Gilmore Girls Spoilers - “Bon Voyage”

by Arieanna on May 15th, 2007

This is the final spoilers post - ever - for Gilmore Girls. Sad, but true.

You’ve likely all read the spoilers that have been on the Season 7 post here, but I’ll recap behind the cut with NEW SPOILERS.

Episode 7.22: Bon Voyage - Series Finale
Air date May 15, 2007
There will be no time jump to the end of the season. Rory will meat her idol, Christiane Amanpour, a CNN journalist. Logan will not be in the episode. Chris will not be in the episode. A curtain is being painted with fish and seahorses. All the townies are in the finale. Filming is set up at Sookie’s (at night, and Sookie gives Lorelai a fanny pack) and Luke’s Diner. Lorelai tells Luke they need to cancel a party. There is a "Bon Voyage, Rory" sign. Rory accepts a job in Iowa as a reporter for an online magazine following Barak Obama on the campaign trail. Lorelai drives around the town square over and over in her jeep. Tour accounts of a wedding dress and accessories. Luke and Lorelai come to a new understanding. Luke decides to still throw Rory a party - as a surprise. The final scene features 3 characters and "brings the show full circle." It’s Rory’s last meal at the diner - a scene which mirrors the finale of Season 1. Luke’s trip with April is cancelled. Lorelai and Rory have to cancel their summer trip when Rory goes to Iowa. Rory does not get the Reston fellowship. Fearing it will rain for the party, Lorelai has Luke & the town erect a tarp over the gazebo out of shower curtains and miscellaneous plastic. Luke and Lorelai hae a passionate kiss. Rory makes a speech to the town thanking them for giving her a great start in life.

New Spoilers

  • Emily & Richard will be at the party.
  • Christiane Amanpour is a guest at the Dragonfly Inn
  • Lorelai is so touched by Luke’s efforts to throw Rory the party, she runs to him to hug/kiss him - he reciprocates
  • Lorelai and Rory talk about their summer trip together, which includes roller coasters. The trip is cancelled because of Rory’s new job.
  • The town cheers for Rory as they pull up to the party
  • Night scene at Sookies where she gives Lorelai a fanny pack
  • The Jeep is back in action
  • The mirror scene that ends Gilmore Girls is like how it began. This is the scene from the pilot: Rory and Lorelai in the diner after family dinner. They both ask for coffee, Rory for chile fries. Luke is disgusted with her eating habits. He’s all groomed up after a meeting at the bank. Luke tells Rory to stop, that she doesn’t want to grow up to be like her mom. Rory says "too late."

This Lorelai quote from tonight’s episode is aptly fitting:

"If I stop to think about you leaving…I’m gonna fall apart."

Okay, this is just so sad. I can’t believe it’s ending. I can’t believe it will be over after tonight.
And, yes, this fits so perfectly: “If I stop to think about you leaving…I’m gonna fall apart.”

And even sadder for me is that I can’t watch it tonight because I live in Germany and this makes me wanna cry even more cuz I dunno I don’t wanna read the recap but watch it first I mean IT IS the LAST episode EVER, but I know me and come tomorrow morning I’m gonna fall apart…and sorry for the rambling, I just can’t believe it…still.

I just hope GG will live on in all our hearts, as sappy as it sounds, it was a part of my life and I’m gonna miss it dearly even tho I just discovered this marvelous show last summer (after i had my wisdom teeth pulled and was kinda bed ridden my friend lent me the 1st season on dvd and the rest is history…:D)

This show holds my heart. I love it, the characters and every little aspect of it.

I just hope GG will get the send-off it deserves and they won’t let us leave hanging. I’m optimistic that it will be a great finale (even though it’s only considered a NICE series finale…)
I think it’s looking rather good, and I mean come on we still have our imagination even if they won’t wrap up the Luke/Lorelai story at all and have Rory single. That’s still good. We are supposed to be imaginative and create our own ‘ending’ if you must say so. We were (still are IMO) a part of one of the most intelligent shows out there, we can do it! (I’m in kinda strange mood today, but really who can blame me?!)

What’s left to say is that I hope GG will be remembered.
Remembered as the show it was with it’s characters, wittiness, intelligence, drama, comedy, relationships and every tiny little aspect there is to be remembered (which IMO are all even when I didn’t agree with the storyline or the ways certain characters acted it’s still all pretty much amazing…)
I hope generations after us will happen upon this show and will watch it and will be left in awe.

Let us all remember the actors, too with their incredible work they put into making GG what it is/was. (I especially adore and worship Lauren Graham, i really hope she gets an Emmy and a Golden Globe this year…she’s that amazing.)

Thank you for letting me ramble.
Thank you Arieanna for this great site I hope you’ll continue this page with what the actors are up to etc.

So long, Gilmore Girls. It’s been a blast.

The series finale was sad and i think it could of been done much better. Give us some ending that will make it good. I mean nothing was wrapped up and there are so many questions that could of been answered. So disappointed!

i thought it was amazing. they covered everything, all the relationships, everything that needed to happen (of course luke and lorelai could get married, but other than that…) and it was still so gilmoreish. it was a good finale and it wasn’t all cliche ‘ill miss you so much blah blah blah. amazing.

i am so disapointed they did not go on for another season, especially with so many unaswered questions. this by far was some of the best writting and acting ever done for television.

I have watched the entire series of Gilmore Girls at least 3 times all the way through and some seasons multiple times after that on their own. I never cry, ever, at/for films or anything but I bawled like a baby when I saw the finalle. Everyone in one place again and knowing I wouldn’t get to watch this show anymore just made me feel SO sad. This show really helped hit a special place in my heart that no other show has ever done. It gave me what I felt I was missing in my own life and if I could I would move and live in Stars Hollow if I had the chance. Someone should just make up this place so those of us who need it can have it :0) I would give anything to see this show truly end and as I look out the window today I see snow and think of the episode where Lorelai is just in love with it, and I agree. There is something magical in snow… I truly hope and think that the actors and actresses will find that they cannot avoid or leave this show for too long. They will miss it too… hopefully enough for just a while longer?

I truly appreciate all that the Gilmore Girls cast has given me, and I wish the best to all of you.
