Liza Weil’s new projects

by Arieanna on July 12th, 2007

liza weilLiza Weil has been working hard since the finale of Gilmore Girls. Liza is pictured to the left in a new smoking hot haircut and look in a photo by Christian Horan.

Liza Weil has been working on three projects: "Order Up", "Little Fish, Strange Pond", and "Neal Cassady."

Liza completed a short film called "Order Up" with Illeana Douglas and Ethan Embry. The plot outline simply states "A man walks into a diner, and has trouble ordering." Liza’s character is a Hippie Patron.

"Neal Cassidy," also done filming, is a movie starring Tate Donovan, Glenn Fitzgerald, Chris Bauer, and Amy Ryan. Liza Weil plays Doris Delay. The movie is about what happened to Neal Cassady, who inspired the character of Dean Moriarty in Jack Kerouac’s classic On the Road. You can read more on the real Neal Cassady here.

"Little Fish, Strange Pond" stars Matthew Modine, Callum Blue and Adam Baldwin, with Liza playing Norma. According to Variety, Helmer Gregory Dark has completed production on the independent film, which is a dark comedy. The story centers on a Puck-like character who wanters the streets of LA philosophizing about life, death and free will. Beautiful women are found dead and dismembered in his wake "leading to a true criminal uncovering the misdeeds."

I’m very much looking forward to seeing Liza again on screen. The first two projects are slated for 2007 while Little Fish, Strange Pond is slated for 2008.

I’m glad that Liza is working on new projects — unfortunately, one’s a short and all three appear to be indies, which means, once again, a Gilmore actress is being horribly underused. OTOH, with the cancellation of Gg happening so abruptly, it’s not as if too many people on the show besides MM had gotten a fair enough warning to be up for sitcom roles this pilot season.

But yeah, that hairstyle is awful. I don’t know if she’s *trying* to look like a young, possibly heroin-addicted Jane Lynch (of the Christopher Guest movies), but that’s what that head shot makes her look like. I want to see Liza gainfullly employed, so I think it’s time she, like, changed agents (or if she did change agents, to change back.)

Kind of like her new hairdo….more sophisticated.

So the films are independent films - Parker Posey is the queen of the independent films and she is doing wonderful. She will continue to do well in the industry.

Parkey Posey is no longer the Quite of the Indies — she sold her soul to Jezebel James. ;)

OTOH, Lauren seems to be doing a lot of indies. IMO, not a fair trade. (Grr! Argh!)

I was expeting some news related to Liza. Paris was my favourite character and I think Liza is such a talented actress. I want to see her winning an award in the near future (not an emmy! those bastards…) because she clearly deserves it.

so what does everyone have against indies?? indies are usually way better than big blockbusters, in my opinion

Stephanie - I agree with you. Some of the best films I have ever seen have been Indies e.g., “Pieces of April” with a babyfaced Katie Holmes; “Little Miss Sunshine” and scores of others. Thank goodness for them because the so-called blockbuster movies can be mundane.
