Lauren Graham in “Flash of Genius”
Lauren Graham has been confirmed to co-start alongside Greg Kinnear in "Flash of Genius". Lauren mentioned the movie in her chat last week, but Variety & MTV confirm the news.
Greg Kinnear (Little Miss Sunshine), and Lauren Graham will star in "Flash of Genius," a drama directed by Marc Abraham with Universal Pictures and Spyglass. The movie is based on a New Yorker article by John Seabrook, and is a true story. Kearns spent most of his life standing up for himself - and in the end won his suit.
Kinnear, who plays Robert Kearns, is the inventor of the intermittent windshield wiper, and has spent most of his life in legal battles with automakers over it. Lauren Graham plays Phyllis Kearns, his wife, who has to deal with her Robert’s obsession and its strain on their marriage and kids.
“It’s going to be a great movie for [Greg],” Graham declared.
The flick, which is tentatively titled “Flash of Genius” centers on Kearns’ David vs. Goliath fight against American automakers over the use of his innovative design, Graham said.
“He felt his patent was infringed and he spent his life, not just trying to get money, but also fighting for the rights of inventors and patent rights,” Graham divulged of the film’s plot. “It is a small, beautiful story of this one man taking on these big companies.” The inventor won multi-million dollar judgments against Ford and Chrysler in 1978 and 1982. He died in 2005 at the age of 77.
Lauren did comment, however, that though she is psyched for the film, she is a little sad about playing another wife role. I think Lauren is meant to be a movie lead, but she’s yet to be cast that way.
Production begins in July in Toronto.

Lauren is probably the person who deserves a movie lead the most! She is an amazing actress! She shouldn’t be just a secondary character anymore.

Since I am from the suburban area of the Motor City (Ford, GM, Chrysler home base) I will not miss this movie. Beside, I like Greg Kinnear and, of course, wouldn’t want to miss seeing LG.
As for LG carrying the lead in a movie, the powers that be would have to be assured she had the power to bring in big bucks before they would cast her as lead. She would have to be a modern day Diane Keaton - and I don’t think she is far off from hitting that pinnacle because she is excellent at comedy.

I’m cartainly going to watch it.
..And yes, Lauren certainly deserves a lead role, cause she is the best actress ever. Someone who makes everybody fall in love with a character and with her, it’s an amazing person as actor. Lauren deserves the best. She didn’t win the Emmy that time, but one day she will win an Oscar.
Lauren is unforgetable, incredible, lovable, amazing…you must have notice that i use i lot of “amazing” when i talk about her, well, because she is!
…Lauren deserves the best, cause she is the best.
One day, one day she will have her lead, if you know what i mean. Lauren is already a legend.
chatty.

I am completely in love with Gilmore Girls, particularly Lauren Graham, but sometimes that is no good, because I like movies just because she is in them. Seriously? Because I Said So was a joke. I mean LG was fine as an actress in it, but the movie was dumb. I still love it though, just because she’s in it. For this movie, I saw the preview but wasn’t paying that much attention. I thought it looked good before I even noticed that it was Lauren! The only thing is that I feel like she will be playing the same character as she did in Evan Almighty. I mean wife to the main character AGAIN… I totally agree she deserves her own movie. Otherwise, pretty soon she will be playing wife in every movie. She would make an excellent lead. I hope she doesn’t get so famous that people forget her Gilmore Girls days, though!
