Ausiello Vodcast with Scott Patterson
Ausiello did a video podcast last Tuesday with Scott Patterson. The interview was partially shared by Ausiello in text form a few days earlier, but this is an extra bit.
Here is the transcript:
Ausiello: Hey Scott
Scott: Hey Mike
Ausiello: How are ya?
Scott: I’m good, how you doin?
Ausiello: I’m good. So, tell me, what was your reaction to hearing that the show was ending?
Scott: You know, I kind of expected it. And I think I was probably a little relieved. And disappointed at the same time. You know, just so many things went through me when I heard the news. I wasn’t terribly shocked.
Ausiello: You know, tell me, were you satisfied with the way the Luke & Lorelai story was wrapped up?
Scott: No, I wasn’t - because there was still a lot of life left in it. But also, you know, less is more. Because it leaves in the audience’s imagination where it could go, and that’s really… that’s the writing, you know? Why give them the full meal? And I know a lot of fans are a little upset because they feel unsatisfied. We hung in there for so long. You know, we didn’t get the ‘full monty’, so to speak, but I think that the show will live in their imaginations longer as a result of this type of an ending, so.
Ausiello: Over the years, there’ve been speculations and rumors that you and Lauren had some rocky times. Would you say that’s accurate?
Scott: No, I think it’s not accurate. It’s really inaccurate. And I think that people thrive on rumor and innuendo. And that sells papers or gets people to click onto websites. But, we would hear those things and just laugh. Because we had a very comfortable working relationship. And I enjoyed doing scenes with her, because I knew that she was going to hit the ball back over the net as good as she got. So, yeah, all of that stuff was just overblown.
Ausiello: Would you work with her again?
Scott: Oh absolutely. I would work again with her in a heartbeat. She happens to be a very very very good actress. And I would jump at the chance to work with her again.
Ausiello: Well, thank you Scott for joining us today.
Scott: Thank you Mike, thanks for your support over the years.
Ausiello: You bet, best of luck to you.
