Gilmore Girls may get 2 HOUR MOVIE

Ausiello is forever my best friend for sharing this great Gilmore Girls news. And so sneaky about it too!

The full quote is below, but the jist of it is this: Amy-Sherman Palladino, the fabulous creator and life of Gilmore Girls, wants to MAKE A 2-HOUR GILMORE GIRLS MOVIE.

Question: So, what gives? There is no way you could still be at Fox’s upfront party. Did you track down AS-P, and, if so, what were the final four words she had in mind for Gilmore Girls?
Ausiello: OK, here’s the deal: Yes, I tracked her down, but, no, she did not cough up those elusive four words. But wait — there’s more. And it’s good. No, amazing. No, un-frakkin’-believable. Amazing, even. Wait, did I say that already? Well, it’s true. Because just as I was about to brand her a big ol’ promise-breaker right there in front of all those industry types, Amy explained why she couldn’t divulge her long-ago-planned Gilmore ending. (Gilmore fanatics: This is the time in Sprockets when you either lean on a heavy object or just sit down.) In the next year or two, she hopes to make — wait for it — a two-hour Gilmore Girls TV-movie that ties up all those loose threads! I nearly fell over when she said it — especially given what she told me back in December. (BTW, lest you think Amy was pulling my leg, her partner in life and in showbiz, Dan Palladino, confirmed that a GG reunion pic is something they’re interested in pursuing.) And I wasn’t the only one floored by this development. "She said what?" gasped Scott Patterson after I relayed the information to him over the phone. "I didn’t think she would be interested in doing something like that. But if she says she is, I would seriously consider it." Alexis Bledel was equally stunned. "A Gilmore Girls reunion?" she said with a laugh. "That’s certainly not something I had thought of doing. That’s really funny, I have no idea how I would feel in a few years. I don’t know, I’m sure the script Amy would write would be great, but I guess I’d have to read it and see how I felt at the time." Last but not least, Lauren Graham e-mailed me late last night to say, "Could be a fun idea if everyone wanted to do it. I would do it just to get the four final words out of Amy. They torture me." Stand by for a comment from Warner Bros. big cheese Peter Roth.

OMG OMG OMG! MORE GILMORE GIRLS. We love you Amy!! And everyone had better say yes!! What better way to tie things up than to have the heart and soul of Gilmore Girls, Amy-Sherman Palladino, paint a picture of how to end Gilmore Girls gracefully!!

This is awesome! No words can explain how much better I feel now. ASP and the cast back together would be so incredible! We might actually get those last four words yet! I’d much rather hear those last four words from the actors mouths on a screen then typed up after the fact. I really hope that they would all agree to it. All would be right in the Gilmore world. I never ever ever go to the movies because I’m a chain smoker and I can’t smoke in the movie theater but I would give up smoking for two hours to see it! Then I would buy the DVD when it comes out! I am so excited!! This is great news!

Like all hard-core GG fans, I would love for Amy to finish off the story as she envisioned it. And if anyone can pull it off, she can.

Please remember that this is not in the bag. In fact, what I read was that she “hopes” to do this “in the next year or two.” And that the cast is not ruling out the possibility… But a lot can happen in a year or two.

I know I’ll jump up and down when they announce the actual production schedule!

I am stunned and happy. Sooo hope that this comes true. As long as they can get everyone on board, they can finish gilmore girls the way that it should have been finished with Amy Sherman-Palladino.

I’m guessing Amy is doing this because she isnt happy how the show ended, and there are so many questions. Im happy to hear this news and excited that a movie will happen. I just hope all the cast will come back and make this movie/show a hit, and everyone will love it.

I don’t want to get my hopes up but I can’t help it I’m really excited about this. I hope this isn’t going to be the whole season eight (crushed dreams) thing all over again. With ASP back we have the potential for the return of Jess! How great would that be? I really hope that ASP reads this and knows that the only way GG would be perfect for me is to end it with L/L and R/J. I wonder how many other people would have liked her to end up with Jess?

I’m thinking this may be an excellent market ploy to generate viewers for her new series The Return of Jezebel James and a good one at that.

As for the GG reunion, when they tell me the date, time and channel to watch, then I will believe it.

There are some loose ends to tie up, unforunately we didn’t get another season and instead received a rushed finale. This would be great. We know in the finale, LL got back together and Rory is going to Iowa.

If we get a movie, will we finally see LL get married? I’m waiting for the payoff we deserve with this couple. Lauren may not like it, but the fans will love it! I’d like to see Rory go after Logan or possibly go back to Jess.

I’d like to see Emily and Lor develop a good relationship as it ends—-they have actually both wanted it but only on their own terms. If there was a 2 hr movie, the show would be ending and there would be no more need for conflict. I think that’s what they were going for in the last episode with continuing Fri dinners but it went too quickly, only a couple lines. It would be great to see on the screen that Emily accepts Lor for who she is and what she’s accomplished and that Lor would recognize that occasionally Emily may know a thing a two from all her years.

I think this is a great idea. Then everyone would feel satisfyed with all the unfinished story-lines actually finished.

I think the hardest person to get to do it is alexis– by the way she responded to the news! why is she so “SLOW”, she needs to stop being selfish- who cares what the story lines are.
the actors even admitted that they can’t remember the last episode the shot, so whats the big deal?

i own all six seasons of gilmore girls and when i heard that season 7 was the final season i freaked. gilmore girlsmust go on, there is still so much to there story and life that hasnt happened, its been the best tv series and with the fans help and support gilmore girls should be brought back to the air

That was the best news!!!! Hopefully it will happen. I wonder if Amy did see the finale. She must not have been happy with it and she had wanted to end it with those mystery words. We need more closure to Luke and Lorelai, Lorelai and her parents, even and maybe Luke and Emily and Richard because I would like to see them accept Luke and that he is good for Lorelai. I hope Alexis says yes. What’s one more Gilmore Girls episode. Doesn’t she want to make the fans happy at all? The fans are the ones that kept her in a job for seven years. Anyway this is great news.

wow~! i mean wow guys… this is huge! I think ASP realised how shit her series ended and she’s like nope i cant let this end this way… the movie sounds weird… but a 2 hour episode would suffice for me… and then…

but um… what about the set being torn down? will they have to make another replica set for 2 hours worth of footage?

Do you even realize how happy i am to know the Gilmore Girls might be coming out with a movie? That show was my outlet for years. When i was upset, i watched it. When i needed advice, it was on my television. It always helped me through everything that might have gone on. I am seriously the biggest fan, EVER.
Thanks so much for at least, contemplating on bringing a movie to tv. It’s going to be amazing.

I grew up with this show. I got so many things from it my coffee addiction, my relation in fast talking ways, My love for music. I loved the charecters like they were my own family. It was a source of information advice familiarity and comfort. When I heard this was it; I Was beyond sad but I partially accepted it. I was ready to accept the finale as it was. I mean I KNEW LUke and Lorelai were back together and Rory was on her way BUT to hear ASP wants to make a movie has got me Jumping up and down and going WOo hooo!!!!

IM SO FRACKING PSYCHED!!!!!!!!

All I want is my Luke and Lorelai marriage ok? I was like 100% invested in them. IT phsyically hurt to see them apart at the beginning of this season and I loved watching them come back to eachother but we the fans deserve a L/L payoff!!!!! OK? I want to see the two of them walk through that Chuppah he made her. I want it to be CUTE!! I want it to be loving and sweet and I want to be so happy I cry…. I love them together SOooo much . Id love to also see that Rory really dose make it and fall in love. THAT would be full cirlce. Lorelai would have it all. THe whole package. ROry would have everything that Lorelai wanted for her and it would be sooo great that I could die

SO I will start praying now Because this would be the BEST THING EVER!!!!!!!!

Oh man!

I just watched Alexis on Letterman…..and saw a clip of her new movie “I am Reed Fish”.

Can I say……the acting is like high school, maybe worse! Alexis is so stiff both in the interview and in the movie clip. :(

And her response to a GG movie is she’ll read the script first? HA!

Kid, trust me…..this might be your final entertainment opportunity. Tell your agent to “book it” if Amy and the rest of the crew will agree.

Not meaning to be mean, but ……. well, you know. You have a moment to be brilliant, and Amy and Lauren made it work for you. Go with what works…

They are only just screening season 5 here in Australia. I had to buy all of the seasons, because i couldn’t wait any longer. It will be bittersweet when i can purchase season 7. I would love 2C a movie produced. Can’t get enough of those gilmore girls.

I think that a Gilmore Girls movie sounds great. I also think that Rory and Logan need to get back together and actualy get married this time. I know that most of you will not agree with me on this, but I think that Logan needs to say that he is sorry to Rory for giving her an ultimatum like he did. I mean he just said all or nothing. Rory stood by him when he had to go to London for a year, and he did not want to stand by her until she was ready to get married.

Sherman-Palladino long maintained that she always knew how Gilmore Girls would end, even saying she knew what the final four words of the series would be. However, she left the drama at the end of its sixth season, meaning her grand plan was never put into effect. The cast’s reaction to the movie was mixed: Scott Patterson, who played the romantic lead, told TV Guide he “would seriously consider it”, while Alexis Bledel, who starred as Rory Gilmore, said it would depend on how she feels about the series in the future. If her plan comes to fruition, Sherman-Palladino reportedly hopes the movie will premiere in 2008 or ‘09. Wait, wait, wait. Gilmore Girls is ending and Luke and Lorelai are not married? That’s terrible. It’s so very wrong to end the show without tying up loose ends. How likely is there really to be a 2-hour tv movie fixing everything? It seems like a long shot and it would be terrible if the original cast were not involved. The show is only so lovable because of them.

Still I sincerely hope they tie it up nicely for us fans and viewers, with Lorelai and Luke marrying and living happily ever after because she absolutely cannot die a lonely spinster. As for Rory, it’s more appropriate that she stay young and independent. Besides, Logan was never really right for her.

Did you ever lose someone suddenly to illness and there were so many untied ends and things you wished to express before the person passed on? Well, that was how I felt upon learning that GG was prematurely coming to an end. Upon just learning that ASP might create a 2-hour movie to tie up those ends and clear any doubt was definitely good news bringing back my faith in humanity. The only thing though is the word “might.” To ASP as well as to all the fine actors who were with us in our livingrooms every Tuesday evening, come through and give us this. Thank you!

A movie is never enough a season 8 is even not enough - we need at least 4 more seasons - “Reasons4seasonS” and there are a lot reasons for at least 4 more seasons - for Amys seasons! We want her 100%! Please do it right and not wrong. I’m against an end in any form movie or season 8. I think GG deserves at least 4 more seasons! And that’s not impossible. Look at 7th Heaven. Even less successful than GG and got 11 seasons! Or Daniel Palladino said:”But we wanted to break Bonanza and Gunsmokes rekord.”
Bonanza had 15 seasons! I’m ready to wait for all these seasons but my biggest nightmare would be a movie to end GG or a season 8 to end it. If season 11 would be the end i’m totally for it. GG can still tell many stories! Like Amy said to an end

I have seasons 1-6 waiting on season7 to be released, and pray for season 8, this is such a GREAT show it really needs all the loose ends tied up, so so long as Lorelai does not end up with Chris.

Unfortunately Paige, season 7 is not out in Australia, as I have tries almost every where, even written to Warner Bros (Australia). The release date here is April 2008, which really, really SUCKS.

I think the writers knew what they were doing - the show began with a single mom and her single daughter and it ended with a single mom and her single daughter. Poetic bliss.

Besides, “Jess” is way better as “Peter Petrelli” - much cooler and much hotter. I’d hate to see him removed from Heroes to do something a lot worse, like coming back to Gilmore Girls so he can be rejected again. Boo to that! Bring back Chad Michael Murray for some laughs instead.

What? Like Logan WASN’T a bad influence on Rory? Come on, she stole a boat, dropped out of school and didn’t follow through with her dreams when she was with him. She basically became Logan’s trophy girlfriend.

Jess and Rory at least had a real relationship of equals and he was successful in his endeavors in the end. He made Rory feel like herself and not someone else. He was a much better match for her and kept her real while she kept him grounded.

The movie idea isn’t that bad if it would be Amys 7th season as a movie because then she could still produce more seasons. After all I want to know what had happened in her 7th season. Two episodes of the 7th season of david s rosenthal were fine, the other were kind of bad. Who knows if Luke and Lorelai had married in Amys 7th season? And even after a marriege still the story can go on. I think there are still then many stories to tell … and 7 seasons are too less for Gilmore Girls. Even Lauren Graham said she would hate to see the show with a wedding. We need more seasons. Under 10 seasons, what a shame … this show could reach so much more seasons… and Rory can’t get married, she’s too young… but in season 13 or 14 she could do it … that would fit the story … don’t make it unrelistic… fact is we need more … a lot more seasons…
