em’s Stars Hollow Pics
To go along with em’s Stars Hollow Tour story, here are some pictures. There is sadly very little left of Stars Hollow, but it brings back a lot of memories! Many building facades will stay up to be used by other shows, movies, and commercials, but they won’t have the Gilmore Girls identifying marks on them like signs.
Stars Hollow - currently being used by American Eagle

Rory’s Study Tree

News Stand

Miss Patty’s

Luke’s Diner

Gas Station stopped at by Hep Alien at the end of their tour, Season 6

Thanks em!

the only good thing I could think while looking at the pics was that at least the sets are actual buildings and not temporary sets so if they do a Gilmore Girls Movie the sets would be the same you know?

These aren’t sad. If you ever watch The Dukes of Hazzard, these places in these pictures have *all* been up for a minimum of 25-30 years apiece. They can be repainted and refurnished in a snap because that’s what studios do.
Add to that that the only *interior* sets that would have to be rebuilt would be the Dragonfly, Lor’s house, Luke’s Apartment, the interior of the Diner, the interior of Doosey’s Market, the Gilmore Mansion and Mrs. Kim’s antiques (okay, and Lane & Zach’s apartment), and you’ve really only got around 50% of the sets that the show had this year. Since the show wouldn’t have to worry about anything having to do with Yale or Logan anymore. Logan’s apartment(s), his office, Yale, including the dorm rooms, Yale Daily News, the restaurant/bar, the cafeteria, the classroom, the instructor’s office (actually, you put a wall in the middle of the Yale Daily News set and 2/3rds of it is a classroom and the other 3rd is the teacher’s office (all of them ever used, either office or classroom) — the Yale set, including Rory’s dorm room, btw, was HUGE and entirely on a single interior soundstage. Even the stuff that looked like it was filmed outside was filmed on the same soundstage with lighting that looks exactly like daylight. Okay, not the stuff that was actually filmed at USC for Go Bulldogs! and Unto the Breach and TKBNO. Setbuilding is very, very, verrrrry easy and made all the more easier by the show not requiring half of what it had this season. What’s hard is getting the network, the studio and the actors — err, actor — back to the negotiating table.

The pictures of stars hollow are nice to see even if there are no more episodes. I think hey if there is a movie then stars hollow buildings could be used. I miss gilmore girls bad as I have watch the show every tuesday night for 7 years-since my son was 3 years old alot of memories attached to this show with alot of laughter.

Rob, I’m pretty sure that the things inside Luke’s, Doose’s, and Kim’s Antiques where actually shot inside of the buildings that were used for the outside shots. I have seen behind the scenes pictures that show cameras inside Luke’s along with entire crews. You are right, though, about sets easily being rebuilt. Half the time the tour guide was talking about sets and how they were easily made to look real even though they were fake (plastic bricks with staples in them holding them to a wall, hallways that lead to nowhere, ect.) and how they would build entire sets for one episode then take them down after filming. So it wouldn’t be a problem at all to rebuild any sets at all. Like I said before, even part of the Gilmore Mansion (which is entirely in a soundstage, even the outer shots) is still standing, just being used for another project. The whole town has been used over and over for multiple things besides Gilmore Girls.

ok listen, yes gilmore girls was a great show, but i do believe that, that was all it was, a great show…i mean i agree that it was the best while it was on the run, but we all need to move on, there will be other shows. mourn for now, but not forever, in a way a happy thought. :^

BTW, I’m at Comic-Con in San Diego right now and saw the pilot of the Warner-produced NBC show “Chuck” — appears to have repurposed parts of either the Yale set (the exteriors of Yale that were actually interiors on a soundstage) or the exterior of part of the Gilmore mansion to stand in for a party location. Too bad for Chuck that the show sucks — note, I’m a comic book geek and I hated a comic book show, mind you. It’s good for Gg that the sets will be able to be re-repurposed back to Gg as soon as we can get them to revive it.
