Alexis Bledel keeping quiet
Is anyone else a little disappointed that Alexis Bledel has not given any interviews since the announcement that Gilmore Girls is ending?
We’ve had several interviews now from Lauren Graham, in tv and print, but no comment from Alexis. Heck, we’ve even had Matt Czuchry give his thoughts on the situation.
I can understand that she might be upset. Or not. Perhaps she doesn’t want to be attacked. But, out of respect to the fans, I personally would like to see her commentary on the end of the show.
What do you think?

I think Lauren is showing her the way to respond to these questions and she’ll parrot her.
BTW…Arieanna, thank YOU for all of your hard work and dedication over the years. I wouldn’t know a quarter of what I know without all of your love and devotion to the show and your crazy internet friends. :-)
You are the greatest!!!

I would love to hear from Alexis, just because we don’t hear much from her.
I mean she must have something to say after working on something for so long.

I was just thinking the exact same thing about Alexis! I wonder if it’s just her keeping quiet, or if Lauren is just getting the offers for interviews and perhaps Alexis isn’t? That seems a little hard to believe, though. Hmm…

That’s Alexis and maybe that’s what we like about her…
I think she has mixed feelings about the whole situation. Thanks to the Gilmore Girls she found love ( Milo, friends and fans ), she got famous, will be a great actress / producer and will have a big future.
On the other hand she got bored playing Rory for these years. After looking at those candid shots on the Gilmore set ( Rory’s graduation ), I think she looked really bored, think about it, it properly is!

I would like to hear AB’s take on all this, but I doubt it would be different than LG’s.

What is there to say when you are so depressed. I knew the end was coming I just didn’t think it was coming so fast. I admit since the show moved to the CW there was no where else for it to go. Last night when I saw the news I broke down crying. I called my friend (was my best friend for eight years) and she was crying to. this was the one thing that still held us together. I told my other friend and although he was sad he said “It’s just a show get over it and move on. but that’s just the point. it’s not just a show. It became a family to me over the last seven years. My mom and i are best friends just like the two lorelai’s
and people think it is weird that we are that close. But I don’t I just see it as another extension of the gilmore family. I would just like to personally thank the cast of gilomore girls for being there every manic monday (you introduced me to the bangles). Bringing a Luke Danes to my life ( I know he will never leave. bringing Jess on to the show (Can you say heart throb). And most of all teaching me that boys suck…boys really suck. So anyway thanks for the best seven years of my life. i will never forget the show, the witty gilmorisms and will always think, wwtld(what would the lorelai’s do)
LOVE YOU ALL

Call me Pollyanna, but I have not given up hope. I have seen shows cancelled and then saved. I’m praying this will be one of them. I understand some of the cast’s desire to move on. But I’m selfish. I love the Gilmore Girls. I’m thankful I have the DVD’s. I’d even settle for a spinoff, as long as the GG regulars are mentioned and/or guest star once in awhile. How about it, Kirk? Doose? Babette?

AB probably does not give a good interview (having seen her do one), especially since she is apprehensive about questions regarding her private life.
I would prefer to see all of the cast from Ed Herrman, Kelly Bishop, LG, AB, Scott Peterson, Melissa, Keiko sit on a dias and be interviewed about GG’s and their 7 years of working with each other and the crew. Now that would be a good interview.
Also, I really want to hear from Amy Sherman Palladino after May 15th.

“AB probably does not give a good interview (having seen her do one)”
Judging by the sad and pathetic mentality some people on the board have, you can’t blame her for not wanting to talk to the fans. The same fans who have attacked her for no reason because their favorite show was ending, despite the fact that the show was dragging itself along for two seasons.
She owns the fans nothings.

I think that Lauren has had no choice but to speak out about Gilmore girls, as these interviews were probably schedueled as press for the release of her movie Evan Almighty. Of course any good reporter is also going to ask her about Gilmore Girls. It’s my guess that Lauren wouldn’t be speaking so soon if she did not have this movie to promote. Either way, I’m glad to hear her side of it. (and would love to hear from both Scott Patterson and Melissa McCarthy)

I PERSONALLY DONT GIVE A SHIT WHAT ALEXIS NEEDS TO SAY…. SHE IS THE MAIN REASON WHY GILMORE GIRLS IS ENDING WHICH IS PROBABLY WHY SHE ISNT SAYING ANYTHING AND SHE WOULD PROBABLY LIE LIKE LAUREN DID –EVEN THOUGH LAUREN IS MY FAVORITE ACTRESS AND I WILL LOVE HER FOREVER….BUT STILL ITS HER FAULT GILMORE GIRLS IS CANCELLED AND THATS FINAL.

Susan, I wouldn’t hold your breath on that one. I know that shows like Seventh Heaven came back, but I think that all the actors and people on the show really want it to be over. I know it’s sad, but I think that is just the way it is.

Ok, I am seriously gonna start crying now because I was planning a trip to LA!!
“Funny, I’m the last one to post on this thread, but since it was over a week ago, I’ll assume it’s OK to post again. During my trip to L.A., I went on the deluxe WB tour (the tour was Monday). We scheduled it before we left and found out at the airport the day we were leaving for L.A. that GG was cancelled, so the timing was just coincidence. Our tour guide was wonderful and when mr. blackbird mentioned to our guide just how much I love GG, he pointed out every single GG reference along the way. He pointed out the building that was used as April’s school, the tree that was Rory’s study tree, the coffee shop they used as a New York coffee shop for a Logan phone call, the potting shed from the Independence Inn days, etc. Then we got to Stars Hollow, and the la la’s just started in my head. Sadly, they were already tearing down the sets, so Luke’s was just an empty shell (it was still cool to see the outside and inside, though). The gazebo still had twinkle lights all over it, but much of the outside set decorations were gone. The outside of the Crap Shack looked much the same, Lorelai’s Jeep was still parked in a nearby lot, and the chuppah was resting safely inside the pink and blue garage along with the mailbox. Mrs. Kim’s house was also still in tact and we got to wander through all the “antiques.” However, many of the interior sets were already down or nearly down. They were tearing down the Dragonfly set that day, so we didn’t get to see it, and hardly anything was left of Luke’s apartment. They were also tearing down the Gilmore house set, but the major parts of the set were still there, so we were able to go inside. Walking through the foyer was surreal. Although all the furniture was gone, you could still tell what all the rooms were and the kitchen looked much the same. Sadly, all the interior sets are probably gone by now–they don’t waste any time. Our guide was very sad to see them go because he said the Stars Hallow set was his favorite. It was a lovely way to say goodbye to the show, though, outside of just watching the finale. I’m still catching up on work, but I’ll try to post photos soon since I took a ton.”

I was totally thinking the same thing and i did voice that same topic on the CW boards earlier in the week, why is it that she isnt around she seems to have dropped off the face of the planet and that sucks. i want to know her opinions on the whole end of season stuff. however with the way everyone is attacking her as if its her fault who could blam her? we will have to see if anything comes out, i wish there was a real send off for the whole cast, i heard that alexis didnt even go to the season (what they thought was the season) wrap party and thats kinda dumb as well. i am annoyed with the fact that they didnt know that the episode was the series finale and they shot it just like anyother episode, they had no idea and i feel as though this will signifigantly impact on the way they leave the show and i predict that many fans including me will be very disapointed with the ending, but i supose time will only tell. i also agree with you guys above about Amy, i would love to hear what shes thinking about them cancelling and what she though of this season.
anyway my rant over :)

@shayna: Comments like yours are completely unnecessary and unfair to both Alexis Bledel and Lauren Graham. Those two have given us 7 fantastic years and we shouldn’t be anything but grateful. We should respect their decisions and look forward to their future projects. We don’t know for sure why exactly GG was cancelled and we probably never will. We should not blame anyone for it because we just don’t know what happened! And even if we knew there still wouldn’t be a reason to blame anyone.

YAY!!
I was wondering what was gonna happen to the site.
One idea I had, though I don’t know about it, was continuing the Gilmore tradition. For everyone that has the DVDs, we could start from the pilot and watch every Tuesday that Gilmore Girls would usually be on, and we could talk about it or whatever.
Just something I was thinking about. Doesn’t have to happen or anything, just an idea.

To Molly: Judging by your response, have you never read anything at all about Ms. Bledel and her dislike for interviews and people approaching her just to say hi?
I don’t blame her or anyone else for the demise of GG. I would just like to see a “Dorothy Parker” roundtable discussion by the whole cast after the last episode.
Chill out….this is suppose to be fun and not accusatory.

Well, from some of the comments I’ve read here, I’m sure she probably doesn’t want to be attacked! Geez, some of you sound like you’re out to kill the poor girl, simply because the show has run its course, and she - and other actresses - would like to be able to do other things without exhausting themselves.
Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE the show. LOVE it. But the truth is, the past two seasons haven’t been all that great, for the most part. They’ve had their moments, but nothing like in the show’s earlier days.
And if you really think about it, Gilmore Girls without the “GIRLS” wouldn’t be as good. Rory can only make so many useless trips to Stars Hollow, right? We’re lucky they found a way to pull it off while she was in college. Having her drop everything and move to CALIFORNIA of all places, was not what Rory’s real character would want. If the show had progressed in that direction, we’d just see weeks and weeks of her missing her mom and her hometown and her friends. But she’s too big and goal-oriented to stay in Stars Hollow, so she’d have to move somewhere. And wherever she’d go, it’d make the show much different than what it once was.
Here lies the beauty of DVD. We’ll always have the ability to watch. :)

I do think we need to respect their decision. They were tired and frankly, it’s been showing for a long time. But what about some respect for the show that has made them what they are today (instead of going out with a bang, it’s going down in an athmosphere of sadness and bitterness, with a measly two weeks notice), for the people that have worked with them for seven years, who perhaps didn’t get the chance to properly say goodbye and process the end of the show (not knowing they were wrapping up the series instead of just the season; missing out on a lot of money, as starting on a new show (for Kirk, Sookie, Michel, Luke …) will almost necessarily mean starting at a lower pay-rate), respect for the fans who have been miserable for quite some time but stuck with the show out of loyalty and the hope for better things to come. I do respect their decision, and that Rory’s graduation is the logical time to end this series. But had Lauren and Alexis been more straightforward from the beginning, had they not beaten about the bush for so long, this show might have had the ’satisfying’ closure that it, and we deserve!

I think what bothers me the most is how everyone including the CW is saying that the show was cancelled. No network cancels thier highest rated show. Lauren and Alexys did not wnat to do it anymore. The CW offered them a lot more money and a 13 episode season and they still would not sign new contracts. So how can they call it a cancelation? I think it is more acurate to say that the lead actors QUIT!!!! Now maybe I am wrong about this since I am just going on what I have read. I just don’t see any logic in it. I think that is why Alexys is not making any comments. She knows that if the truth were told it is her fault the series is not returning. Again this is just my opinion.

Karen - it doesn’t matter what the reason behind it is. If a show will no longer be on the air, the rightful term is “cancelled.” I understand you’re upset, and I understand WHY you’re upset. But in all honesty, the term “cancelled” is being applied because…that’s what it is. :)

So I guess Seinfeld, and Friends and Raymond were all cancelled as well. Hmmmmm Wonder why those networks didn’t call it that.

This last year was not the same and I think Alexis and Lauren didnt want to put all of the time and enery into it if it was not going to be the show that it was before Amy left. I think if the CW would have given Amy 2 more seasons like she asked for, we would be gearing up to watch Season 8, so blame the CW not Alexis and lauren.
I think Alexis is a very shy and private person and she doens’t want to face angry fans who blame her for the show being over. She had her reasons even if it was her fault for the show ending.

I´m not blaming anyone for the end of GG
And of course everyone of us knew that it would not air forever like ER but what makes me feel so bad is the way it ended
other shows which are that awesome know that there is an ending an they just try to do what is worth it
I remember when friends ended and I think that was just great cuz it really was a good ending for every fan but with GG it was just a season ending and whatever is coming in the last episode I know it just won´t end the story as it deserves
plus the most ennoying thing is what they (network) has done … let us hope that there will be a next season with probably all the storylines end in a respectful way BUT THAN ..cancelled !!!
I was shocked and I probably will be for a long time

well i honestly dont think AB is that great of an actress. its a wonder she landed the job in the first place. whatever the reason the show is over, well i guess we just got to move on. the last 2 seasons were so-so anyway, so you won’t be missing much. time to turn to another tv show.

Here is what I think about who owes who what.
The actors owe their fans the best performance they are capable of giving.
The actors owe their fans, who take a studio tour or happen to be on location, their politeness in acknowledging the fan. Just as I would in my municipal office if a resident would come in for business or otherwise.
I do not believe an actor has to engage in any type of conversation, other than a smile, while they are at a grocery store buying milk, etc. While I do believe that is part of the stardom package (recognition), there are too many security issues to be considered. I think fans should also be respectful of certain situations and not approach, unless they seem approachable.
Mmes. Graham & Bledel are ready to move on. It is that simple.

Slar -
Thanks for the info on the Letterman interview - I’ve been looking everywhere for some word from Alexis - even though she most likely won’t go into detail about the end of the show. Her other interviews with Letterman were about her family and promoting her movies, but at least she hasn’t gone into hiding - Everyone is just being too cruel - We seem to hold actors to a higher standard than we would tolerate ourselves in our careers! Bottom line, she’s young - if the work was that exhausting or she was unable to have time to enjoy life, or spend time on relationships or with family - she is right to move on - those are the really important things in life, and won’t be around forever. Put yourselves in her place - is there anyone out there who would sacrifice their personal happiness for a job, or worse, millions of people who don’t even know you, yet who turn on you the moment you stand up for yourself ? Give the girl a break!

I totally agree with you vicki. She started GG’s when she was like 18. When i was 18, i was hanging out with friends all day, getting my acceptance letters. She was working 12 hour days FOR THE NEXT 7 YEARS OF HER LIFE. Wow, that is truly amazing stamina. She is beautiful, sweet, and kindhearted, and i am glad she is moving on with her life. I hope to see great things from her in the future. On the regards of privacy, i wouldnt want millions of people knowing what i was doing with my life. I can hardly tell my sister i drink coffee now after 20 years of being against it (dont ask, i know what ur thinking). I dont blame her if she doesnt want to do a season 8 although i would really like to see a s.8. Do what Rory told all of Stars Hollow to do when she was going off to college and Taylor wanted her to be the Ice Cream Queen…she got up and said “Get off my back.” She did it well and she should probably do it again, but as Alexis. We all just wish Alexis reads her fan mail. Never happens tho, its “creepy.”

I think we should give her and Lauren a break. I accept their opinion not coming back for an 8th season. The 7th season was a great end. I never imagined Lorelai as a wife or Rory. I think Rory is too young to get married. I don’t need an end.

i’m only on 2005 season where she just meets Logan and jumps off the 4 story platform with an umbrella. Its getting good…she’s havin a hard time spending time with Dean and is finding the “bad” side of her. You can tell she’s fallin for Logan. I wonder what happens with that story she was suppose to write.
Casey
Sep 21, 2007 at 4:11 pm
okay yea, she is totally falling for logan, but Marty…he fell for her a long time ago. That will create complications for sure. I’m guessing Rory and Logan play a little get-back-at-the-other game. Then they finally realize they really like eachother. I’m just about to see the one where Rory helps Logan with his news paper, and her grandparents get back together. Cant wait to see what happens next!!!
