Lauren Graham on Conan O’Brien

Lauren Graham went on Conan O’Brien - the interview is quite hilarious. It starts off with some Gilmore Girls stuff.
Lauren talks about how she went completely Gilmore-Girls-blank as soon as she finished taping. Couldn’t figure out the importance of the monkey lamp. And people come up to her and say "Oy with the poodles already" which also draws a blank. Ah, two classics! Ok, we really need to write to Lauren to remind her about these.
Lauren Graham then talks about her upcoming movie with Matthew Perry and how their "romantic" rumors have sparked again. Matt apparently makes fun of her quite a bit, but in a funny way, calling her "Fatty" - a Studio 60 reference to Amanda Peet.
In the first half, Lauren also talks about her coffee excursions to Dunkin’ Donuts in Connecticut - and the "quick and delish" Rachel Ray line that gets absolutely stuck in her head.

Ok, I have to say that I love how comfortable Lauren is during interviews. She just cracks up and says the funniest things in the funniest ways. I mean, the fake-building-the-ark bit!

Dont get me wrong i love Lauren but i am a bit disapointed that she claims to have forgotten or not remembered anything from the seven years of Gilmore Girls how could it all just fly out the door as soon as she finished shooting the show?, it just annoys me a bit that she doesnt really care or not that she doesnt care but she just shrugs and laughs it off when maybe she could be a bit more serious.

Charlene, I get what you’re saying but it just doesn’t work like that. Actors often don’t watch their own shows and almost never rewatch them. The typical fan undoubtedly knows the details more than the actors.
Watch this one while you can. NBC takes its copyrights seriously. This will probably get pulled today.

I love Lauren on Conan,she is awersome and very funny person.She is so hilarious on Conan.I love it when she talk about she took monkey lamp from Gilmore Girls and talk about Matthew Perry.I love it when Lauren said you cant stop the sun,lol.She make me laugh so during watch she on Conan.Lauren is so better interviews with conan than Leno.I love her very much.

i think it’s totally normal that she doesn’t remember those things. We are the fans, we are supposed to remember those things. Lauren works really hard, she doesn’t have time to watch GG. She worked 14 hours a day, to make one episode. We, as fans, rewatched GG for a million of times, that’s why we remember those things.
That happens with every single actor.

The monkey lamp was the lamp Lorelai and Rory got after exchanging the crystal candel sticks that Emily gave them as a gift. they hated the candel sticks so they got the lamp instead and Ovey with the poodles already! was a catch pharse Lorelai made up (in case anyone wanted to know!!!!!!!!!!!!)
Totally True about the “fans” knowing more about the show and remembering the great moments. I am a beginning actor and I totally understand not remembering your lines for a previous monologue or script you had to memorize, cause I mean after seven years of memorizing line after line you tend to forget after storing the lines you currently need to know. So don’t give her such a hard time cause the amount of dialogue Gilmore Girls had was a lot not to mention the speed and timing! But I do agree that we should tell her the significance of the Monkey lamp and the phrase “Oy with the poodles already” because Oy is a funny word and poodles is a funny word (I think that’s how it went right?)

I think she is talking a bit strange in interviews, to fast and not calm at all. But that doesn’t have to be a bad thing, and she is funny.
ok lauren graham is deffinately one of the funniest people ever. lol the way she talks about matthew perry and building the ark. i think they should get back together theyre an adorable couple seriously haha.

honestly, it makes me kind of sick to think that Lauren doesnt remember the monkey lamp, and even worse that she doesnt remember ‘oy with the poodles already!’. that was one of her trademark lines that she has definitely said more than once on screen. true she is hillarious and seems fun, but Gilmore girls took up 7 years of her life, and she doesnt remember a lot of it? thats like not remembering most of anything that happened throughout middle AND high school. thats really sad.

it doesn’t suprise me that she forgot about GG. shes done it for seven years, 150 episodes, many many many takes, and scenes. to me its ok.

i loovveeee Lauren Graham and she will forever be my favorite actress but as most people have said, i was very disappointed that Lauren didn’t remember the monkey lamp and oy with the poodles already, i basically cried. well here is how i view it… it is like a relationship , like what gilmore girls and i had together, i fell in love with the show for 7 years and then one day someone ends the relationship(Gilmore Girls)/(Guy/girl)…. and your stuck there wallowing and mourning it each and every day since May 3rd while the other person is off saying, “ohh i don’t remember any of those memories i had”(Lauren Graham)/ (Guy/Girl). and the other person flaunting around going on (interviews)/(friends) saying it is a releif that its over and done with while you are still crying your eyes out and it hurts and they are sooo happy as can be and get along making (movies)/(or going on dates) or a relationship would be dating other people…….. i hope someone understands what i’m trying to say because then i sound like a complete idiot lol…. its easier to act out like i’ve been doing to my friends and family since ive been watching Laurens interviews starting with her on Ellen .. so the end and hopefully someone understands what im trying to sayy
Since the show ended and I found this website, I am truly grateful for everything so wonderfully provided on a daily basis. The only thing is…is that with the photos and info of the set being pulled down, more and more exit interviews, it just seems to breakdown the Stars Hollow magic and truly illustrate that Lauren Graham is not Lorelai and that her job as Lorelai has ended for her as well as us. I will always be a fan of Lauren Graham’s and the show, but I just want to hold the lives of these dear characters together as long as possible I guess and not hear about the end on interviews as job that is over. After all reality has no place in Stars Hollow right?
The actors very rarely every watch the work that they do. In fact the only time they usually every see their own work is when they’re either reworking scenes or they’re at their own movie premiere. It’s unfair of us as fans to not realize that alot went on behind the scenes to make each episode happen. When you have to memorize the kind of dialogue that the show had in such a quick manner, obviously it’s easy for your brain to get fried from that sort of work.
With the amount of lines Alexis and Lauren had to memorize, and due to the fact that they never watch their own work, you can’t blame them for not remembering a couple sentences they said some seven years ago. THe monkey lamp was from the first season, that was a LONG time ago.
BTW, Lauren looked absolutely fabulous in this interview. I always love her interaction with Conan. they have great chemistry.
I Agree With Everyone. I Dont Think She’s Forgotton EVERYTHING She Did On GG, But Most Of Us Cant Remember What Happened In Like Second Grade. She Put In 14 Hour Days Just So We Could See An Episode That Following Tuesday. I Appreciate Everything She Did For Us. We Should All Send A Thank You E-mail To Her Telling Her We Still Love Her.
I Am However So Happy Lauren Got A Job So Close To The Ending Of GG. I Knew Someone Would Sweep Her Up In A Matter Of Minutes! She Is Such A Talented Person And So Funny. I Hope She Does Well In Her Future In Acting

First if u watch lauren’s early movies ( suma them) u will see that lauren talks super fast naturaly and talked like that even b4 GG nd thats it not a ahbit she developed from it. second of all, all the people who are upset that she doesn’t remember GET OVER IT ND DONT DAWG ON LAUREN!!! it’s totally not her fault don’t talk until u do it.

I love Lauren, she is hilarious! And I think it is totally fine that she doesn’t remember the monkey lamp. a) it is from seven years ago and b) she has had to memorize so many other things and there was only really one scene involving the lamp, the rest of the time is was just sitting there.
Also, she was in the July issue of In Style Magazine if anyone gets a copy. She was in the Guilty Pleasures section.
Also, Lauren was mentioned in the Chicago Tribune, under Maureen Ryan’s favorite women on television. This is what she said-

hahaha, last night i watched the episode where lorelai and emily talk about the monkey lamp. i yelled (as if lauren was there next to me) “Thats your lamp lauren, remember that episode and scene now?”

I don’t care, that she doesn’t remember and i’m happy that she isn’t the same as Lorelai, even if i really like lorelai, but in my opinion, Lauren is even better than lorelai.
