Gilmore Girls Episode Recap:
Stars Hollow town meeting. Luke flips out about upcoming Stars Hollow Battle re-enactment - since there was no battle, really. He can’t stand hearing the story.
Lorelai smells snow. Then re-listens to a sweet message left by Max. Over and over. Rory comes out. They talk over Lorelai’s love of winter.
Lane has a crush. Rory grabs cookies for Dean from the Inn and is teased by Sookie & Lorelai. Lane looks sad - she no longer has all of Rory’s attention, and does not have a boyfriend either. They sing "Cookies for the Love and the Dean" as Rory leaves.
Dean arrives. Poor Lane looks so ‘third wheel’. Rory had Dean read Jane Austen.

"Flakeage has begun"
Lorelai says to make a wish with the first snowfall. Emily calls to say a storm has hit Hartford. Rory got a ride from their chauffeur, but Lorelai declines to drive on the black ice. Rory will be there alone - and spend the night.
The re-enactment begins. Lorelai is cheered by it and the snow. Luke argues to her that it’s a myth that lets you think the past was more charming than it was.
"When I was five, I had a really bad ear infection, and I had been home in bed for a week. And I was very sad. So I wished really hard that something wonderful would happen to me. And I woke up the next morning… and it had snowed. And I was sure some fairy godmother had done it just for me. It was my little present."
Luke smiles when Lorelai says she still thinks snow is her present. It’s a beautiful thought. Luke shares a memory of his father doing the re-enactments. And invites Lorelai in for coffee (such a sweet gesture!) but she wants to enjoy her present. Oh what a look Luke gives her as she walks away!
Lane is setting up for the band, as part of the re-enactment. Her band partner, her crush, is there. And she is so mesmerized by his hair that she touches it! Everyone laughs and she runs away.

Lorelai gets another present - Max was driving through town, and his car broke down in Stars Hollow. Date time!
Emily’s cook can’t make it, and she is panicing about dinner. Rory says they can whip up something from the kitchen. Emily & Richard go to learn from her. Rory prepares frozen pizza.
Max & Lorelai get take-out. Rory looks around Lorelai’s old room and sees some candids of her and Christopher.

Lane is at Rory’s house - she pages Rory - she’s upset that Rory is not there for her (in general). She mentions the hair touching. Lane accuses Rory of having everything - she’s at Chilton, or talking about it, or is with Dean. The phones cut out.
Lorelai takes Max to the town movie ‘theater’. They kiss!
The Gilmores love the pizza! They look over Lorelai’s old photo album. Rory gets to witness her grandparents relaxed, flirting, and reliving old times. They come across the picture of Lorelai in her Debutante dress - which she never got to wear, with the pregnancy. Sobering moment.

Luke takes pity on the re-enactment guys, they are just covered in snow. He brings them coffee. Poor Luke receives a big shock when he sees Lorelai with Max. Kissing. Lorelai hesitates when it comes time to inviting Max in. She keeps her life away from her life with Rory. She has never brought a man to her house.
"At some point in you’re life, you’re going to have to think that some guy is worth opening that front door for. I am just volunteering."
She determines that he is worth it. They are about to ’skip’ coffee… but there is Lane. Lorelai realizes something is wrong by Lane’s choice of music, upon retreating. Lorelai helps Lane through the hair trauma. Lorelai advises her to judge herself not on the screw ups, but by how she handles them.
Since Lane is staying over, there is no action for Max in the picture. Lorelai runs her hand through his hair… and walks upstairs with a ‘this sucks’ look on her face.
Rory gets a ride home. Lorelai runs down to warn her about Max.
"It’s the snow. You know how I get. It’s like catnip."
Lorelai apologizes for breaking the rules. Rory is weirded out. She doesn’t know exactly why. Laurelai assures Rory it won’t happen again - that, when it does, it will be ‘the’ guy. Rory apologizes to Lane - Lane admits she was jealous of Rory’s great life.
Rory sees Lorelai laughing with Max. She takes out the picture of Lorelai and Christoper - the only other man Lorelai has been as happy with. Hard on Rory.

I lol’d hard when Lane touched Rich’s hair.
Max was a pretty good guy back in the early days, though I don’t like the way he pushed Lorelai into letting him in like that.

I love jealous and sad Luke-when he saw Lorelai with Max during snow and kiss.I love that part-when Lorelai touch Max’s hair and smile at him then I love her face expression and make me laugh.I love this episode.

1. I Love the idea of making a wish by first snowfall, I think it will be my new tradition when I have kids, that will be fun..
2. I do think Rory was being unfriendly to Lane. She acted a little selfish, although, I can imagine she wanted to share all her spare time with Dean (he’s cute!)
3. Yes, I think Luke believed that! I bevieled it! I love the chemistry Lauren and Scott share. I was SO disappointed when they broke up… In this season you can see their love for each other, you can feel the great chemistry!
4. I think Rory was hoping Chis and Lorelai would be together some day and they would be a happy family… I feld sad for Rory that scene…

I have never witnessed a snowfall, I live in warm weather, too bad!, but I think is very in character of Lorelai to do that
Was Rory being unfriendly to Lane?
-Dean was her first boyfriend so it was quite normal that she wanted to spen her whole time with him but it was also normal that Lane felt a bit jelaous and lonley, specially in her trapped life
How do you think Luke felt, seeing Max? Do you think he believed they shared a meaningful ‘moment’ earlier?
- I think Luke did feel something for Lorelai in the talk, her crazyness about snow is exactly why Luke is atraccted to her, and seeing her with another man just moments later, was painful for lonely Luke…
What do you think Rory is thinking when she looks at the picture of her parents, after seeing Lorelai and Max?
Maybe she wishes someday to share her life with a family (of mom and dad) specially at that time that she just came back from grandparents’ and saw them together

I haven’t made a wish during the first snowfall because it doesn’t snow where I live!! How sad?? :( I am sure that Rory was thinking about her dad and maybe…missing him?? what does anyone else think? Every kid wants both of their parents together!! :( Everyone also knows that Luke has a thing for Lorelai!! Who knew he could be so shy?? aaaah!! (that was a crazy sigh! LOL)

I just thought this was so funny and I had to post it somewhere. I was watching the extras on my Gilmore Girls DVDs, and in one of them Amy mentions that the town is based on the town of Washington Depot, Connecticut, and me, being my curious self, googled Washington Depot, Connecticut. What I found was the website of Washington Depot Connecticut. When I clicked on it, the first thing I saw was “Special Town Meeting” and I started laughing. Here’s the link if you want to see-

I was born in Illinois, but now live in Texas. When I was young my mother would wake us with the first snow, she thought it was magical, so therefore we thought it was magical…Yes, Luke was sad seeing Lorelai with Max. He would watch her from afar, yes, he was pineing for her. She was his Ava Gardner….
I do love the scene, when she first sets eyes on Max, and they both have this gigantic smile.
Max has great hair, how sexy is that, when Lorelai runs her hands through his hair.
It is a natural yearning to want your parents to be together. But, of course, Rory just wants her Mom to be happy….
