David Sutcliffe Joins Private Practice

by Arieanna on October 23rd, 2007

David Sutcliffe has landed a role on the Grey’s Anatomy spinoff, Private Practice. The new series has just been picked up for a full season and is doing well in ratings.

David Sutcliffe will play a love interest for the show’s lead - Addison (Kate Walsh).

Currently, Addison is dating a different guy on Private Practice. Starting to sound a little Christopher-esque?

Well, we don’t know yet if David’s character comes in after the end of Addison’s current relationship, or is the cause of its demise. I’m interested to see how that plays out.

One bonus for David Sutcliffe: he’s not likely to have an entire fan community up against him. Christopher was not the favorite Gilmore Girls character (at least, not in later seasons).

Addison isn’t dating anyone right now - she and another character have some chemistry, but aren’t dating.

in the words of lucas danes..”geez”. there goes another perfectly good show ruined. ok..maybe that’s taking it a little too far. but no lie people’s hate for christopher runs pretty deep so i dunno if they can see david in a different role and like him. i know i can’t.

Now that I know that he will be on Private Practice that show is off my list. There are enough excellent shows on this season for me to be very discriminating. The fact that he will be in my face whenever I watch my DVDs of Gilmore Girls is bad enough I am not going to seek him out in whatever show he might be appearing in.
I just don’t think that DS has a great screen presence nor such a wide range or depth as an actor. I think he looks goofy most of the time.
I never saw great chemistry between him and LG on GG, while others did, so I guess chemistry really is in the eye of the beholder.
Another poster wished that he had joined Grey’s instead. Perish the thought!
Maybe this role is just to tide him over until he can play LG’s love interest in her upcoming new tailor-made TV role on NBC.

I have been watching Private Practice since episode 1, and David Sutcliffe is going to ruin the whole thing. I love Private Practice, but I don’t know if I can stand it!!!!!!!! This stinks.

I love David Sutcliffe. I was a huge GG fan, and I loved Christopher. So everyone stop hating. He is a great actor.

Ann, it’s OK for you to love Sutcliffe/Chris, but you cannot tell “everyone to stop hating him”. I don’t “hate”, I dislike. I don’t like Sutcliffe, I did not like the character he portrayed on GG and nothing will change that for me. Sutcliffe does nothing for me so he is all yours to enjoy.

I think people are taking this way too seriously. He is an actor playing a role. The fact that so many people are passionate about his character says what a great job the writing and overall acting was. I wish him the absolute best of luck. He as well as the rest of the cast deserve it!

I like Kate Walsh and I love the character Addison, but I think Private Practice is somewhat lacking, even though I do watch it. I like David Sutcliffe as well and though at times we all may have hated Christopher, he was also quite lovable on several occasions. I’m excited to see David Sutcliffe on Private Practice. Maybe he’ll improve it by adding a new dynamic to the show.

In the meantime chill and check out some vampire action and loving on Moonlight. That show has all the elements of a great series.
