“Farewell, My Pet” as Emmy Candidate for Lauren Graham
Lauren Graham has submitted "Farewell, My Pet" to the Emmy’s for consideration for Best Drama Actress. Already a finalist, the episode does influence the outcome, of course. In the past, Gilmore Girls was always categorized as a Comedy, but now the consideration is being given it for the Drama category.
I think this episode was a great choice by Lauren. It definitely showed off her full range as an actress. From the comic funeral of Michel’s dog, to the scene with Christopher where she breaks off their marriage.
Good Luck Lauren! After all these years, you really deserve the Emmy!

if she wins the emmy, maybe she’ll come back and decide the “demanding schedule” is okay
she deserves the emmy though

OMG I am so Happy she submitted this episode, it was one of the best I love animals and work as a Veterinary Technician. My Beloved Feline Maine Coon Male Sprout passed away February 10, 2007 just days before this aired, I really felt like Sprout was with me watching it and he was with Chin Chin, honouring both of them, how very fitting that was you have no idea how much comfort that show brought me and I did like Michel I bought him a Beautiful wreath of flowers! God how I miss my little Sprouty. Our song was always Wherever You Lead (Carole King) I would sing him Wherever Sprouty Leads Mommy Follows Kissing him for all of the 7 years of the show, so the shows end was tearfully hearbreaking for me on so many levels it was and will always be our favourite show. Please bear with me as hearing Lauren chose this episode means the world to me and has a very meaningful and special significance. Sprouty had Chronic Renal Failure lived for 17 long years but was very very sick since November 06, I was basically his 24 hour nurse fluids, medicine, I have peace knowing he got the very best of every creature comfort imagineable, and I would do it all over again. He was very agile and spritely up to the very end, as he took his last few breaths I sang him Wherever You Lead Sprouty Mommy Follows. He was the most courageous gentle loving creature I will ever know. My valiant little Hero Sprouty. I am crying right now, can’t write anymore. I have been crying profusely all night missing my Sprouty and our Gilmore Girls.
Thank you Lauren, this particular episode will always be one of the most touching caring Gilmore Girl episodes that I will remember ’til the day I die.
I Will Always Love You.
Thank you everyone for letting me speak about my Beloved Little Sprouty Love, I really find peace and comfort expressing how I am feeling right now.
Blessings

i rewatched that episode and yes…lauren was amazing.
She just has to has to has to win that emmy.
After being snubbed all this time…. they just give us this one at least. It would be perfect to receive an emmy after 7 years of excellent gilmore stuff.

I think Kelly Bishop should have been considered for a best supporting actress in a drama also - unfortunate that they didn’t submit one for her too.

Lauren will go down in history as one of the great ones. She deserves an Emmy for GG. I just hope any future roles she takes do justice to her. It would be hard to top the work she’s done on the show. I totally agree that Kelly Bishop should also get recognition. What a pro!! No one could have played Emily Gilmore the way she did!! Love her. I don’t hold high hopes for an emmy. GG has been snubbed for years. All the really good show are. It’s like the powers-that-be don’t know how to recognize real talent when they see it. I hope to see ALL the cast members in new and exiting roles. It would be a shame if any of them just faded away.

I agree with everyone that Kelly should get a well deserved nomination, it is apalling to me to think this woman or this show in general has not been recognized, there isn’t a show on television that has better writing or acting, it took over a week to film one episode!! We will never see the likes of Kelly again, she was both professional and impeccable a master at her craft! Lauren also deserves the emmy. My thought on this is, sadly, that they will get the emmy this time, Lauren will, only because the show is no more and they will feel sorry for them, talk about injustice. I just wish they’d get all this reality crap off television people so mean to each other, don’t we all need to see some Happiness and Brotherhood/Sisterhood in these troubled times.
Blessings,
Ann

Lauren DEFINITELY deserves an Emmy. The show has been snubbed year after year, hopefully this year it will actually win!

Well I guess it’s a good thing she didn’t submit the series finale episode because it SUCKED! How fitting that she would submit a Lorelai / Christopher episode. I hope she doesn’t win just because of the episode she chose to submit. I’m sorry to be so negative but I’m a little ticked off at Lauren Graham right now for what she did to the fans.

Robin, why are you so ticked off at Lauren Graham? She has a life too, you know. She deserves a break and, anyway, the show ended on a good note.

Are you kidding me? Do you really think that Lauren Graham had nothing to do with all the time that was wasted on the Christopher episodes? She definately had pull and her dislike for Scott Patterson is what kept us from the ending we all wanted. How petty is that? How many actresses do you know out there that would turn down a pay increase and a half season? She screwed the rest of the cast out of their jobs too. She thinks she’s too good for the show now. This is the show that actually put her on the map. The fans put her on the map and do you think she’s the least bit thankful for that? NOPE. She knew what the majority of the fans wanted and her pettiness kept us from seeing it. Personally I think the series finale was disrespectful to the fans. I really believe that we deserved more and the reason we didn’t get it was Lauren Graham. I am definately one angry fan.

Hey, Carrie… Are you Luke’s admirer from the ‘Fiddler on the roof’ episode? ehehe… sorry, I guess this is not really funny.
Anyway, I hope Lauren gets selected and wins, even more now that the series is over, and if she wins she must go on the podium and thank everyone from the cast and the fans. If she wins, everybody wins. Robin, you don’t know anything if you say those things about Lauren. She had no pull for how the first dozen episodes went, she became producer after those. The reason why the first part of the season was painful (but not awful) to watch is because ASP decided to make Lauren jump in that friggin’ Christopher’s bed. It’s all her fault, actually. But I don’t care actually because this season for me was way more interesting, exciting and touching than the sixth and I think she and Rosenthal did a ’s wonderful ’s marvelous job!

Am I the only 62 yo who was thoroughly adicted to this series? I so admired Lorelai and Rory’s relationship, I guess because I was a single mom and didn’t have the same closeness with my daughter. Lauren more than deserves the award. She portrayed a very convincing character. I so wanted the Luke ending but the series was really centered around Lorelai and Rory’s relationship.
