Lauren Graham on Ellen

May 8, 2007 by Jeanne

Lauren Graham gives her first tv interview with Ellen since the announcement that Gilmore Girls would be ending.

What do you think of Lauren’s comment about hearing about it from her agent? I didn’t think that really fit well with her commentary about why the show ended, and her choices there. So, maybe she had agreed to more? What do you think?

    That cheered me up.
But I’m still depressed because it’s ending.
    :[ // :]

  2. Charlene says:

Nice interview, however to be honest i was a little disapointed at her reaction to the end. but i supose she was ready for it to end…..

  3. Mike says:

“A great season finale, and a nice show finale”

A nice show finale? Well that doesn’t sound too promising. I think Lauren’s reaction to the show was that she was ready for it to be over. I’ve said this before, but I think when Amy left she was ready too. The character of Lorelai was Amy.

  4. Sara says:

Yeah! exactly what I thought. I also think that the writers where quite good, but noone is as good/great as AMS. So the writers didn´t “catch” the real Lorelai during the whole season.
I´m really sad that it´s going to end but I start to think that it´s the best for the show, too. he dialogues weren´t that good as they used to be, the characters weren´t as “weird” as the used to be (or it seemd forced) and an 8th season might have been the downfall of this fabulous show.

    Lauren looks pretty much moved

While Lauren Graham is a funny, silly, somewhat nervously giggly interview, I am still very disappointed that there was no depth to her interview about her cast members, etc.

While I don’t need to know about her personal life, it would be nice to hear her mention her past 7 years working with the likes of Melissa McCarthy, Sally Struthers, Liz Torres, the great Kelly Bishop and the even greater Ed Herrmann.

I hope to see more of that in the days to come, after the last episode via tv interviews or magazine interviews. Maybe Michael Ausiello will get the hint and do a piece on all of them.

    First…Mike, you sait it all:
    “Lorelai was Amy”.
And come on guys, don’t balame Lauren or Alexis for the end of the show!
    It’s not fair!
The show couldn’t continue without Amy.
It’s not Lauren or Alexis’ fault!
…Lauren is great, she’s going to be remembered forever. She’s the best actress ever!
…She’s part of the television history, and she’ll always be.She made every one fall in love with Lorelai, only because she was playing her.
    Lauren is unic.
    She’s unforgettable.
…And it’s REALLY hard to say good bye to the show, to Lorelai.
    …Don’t blame her…It’s not fair!

  8. Gretchen says:

I adore lauren, but I guess I would have liked to hear her say something about how she would miss the other cast members too. She seems really happy that Gilmore Girls is over. It’s just hard for me (and others, I’m sure) to imagine being happy about that. I wish her the best, though. I think she’s a genuinely nice person.

  9. Pamela Baker says:

I don’t think that anyone person is to blame for the demise of Gilmore Girls - it was conceived to last 7 seasons w/Rory’s graduating from Yale. End of story. It is just a shame that the CW network people couldn’t “negotiate” (the term ASP used) with the Palladino’s to let them take this thru to the end. We will never know how ASP had intended to write the last episode, and that it a loss.

At any rate, I have been entertained by the whole cast throughout the past 7 years and considering what he was left with, Dave Rosenthal didn’t do a bad job trying to wrap up the show.

Realize that all good things must end.

i really liked the interview you can really see laurens actual personality in her character lorelai and thats what makes her such a good actress. even though she didnt talk about the ending of gilmore girls too much you can tell that she was upset… i mean, the whole agent thing, i dont know but it doesnt really seem that she wanted it to end

  11. Roschelle says:

    I know!
Lauren completely went down from great to nice. Yeah, like that’s reassuring for us who want a satisfying ending.

  12. C says:

Lauren wasn’t on Ellen to talk about Gilmore Girls she was on it to promote Evan Almight i mean she only found out the day before.
And what’s with the people that are talking about the whole great and then nice thing that she says what’s the big deal she’s having an interview she’s not going to say the same word a heap of times. She likes it leave it at that. Don’t read so much into it

  13. C says:

    Evan Almighty i meant write

  14. yaya says:

  15. such a gilmore says:

I’m soooo sad it’s ending- I can’t believe tonight is the last episode!

p.s. The purple bedding Rory had at Yale is up for sale on ebay. Search Gilmore Girls Rory’s dorm bedding (it’s item #: 220112727951)

  16. FLGirl2 says:

I think Lauren was trying to be positive and put on a happy face, but she’s really sad and/or upset about it ending…that’s the way I see it anyway.

  17. José Rieiro says:
