previous post was calm. As I am sitting here and it is sinking in more and more I am getting really sad. I am starting to cry. I will miss this show, but who knows, maybe it will come back like 7th heaven, but then again, maybe it shouldn’t because 7th heaven came back as shit. I don’t know. I am just sad. I literally live for this show, I watch it all the time on DVD, and now that is all I will have. I am just sad.

Gilmore Girls is my favorite show to watch and I skip home on Tuesday evenings because I’m so excited. i want everyone to know that today is officially the worst day of my life. i’m balling right now. i can’t believe it. i really thought there would be an 8th season. i don’t even understand why there can’t be. they offered them a short season and a lot more money. i am soooooo mad. ahhhh. i’m screaming… i love this show so so so much. we’ll all miss you gilmore girls…. maybe, just maybe there is still hope. if u watch 7th heaven then u know last year it was supposed to be the series finale but 2 days after the series ended it was announce that it would come back for another season. let’s all pray that they change there mind. who knows?…

  • paula
    May 3, 2007 at 7:27 pm

I agree with you completely. I also love that Lauren Graham is repelled by the thought of ending with a wedding. That’s so stupid. This show was never about the happily ever after with the guy, it was about two strong women making their way in the world. So far, they haven’t dont too bad for themselves.

  • Sam
    May 3, 2007 at 7:33 pm

this is stupid, half a season more wouldve been fine for the fans and for the cast. stupid decision!
anyway if u find urself crying, i think u’re a bit too caught up in fiction and needs some help on some level. seriously.
i agree with lauren about not having a wedding. lor’s 2nd marriage in a yr? how tacky would that have been goin bac and fourth wit the 2 loves of her life.
even though the “guy and girl” supposed to be together in the end thing is inevitable, the whole L/L relationship is jus weird. seriously how can 40 million ppl out there whole-heartedly want grumpy luke to end up happily ever after with fun-loving, charismatic lor? u ppl r nuts!
still, with all its flaws and lovely-ness, i will miss every bit of it. not as much if lauren gets another comedic tv show though!! which i hope she does!!!
p.s alexis needs to be taught on how to give a proper hug. she looks weird doing it. just weird.

It sounds like it wasn’t an issue of money for Alexis and Lauren. Lauren stated herself that because of the show, she has missed weddings and babies being born to her loved ones. I honestly believe that they loved this show and everything it represented. But I also think it’s hard for us, as fans, to realize that Lauren and Alexis are actual people with their own lives, and I think it would be wrong if we didn’t acknowledge the sacrifices in their own lives that they have made in order to make the show such a cherishable one. It would be disrespectful of us if we didn’t.

In terms of the series ending (I never thought I’d have to say “series” ending), I’m hopeful that it will be a satisfying and memorable one because I’ve always valued the mother/daughter dynamic in this series more than the actual romance plotlines. I have always found the dramatic scenes between Emily and Lorelei more satisfying than any of the ones that Lorelei had with any of her boyfriends. One of the reasons that Luke was the major exception to this rule is because over the years it has become apparent how much he cares and loves these two women. It wasn’t only because of how much he looked out for Lorelei but also because of how loving he was to Rory that made me love him as “the man” for Lorelei.

I’ve always suspected that they would end the series in the same way that the end the pilot episode with Lorelei and Rory gossiping in Luke’s Diner as they fade to black. That is the fondest memory I will have of this show: the diner scenes where Lorelei exchanges witty banter/flirtations with Luke or where Lorelei and Rory discuss a crisis that Rory is having.

It’s my honest belief that the series will end with a wholesome, heartwarming ending.

And as long as they end the series with Luke and Lorelei caring for each other as much as they used too before they broke up and we are made positive of both Lorelei’s and Rory’s bright futures, I believe I will be able to say goodbye to this fantastic series without any regret.

This truly has been a series that has touched my heart and has been there for me when I needed to escape from my own life.

    I truly love these characters.

Anyone else think these lyrics might have also meant something else…

    If I should stay
I would only be in your way
So I’ll go but I know
I’ll think of you every step of the way

And I will always love you
    Will always love you

    You, my darling you

    Bittersweet Memories
That is all I’m taking with me
    So goodbye please don’t cry
We both know I’m not what you
    You need

And I will always love you
    I will always love you

I hope life treats you kind
And I hope you have all you dreamed of
And I wish to you joy and happiness
But above all this, I wish to you love

And I will always love you
    Will always love you
    I will always love

Grumpy Luke and fun Lorelai is what made it unique.

Otherwise it would have been just like any other t.v. drama.

They really needed a wedding. But all they’re going to give us is just a “kiss.” ::::yawn::::

    We’ve seen them kiss.

Having the last scene mirror the first scene is fine but…..they should have done that while being married!!

So basically it was all a big tease with Luke and Lorelai. In a way I wish I never got addicted to it in the first place.

NOOOOOOOOOO. is all i can say. i can’t believe gilmore girls is being cancelled. i mean how, why? it’s just hard to think about. eeh i’m gonna cry. but i guess i can’t really be mad at Lauren or Alexis because maybe there is some big weird reason their quitting the show that none of us knows about. it sounds weird but this show actually changed my life. it made me realize that while my mom is my mom that’s not all she has to be. now me and my mom are pratically best friends!! it made me more outgoing and not afraid to speak my mind. and it taught me if someone doesn’t like me the way i am then their just not worth my precious time. it’s not like any other show. it’s witty, humorous, and it just gives you a small hometown warm feeling. there have been many times i wish i could live in stars hollow. go eat a luke’s diner. stay at the dragonfly inn. go to all their crazy balistic carnivals and town meetings. it’s just a great concept i guess.

    THANK YOU GILMORE GIRLS FOR
    ALL THE GREAT MEMORIES YOU
GAVE US. I AND EVERYONE ELSE
    WILL TRULY MISS YOU.

    WOW!!!!!!!
I was really kind of expecting this, but I really hoped that we would have gotten that one more, atleast shortened, season. The only way that I can explain how I feel is it’s like when someone you love is really sick and expected to die but when they do die, it’s like a major kick to the stomach and heart. Expected but not really believing that it will happen. I will miss the show and everyone in it and miss not being able to see a better sence of where their lives will take them. Hopefully the last show will be able to give us a clear picture of this. I keep reading that the end is going to take the characters full circle. What does that mean? Lorelai and Rory all alone? Lorelai in Stars Hollow without a guy and without Rory. Rory where ever she will be without a guy and without Lorelai. That is sad. Oh well, we have had a really nice ride for seven years. Kind of a roller coaster ride, but it has been fun. We have been happy, sad, mad, surprised, confused and more. We have laughed and cried along the way. It has been great. I have to say thanks to WB, CW, the cast, mainly Lauren and Alexis (even though it seems that they are the reason there will not be an eighth season), the writers, Amy, Dan, David and everyone else involved in bringing the show to us, the devoted fans. The show had a feel that no other show that I have watched has had. I will really miss it.
The people that I really feel bad for besides all the fans, are the cast members who did sign on for the eighth season. I hope that they weren’t too blind sided by it. I know Melissa McCarthy already has another show provided the pilot gets picked up and I think that someone else had something else set up to do but I don’t know about the rest who were waiting to see what Lauren and Alexis were going to do. I’m sure that they will all show up in something else along the way. Not that they have to worry about money, it’s just they didn’t know if they would be staying on or not. Oh well, as sad as it is that we only have two more shows before it is gone, we will only have to morn until the new fall shows come out. That sounds cold and disloyal, but everytime we loose a show that we like, another comes along that we decide we like and we go on. It’s a show, not our life and life does go on. I am really hoping that since the show is over, that when the seventh season DVD’s come out that we will get some really good special features on it. GILMORE GIRLS WILL BE GREATLY MISSED BY SO MANY LOYAL FANS!!!!!!!!!!!

When it rains it pours. Finals are next week, we’re having massive thunderstorms and flash flooding, and now this. I guess I saw it coming, but I have to say I really hope this isn’t over something petty for the actors. I can’t picture that from two women we’ve all grown to care about in a way. I didn’t cry when I read the news, I have enough crap in my own life to cry about. But I will really miss this show and these characters. I feel like we only got half a season this time around.

I wish everyone in this show the best of luck, and we will definately miss you Gilmore Girls.

What I find most upsetting about this is I’ve only just found GG again.

Living in Australia, it was very hard to watch the show. The nine network pulled it half way through the 3rd season and when it was airing, they kept changing the day and time. So I missed so much.

Then they started showing it on Arena on Foxtel, but every time I happened to catch it, it was an episode I’d seen.

Then I spotted the DVD’s in the shop. And I bought them. And fell in love with the girls again.

This was only 6 months ago. I had no idea that the show was still airing, until I jumped on the net and found this website. I then downloaded all the episodes I didn’t have on DVD and I have been downloading the new ones since, because I have no other way of watching the show.

And it just really sucks that after years of not having these girls in my life, just as I get them back, they’re taken from me again…

You are so right. I am really sorry for all those fans crying now - but people,at least it`s a show. I loved watching it, even the last season but every show has to come to an end. Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel have done an amazing job through seven years. They made us laugh and cry- it was a wonderful time. But now they deserve a little more freedom instead of such a strong schedule and the possibilities of doing other things- acting , producing ect. And we-all the fans of GG- have now the opportunity to imagine how the story would go on, each one in the way he would like it to be. So dont`be so sad - life goes on and besides we can always have a good time watching the show on dvd.

    You said it well.

We loved these girls, their town, the people and everything but then again, nothing lasts forever. What will last though is those cherished, wonderful moments of the show and all it’s worth. The gilmore girls have touched our lives in many ways. I don’t think I can ever stop loving them. :D

I wish the actors we so love all the best in the future!

Thank you for bringing our girls to life all these years! It was an amazing ride!

Kudos to Lauren Graham who knows when to hold ‘em and knows when to fold ‘em. I don’t believe it was the “show me the money” problem, I believe it was her creative integrity about how the show should come to a conclusion. And I, for one, applaud her and Bledel.

It was an exciting time in television and I am glad I had the opportunity to reside in Stars Hollow, if only for seven years!

Hats off to all connected with the show.

I’m sooooo upset! They can’t do this! First they make Lorelai break up with Luke then she stays with him for 14 episodes????? Now we have two episodes left ever, and Lorelai oviously won’t be married to Luke. I won’t be happy how it ends-Rory, Lorelai, Luke eating breakfast? What kind of ending is that????

  • Clarice Jones
    May 4, 2007 at 5:44 am

I hope Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel have REALLY good agents.

The hype from a shortened 8th season and build up to a big series finale would have been great for their careers.

It’s a huge loss for them.

    My world is falling apart!
This is very, very, very sad…
But guys, think, this is for the best.
Can you imagine another season of confusing talks, different characters( different, because they’re not the same!),dumb storylines, sorry guys but i’m gonna say it.
I’m very sad, believe me, but the end of the show it’s for the best!
Since the MOTHER and the FATHER of the show, THE CREATORS of the show, THE DIRECTORS, THE PRODUCERS left, i’m talking about Amy and Danniel, the real GG “makers”, cause they were the ones who gave Lorelai and Rory and the rest of the characters life, VOICE, they were the ones who made us fall in love with the show, the crazy- smart- funny talks, fall in love with Lorelai, they were the ones who made us laugh, made us cry, for six years, they were the ones who made us went trough a lot of things with these characters, we went through Chilton with Rory, we went through Yale with her, we went through Dean and Jess with her, we went through Max with Lorelai, we went through the Independece Inn with her, We went through the Big openning of the Dragonfly with her, we went through the many relationships the she had with her, we went through the first LL kiss with her, we went through the diner, every single episode, we went through the LL fights, the Lorelai and Rory fights, the Emily and Lorelai fights, we went through the Friday night dinners for all these years, we went through Lane trying to be a drummer thing, we went through Sookie’s pregnancies, we went through the many, and crazy and funny town meetings, we went through a lot of things, all these years.
    All great things!
We’ve learn so many things with this show, with these characters.
GILMORE GIRLS IS THE NEW CLASSIC OF TELEVISION.
It’s the kind of show that many years from now, 30, 40 years from now, we’re going to turn on the TV, and it’s going to be there. Our kids, our grandchildren gonna watch GG.
…Believe me guys, this way is better. The show could only continue if Amy and Dan would be there.
GG will always be part of our lives, GG will always be part of US!
It’s soooo sad to receive a notice like this, today, in my birthday, but….it’s for the best guys.

    May 4, 2007 at 5:45 am

After reading each one of your comments I can only say one thing: the show would end eventually…

When Lorelai and Chris split up on season8 I told a friend that both Lor and Rory would end up alone, and everyone thought that was a atupid finale, but now I think is the one that makes more sense.

Think about it, the girls have been through an amazing journey, and this way we can imagine the finale the way we want!

Gilmore Girls will always be a part of me, I grew up with them…

No reasonto be sad, or mad, like some of you are. It was time to end, and we have to accept that.

That’s GG for lighten up my days!!

I am just as sad as everyone else about Gilmore Girls being over. But…one thing to remember. Even the best episodes of the seventh season were nothing compared to Gilmroe Girls in its glory days. The writing is not as good - not nearly as clever and the show has gotten more soap-y and less the quirky dramedy we all love.

I seldom watch fluff-shows. But, from the beginning of the Gilmore Girls I was captured.
It has made me laugh and cry. I have loved each and every chacter except April’s MOM. And we (my daughter and I )both watched the kiss between L/L. more times than I can count. And I am 58 years of age and a school teacher.I even managed to get my husband interested in it. I don’t want it to end for at least one more year to complete this series in a fashion it deserves. Or at least a few more shows to make a heart warming ending.INCLUDING a WEDDING for sure. PLEASE don’t disappoint US as the collector of their DVDs etc. I wish all of them the best and brighest futures including HUNKY LUCK.

NOOO!! If I really understand it (I’m from Austria and not a native english speaker) then GG ends with the 7th season!! Please just tell me that won’t happen!! It’s terrible. This is not the end we GG-addicted people imagined! Right now I’m so sad. I can’t tell ya! GG is the best show ever and I’m deeply shocked that it will be over with the next season (we people in Austria are still waiting for the start of season 7). Oh my god! Right now I need some GG! so I’ll put a DVD of them in my DVD-Player.

NO… NO NO NO NO…. I CAN’T BELIVE IT.. THAT’S JUST A NIGHTMARE…..GILMORE GIRLS ARE THE BEST! I ALSO CAN’T BELIVE WHAT LAUREN SAID: WE’RE NOT ENDING THE SHOW WITH A WEDDING. MAN MY DAY HASN’T BEEN A GOOD SO FAR BUT NOW IT’S MUCH WORSER THAN BEFORE ONLY OF THIS DAMN DECISION TO LET GILMORE GIRLS END! I DON’T BELIVE GILMORE GIRLS IS GETTING A GOOD END, IN MY OPINION, GILMORE GIRLS ENDED WHEN LORELAI AND CHRIS MARRIED…THAT’S FOR ME ONE OF THE WORSEST STORYLINES OF THIS SEASON. AND I ALSO CAN’T BELIVE THEY WILL LET THE SHOW END WITH SO MANY QUESTIONS NOT ANSWERED, E.G.
    - WILL LUKE AND LORELAI MARRY AND GET A CHILD? LIKE IN THE DREAM SHE HAD IN 3.01????
    - IS RORY STAYING IN IOWA??? OR WILL SHE MAYBE GET A JOB AT THE NEW YORK TIMES ONE DAY OR AT ANOTHER FAMOUS NEWSPAPER. IF THERE MIGHT BE AN 8TH SEASON; WILL SHE AN LOGAN GET BACK TOGETHER???

I DON’T LIKE IT THAT GILMORE GIRLS ENDING AND IT WAS A REAL SHOCK TO ME AND I DON’T WANT TO BELIVE IT, ALSO WHEN IT’S TRUE NOW…. AND WE WILL NEVER GET THE ENDING WE HOPED TO SEE, SO DO I THINK!!!!!!!!!

  • Penelope
    May 4, 2007 at 7:43 am

Okay, I know a lot of people say it was time for it to end, but honestly seasons 6 and 7 ruined the show! It was not just season 7, actually season 6 is what brought season 7 to be the way it was. For those of you saying it was time for it to end, you need to realize that, if this is where they were going to bring us, they should have just ended it with season 5, it would have ended a whole lot more classy than it will now! And for all of you that say that Rory and Lorelai should end up alone. What’s the point in that? Just because they started out like that doesn’t mean they need to end up like that. And if that’s truly the way it should be why did they bring Luke and Lorelai together so much just to make it end crappy? They basically did a circle with us with Luke and Lorelai. I find it really hard to believe they can’t cough up a few extra episodes. It was awful of Lauren and Alexis to string everyone a long and then drop a bomb! They say the rest of the cast are in shock, that means they had no idea. I agree with whoever said they should think of the other people besides themselves!

Don’t get me wrong, I love Lauren Graham, but what is she thinking? This is the first real job she’s had and where has it led her? A couple of terrible movies. Need I remind you of Bad Santa? Really. We’ve yet to see Evan Almighty, but come on. If it’s taken this long for her to be recognized as an actor, her chances of future success are pretty slim. She’s already past her prime, she was when Gilmore Girls began. Maybe things in her personal life are keeping her from continuing, but it can’t possibly be hope that she can move on tho better things than Gilmore Girls. We all see how well the actors from Friends are doing after their show was cancelled. Even Jennifer Aniston is hanging on by a thread. Lauren Graham has made a mistake, and it makes me question who she really is as a person. Is she really as petty as this decision makes her seem? I know she can’t be Lorelai in real life, but I thought at leat she was a good person with some intellegence. Maybe we’ve all been fooled.

I can’t believe this. It can’t be the ratings because everyone raves about the show. And its not like it has run out of ideas, after all, 7th Heaven went on to have over ten episodes! So I think that cancelling the show is not a good way to keep CW on the ratings.

  • Pamela
    May 4, 2007 at 9:19 am

I can’t believe that you would consider Lauren Graham even remotely ignorant (and, I know you love her) - the woman has a Bachelor’s degree in English and Master’s Degree in Fine Arts - Theatre Acting. If she never worked another day in films and television she certainly could teach at the University level or do behind-the-scenes work i.e. producing, et. cetera., which she herself alluded to in a magazine article.

I reiterate when I say that I think she made a creative decision and decided that maybe, just maybe, Amy Sherman-Palladino’s vision of the show ending with Rory’s graduation was the best way. Why muck up the beautiful waters of a great show and have it possibly tank (or, “jump the shark”) in a possible 8th season.

Of course, I too am sad I can’t tune in next September to new episodes. But, I would hope any of us who have been loyal fans over these 7 seasons would be happy to let it end on a high note.

  • Jenn Bo
    May 4, 2007 at 9:32 am

What’s this about Lauren Graham giving up her ” big break”? I’m not worried about Lauren at all. She has a great history of being picked up for fun, quirky characters and does them well. I don’t think being the lead in a television series is the end-all, be-all of an actor. I can only imagine that it is the off-beat characters that make the job fun. I wish Lauren the best and am certain she’ll be around again.

Think of her characters in several apperances and they were all great! NewRadio, Caroline in the City, Bad Santa (yes, even the Bad Santa character was acted well - even if you didn’t like the movie), Studio 60, and great characters in several other movies.

I will miss Gilmore Girls terribly. It has been a joy to watch the characters (main and side) entertain us for the last seven years. But, all good things must come to an end. Someday in the future, I’ll dust off the DVDs, watch them with my neice, and “share the love”

I have lived in Stars Hollow the past 7 years. I have cried, I have laughed, I have been mad, this is what great acting with great scripts is supposed to do for us. I loved GG, and my husband fell in love with it too! While I am disappointed that there will not be an 8th season LG is right. This show is about a single mother and her duaghter. It is about family relationships, friendships, and more. I have learned to be a better daughter, my mother and I have the realtionship I had always hoped for (and I am 37 now), I am a better mother, and I strive to dress like LL instead of a desparate housewife. This show has changed my life in great ways. It is exciting, and the acting so real that I believed SH exhisted somewhere. That is what a great show will do for you. While I too am disappointed that there will not be a L/L wedding, I do believe the reports that sate the series finale will bring things full cicle. also have to agree with an earlier comment posted that the best scenes really were (and always have been) between LG and her mom. Second to that were the family dinners, and of course the witty banter at Luke’s dinner and the townhall meetings. Thanks GG cast and crew for letting me join you in SH for the past 7 years. It hasn’t always been great (April, Chris, who was writing these stories), but I am happy that LG gets to end this the way she had hopped and Rory finally graduates from college!!

another thing im really p.o. about is that amy sherman pallidino knew that gilmore girls fans wanted lorelai and luke together but then made the whole seventh season about chris and lorelai not lorelai and luke [the 7th season 4 me was a total waste because it was mostly about chris and lorelai…that wasnt even a season for me, it was nothing.]….now luke and lorelai are finally gunna kiss @ the end of the series finale and we arent gunna see their wedding [if they have one]! im so mad about that! i have waited soooooooo long to see luke and lorelai together and having a family together! this totally sucks…ALOT! now we’ll never see luke and lorelai with rings on their fingers and holding a lil baby together really happy =’[

    and PLUS-
we dont have something to look forward to every tuesday. i hate tuesdays but when gilmore girls was on tuesdays it was the greatest night ever! when my friends asked me to hang out on tuesday nights i said “no way! gilmore girls is on tuesday nights!”

i am bumming myself out even more! i keep thinking about old episodes from season 2 and 3, how funny lorelai and rory were and their great relationship throughout seson 1 to season 7…im really gunna miss Gilmore Girls, even tho i have all the episodes but i watched them a million times and im just afraid im gunna lose interest in them…if there was a season 8 coming out i would have 13 or 16 or 22 more episodes to watch over and over when it came out on DVD

    May 4, 2007 at 11:35 am

I’m glad to here that Lauren will be on Ellen DeGeneres soon. It’ll be nice to hear the casts’ perspective in interviews.

Contrary to what some of you are saying, Lauren Graham can only move onto bigger and better things. She already has her own production company lined up so I see her going into that direction. I think Alexis will eventually come into her own as an actress. Right now she is so defined by Gilmore Girls. I can see why she wants to move on. I think she is in a very similar position that Rachel McAdams was in before she did Notebook where she’ll have to do youth oriented movies, and then eventually she’ll move onto more sophisticated roles.

The Gilmore Girls is the reason I watch the CW… I love this show and I am forever mad that its canceled. What the hell are they thinking? It’s the most brilliant show on the CW, possibly on TV, the rest is just dumb filler to pass time. Bye Bye CW I will never watch again.

I admit, I cried when I heard the news. We do have to let go of the girls though. It will be hard, as this was my favourite show for 7 years (even the bads eps). Thank god for DVD right?

Honestly, I think the series finale will be a good one, since the last few eps have been incredible (compared to the 1st part of the season).

The show focused on Lorelei and Rory and that’s how it will end with good things, hopefully, happening to the Gilmore girls.

Thank you to the creator of this site! I have checked it religiously over the past year and I really enjoyed it.

WE CAN SEE LUKE AND LORELAI START THEIR NEW LIVES TOGETHER AND EVERYTHING WAS GOING TO BE GREAT BETWEEN THEM… BUT NO!!!!!!!! HOW COULD THEY DO THIS TO US? IT FREAKIN WON SAVE ONE SHOW, DOES THAT NOT PROVE HOW MUCH WE WANT IT TO COME BACK?!?!?! THIS IS THE WORST. THEY HAVE DISAPPOINTED EVERY FAN. I JAVE VOTED MULTIPLE TIMES AND WROTE EMAILS TO PRODUCERS ASKING THEM TO SAVE IT BUT THEY OBVIOUSLY DON’T CARE ABOUT THE FANS. THE CW AS RUINED MY LIFE SO GO TO HELL!

i agree my only complaint about the show ending is so soon is that we have all been robbed of l&l wedding and future. As dedicated fans we tuned in every week waiting for that moment. I mean we had to sit through a lor & chris marriage really!! I mean this is just plain cruel…..

    I agree Elizabeth.

To some other fellow Rogan fans out there :
Yes, I’m devastated by the fact that Gilmore Girls is ending and that it’s not a satisfying ending for Rogan fans but it’s not just DR’s fault. He’s not pathetic. He’s not a horrible guy. He kept the show going even after Lorelai slept with Christopher and Logan was sent to London. Plus, he gave us some of the best RL and even LL moments. Besides, it’s not just DR who made the decision for the proposal and the answer. And it’s not even him who said “no, I don’t want to take the deal” to CW. So don’t go bashing him. If they got the 8th season DR probably would’ve brought Logan back.

I’m sad and pretty pissed off but that’s not a reason to blame everything on DR and say he sucks. And by the way, we still don’t know exactly what the ending is so I wouldn’t call it the worst just yet. So to the people who are going to watch the series finale, don’t think about how it’s the “worst ending everrrrrr” because that is how it’s going to end and if you’re pissed off the whole time then you’ll miss THE last bantering moments of the show.

    But that’s just my opinion.

I freely admit some of my words are out of anger, but do not misunderstand me. I am fully aware of Lauren Graham’s education, but that is not my implication. As a producer, which she was given the title for at least one episode this season, Lauren Graham could have turned the tides of the Gilmore Girl’s failing plot. Therefore, creatively it could have been in her hands, and in this new title she could have continued to flourish. Apparently the CW couldn’t offer her enough money to continue. That is what I am insinuating. Lauren’s apparent greed in not accepting the offer, and especially her tardiness, is a throwback into her loyal fans faces. We have loved her as Lorelai for almost eight years, and her holding out for more money only to decline the CW’s final offer is appauling and heartbreaking as we came to know and love her under completely false pretenses. I am devastated in her apparent personality flaw and desperately hope that I am wrong in judging her decision.

I am so sad that they cancelled it. However, it is a good point to end it, at the end of Rory’s education. My question is, are we ever going to find out what ASP’s last two lines are now that the show is cancelled?

  • Sarita
    May 4, 2007 at 6:57 pm

The more that I think about it, I feel that ending is fitting given the Rory plot line and that it could be resolved well on that aspect and possibly on the LL aspect if we see them together and I wonder what 13 episodes might have done and that the half season might have been just streching out storylines. I am fine about the ending of GG until I think about no LL wedding, which most fans were wishing for. If there is any reason to keep it going , it is to tive us the wedding. They don’t need to even give us 13 episodes. maybe 2 or 3. Just give us the damn wedding! That is where most of my disappointment lies. I personally didn’t think season 7 was a waste. I think the Christopher storyline had to be introduced to allow Lorelai to grow and to make it clear for once and all that Luke was the one. Even though Luke was always the one, there was always Christopher lingering so season 7 resolved that issue. but they should have added a couple of more episodes to the season if they wnated to end it and just at least include a wedding for LL. i dont know i am rambling now and think too much about this show. I am very disappointed wiht how it is ending not because it is ending.

now that i think about it it not only do we need to see a luke and lorelai wedding, we need to see Kirk and Lu lu get hitched! I LOVE Kirk! and what about Michel? They need to show him not so sour. aww I am going to miss Gilmore Girls and do wish we had at least 2-4 more episodes!

I feel sorry for Loren and Alexis. They played the game well during the series and we are all appreciative.

BUT….They just don’t know that each have ONE GOLDEN MOMENT in life when everything goes well, and is appreciated, and you make good money……..and they both just blew it.

I too have lived this and they might think better things are on the horizen. I doubt it.

It’s the McClean Stevenson - Mash thing all over again.

Thanks for the show, I really enjoyed it and appreciate your acting. It was great for the time the show aired.

I just wish both of them a happy life everafter…….

Based on the interview I read from Lauren, I have a feeling that this was more about storyline and whether there was enough storyline avaliable (or a good stoyrline to being with) to do a season eight and not merely about money. I don’t think there was enough storyline for thirteen episodes; mabye 2-4 with regards to the LL wedding and maybe a kirk wedding but beyond that I think they would be streching it. they didn’t want to end it with a wedding so they felt it was okay to end it now, but I disagree completely to not have a wedding. I can see how they wouldn’t have wanted to show a wedding-it could be potentially cheesy- but as someone else on another board mentioned, they could have made it less cheesy with showing the town’s involvlement in the whole affair and they would have been able to retain the quirkiness of the show AND give us a wedding. I tihnk I am analyzing this too much but those are my thoughts.

Elizabeth, that is a great quote, especially for this. Though, I must admit, I did cry when I found out it was over.

The entire time I was crying, all I could think was “Gilmore girls is ending. We will never get to see Luke and Lorelai’s relationship, especially now that Chris has been taken out of the equation.”

I was looking forward to a season 8 so much. Just the thought of Luke and Lorelai finally staying together made me so happy.

I am slightly annoyed that all we will get to see is the Luke and Lorelai kiss. I would think after a full seven years leading up to this, counting all of their other relationships, they would give us a little more. Just a look into their happy life together.
