Fall TV Shows
Ausiello has up his list of favorite shows for fall, which include some all the Gilmore Girls cast pilots, and I have some updates on Matt Czuchry’s show Gravity as well. Aliens in America is in Ausiello’s top 3! Go Scott!
Totally Obsessed
Pushing Daisies (ABC)
Aliens in America (CW) [Scott Patterson]
Reaper (CW)Solid/Not Quite Spectacular
Journeyman (NBC)
Bionic Woman (NBC)
Dirty Sexy Money (ABC)
Women’s Murder Club (ABC)
Sarah Connor Chronicles (Fox)
Back to You (Fox)
Gossip Girl (CW)
Chuck (NBC)
Samantha Who? (ABC) [Melissa McCarthy]
Return of Jezebel James (Fox) [Amy Sherman-Palladino]
Private Practice (ABC)
According to Matt Czuchry’s co-star Ryan Merriman, "Gravity", which was originally slated for Fall then for post-Christmas, may now only be a "long shot" to make it into next season (sounds like Fall 2008). Originally, the pilot lost its show runner and things fell apart, putting the project on hold. Too bad!

I’m certainly going to watch The return of Jezebel James, from Amy and Dan!
It must be wonderful, supergreat, just like GG was when they were still in the show!
…I’m going to watch it and think:
” That could be one of the things that Lorelai would say, if Amy was in the show”, “That could be one of her lines”.
….Aw, i miss my girls, my Amy’s girls!

I am surprised he didn’t include “Back To You” on Fox in the fall w/Patricia Heaton and Kelsey Grammer. Now that show looks like a big hit.
I will certainly be watching ASP’s show and Melissa Mc’s show despite MA’s secondary review. Not so sure about watching Aliens because its on the CWTV.

Oops, just noticed his secondary review of “Back To You”. My error. My review of that show is that it looks hysterical and Grammer is on his game.

I notice that his lists aren’t in alphabetical order, so I’m taking it that he’s listing them in order of preference. That said, general observations:
1) He seems to be taking it on a lot of faith that whatever worked for him about the pilot of Aliens In America is going to be retained in any recasting. Show chemistry is a tricky thing and to be very honest, the footage that I keep seeing of the original pilot tends to involve the father.
At the very least, if I were him, I’d put Aliens, Private Practice and even Life Is Wild into a “Waiting to see an episode with the new cast member(s) before judging it.”
2) As I’ve cracked before, they just don’t seem to be able to come up with a title for the amnesia sitcom, so I think they should just go to the opposite extreme and come up with a new title for it every week. Since it’s a show about amnesia, it’d be, like, Method Series-Title-ing. Either that, or it’s going to attract critic comments of “Amnesia comedy is instantly forgettable.” You *know* they’re coming. Oy.
3) Interesting that he seems to have rated Jezebel James so low. Between that and Amy making sounds about wanting to do a Gg movie, I’m wondering if they already know that the show’s going to get more of the “Drive” treatment (burn it off starting in March or later) than the Unit/Numbers treatment (get 13 full episodes in the middle of the season.) In any case, it does seem like enthusiasm for Jezebel James is waning.
4) FTR, 90% of new shows get cancelled in their first season. So I’m not really rooting against any of the over a dozen series above — especially since none of them are reality shows. Just to show that I’m *trying* to keep an open mind about The CW, I’m already planning on seeing The Reaper pilot presentation at Comic-Con in two weeks.

I can’t wait for Gossip Girl, for anyone who misses the OC, Gossip Girl is the show to watch! Has anyone read the books? I love talking about them :-)
