Aliens in America to premiere Oct 1
Aliens in America is set to premiere on October 1 at 8:30 on The CW. According to Playback, The CW has ordered 13 episodes, so we’ll be seeing lots of Scott Patterson this fall!
U.S. net The CW has commissioned the first 13 episodes of fish-out-of-the-subcontinent series Aliens in America, a comedy about a Pakistani teen who moves in with a white-bread Wisconsin family. Produced by CBS Paramount Network Television and Warner Bros. Television, the program went to camera in Vancouver on July 30 with a wrap date of Oct. 25.
Perhaps owing to the fact that studios in Vancouver are booked with other series, Aliens began shooting in a former Chrysler dealership
Echoing the culture clash storyline of Little Mosque on the Prairie, the series tells the story of an outsider teen (Dan Byrd of The Hills Have Eyes) whose mother enlists him in his school’s international exchange program to find him a cool foreigner friend. Much to their initial consternation, they get a devout, quiet and nerdy Islamic teen (Adhir Kalyan from Fair City). The two unlikely teens form a friendship that helps them navigate the treacherous waters of high school.
Amy Pietz (Caroline in the City), Scott Patterson (Gilmore Girls) and Lindsey Shaw (Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide) costar. The L.A.-made pilot was reshot in Vancouver following some cast changes.
