Photos, Recap & Discussion

Discussion Questions:
- In the last episode, it seemed Mrs. Kim was impressed that Henry was Korean. So why is Lane so badly punished?
- Why does Sherry go on and on the way she does? Why does she think herself ‘pressing’ enough to cancel on Rory’s dinner? Is that self-importance or lack of social tact? Or just blind eagerness?
- Does Sherry seem like Chris’ type?
- Did Chris spring Sherry on Lorelai by accident or by intention, perhaps out of spite for the Max thing?
- Emily accuses Lorelai of not helping get Chris’ life together. Do you think that is true? Or perhaps did Lorelai’s refusal to marry Chris do just that?
- Did Lorelai keep Chris at arms length out of fear for being close with him, as Emily suggests?
- Does Lorelai have regrets over how she treated Chris?
- Does Lorelai speak her heart to Chris because she is jealous or are those her true feelings?
- Was Lorelai right to share those things with Chris? Was he justified in his reaction?
- How does Luke feel seeing this fight?
Gilmore Girls Episode Recap & Photos:
Luke’s is having a lull so Lorelai & Rory have their pick of tables. Rory gets a call at the diner. Twilight Zone-y to Lorelai - Outer Limits-y to Luke. Lorelai apologizes for not speaking geek. It’s Lane - she is grounded, even from school, because of Henry.
Paris drops by the house to work more on their debate. She says Rory is not talking fast enough. Chris calls to say he’s near Stars Hollow, and Lorelai invites him to hear Rory’s debate.
Rory walks by a pay phone and it rings. It’s Lane - she is desperate for a new CD.
The debate, on doctor assisted suicide, begins. Lorelai and Sookie cheer on Rory. Paris picks the Pro side for her team, and Rory begins their opening. Chris arrives - with Sherry. Lorelai’s face falls. Paris concludes with her rebuttal of the other team’s arguments - and the other team is crying. Lorelai sneaks a peak at Sherry. Paris & Rory win.
Sookie and Lorelai are impressed with Sherry - quite pretty. That qualifies her as a ‘witch’ in their books, of course. Sherry gushes about how happy she is to meet the famous Rory. Lorelai drags Rory off to confer - it may be rude not to invite them over. So, they race home to clean up before Chris & Sherry arrive.
Sherry is complimenting up a storm. Just can’t stop praising everything about Rory. Sherry doesn’t get Lorelai’s jokes. She insists on helping Lorelai get water. And immediately brings up Lorelai’s past relationship with Chris and the awkwardness of her being there. Sherry says that there is no reason for Lorelai to get to know her, but she does want to get to know Rory. Chatters on about her relationship with Chris, bonding with Rory, etc. Sherry even suggests that night for Rory to spend more time with her.
Lorelai calls her own number to secretly tell Rory about what Sherry asked, to prepare her. Rory agrees to go with Sherry, and Chris with Lorelai to the Friday dinner.
Lorelai makes a point of asking Chris why he didn’t tell her Sherry was coming. Chris wants Lorelai’s opinion on Sherry. She won’t comment, but admits their conversation was odd. Hints that she thinks Chris influenced the "don’t push a relationship" line Sherry was spouting. Lorelai says she is in the picture because she is Rory’s mom - Chris agrees. But shoots back about Lorelai not getting Chris involved when Max was in the picture. Lorelai admits Chris was not a part of that equation.
Emily seems uncomfortable learning that Rory is off with Sherry. Sherry, sales rep for Loreal Cosmetics, took Rory to a movie and dinner. Lorelai can tell Emily is on the offensive. Wants to know if Chris plans a family with ‘this woman.’ If she’s living with him. Emily is angry at why Rory is missing dinner.
Emily is angry with Lorelai for letting Rory go - says that Sherry is getting her claws into Rory. It’s just a start. Already jumping to conclusions about Rory living part time with them. Christopher is getting his life together with Sherry - but Emily says it should have been Lorelai. Emily says she’s heartbroken that Lorelai, Chris and Rory won’t be together. She accuses Lorelai of making no effort to be the person to help Chris change his life. That Lorelai keeps everyone at arms length.
Luke notices Lorelai is not herself and even offers to play bagel hockey with her. Lorelai pumps Rory for details on Sherry. She was what she seemed, and was out to bond. Rather touchy feely. That sounds like Sherry is in wedding mode - and wants at least 2 kids. Lorelai asks if Rory ever pictured Chris in their lives - she says yes, in a way kids always dream of their parents being together. Lorelai asks "should it have been me?" but Rory runs out to meet Lane.
Rory has an elaborate delivery system to get Lane her CD involving a Kirk distraction and a jogger drop off by Michel. Who wasn’t told the drop off was an hour later and is very tired.
Chris and Sherry come to say goodbye to Rory. Chris apologizes for the previous night. While Sherry & Rory are outside, Lorelai tells Chris that she’s always had him as a prospect in the back of her mind. And that the prospect was on hold while Chris got his life together. She says she probably sabotaged all her relationships because she was waiting for him. But she shouldn’t have - and now that she sees Chris with Sherry, she can move beyond it.
Chris gets mad at Lorelai for putting that on him. Dumping 15 years of bad relationships on him. What was he supposed to say to all that? He gets up and leaves. Luke hears and sees the whole thing go down. And outside is a mini family moment with Chris, Rory and Sherry.

a long time ago we were wondering where we found it that kirk’s last name is gleeson…and i don’t remember if anyone ever posted it but i finally found it…
it’s in episode 3.04 “One’s got class and the other dyes”
it’s the episode where lane dyes her hair because she is trying to make a statement to her mom, and she is explaining to brian that her mother hears non-christian music from long distances, and so lane says for example her mother ran out and heard kirk playing with his band the KIRK GLEESON 5! and that’s that.

I am not a huge fan of this episode mainly because I don’t like Sherry. It was incredibly rude of her to go into someone else’s house and disrespect them. I don’t even see why she felt she needed to get to know Rory so well. She should have taken some time to get to know her without attacking her and begging her to hang out. Lorelai always gets beat up by her parents for ruining her life, and I never enjoy those episodes because they should see what she became on her own, without having to use her parents’ money to earn it. That’s something that they should have respected.

Well, if Sherry is the fast talker she sounds like, wouldn’t that attract Christopher to her because it is similar to Lorelei’s snappy talking?????
Sherry is like a dog, marking her territory as shown w/Lorelei in the kitchen conversation. That being said, Sherry’s apparent selfishness is shining through.
I think Emily will always long for Christopher, Lorelei & Rory to be a solid family - it is a natural longing for a mother. I have always liked Christopher even though he was off and running while Rory was growing up. However, Lorelei did make it very easy for him to be gone.

i think sherry is the kind of person that is nice to some1 when needs it, but totally rude when she doesn´t. for example: here she´s rude to lorelai, but when she´s having a baby and needs some1 to help her, she´s all smiles! pathetic!

I don’t think sherry is so bad if anything i think she was nervous. she was probably very self concious about chris and lorelai being together again and she was trying to hide as well as possible. due to her job she’s naturally a talker. she just wanted to establish herself in rory’s life and was definetly trying to mark her territory to lorelai so that lore knows that sherry is chris’ girlfriend and according to her she’s here to stay. i think sherry was just being sherry but i don’t think she’s bad and i don’t not like her, but it’s not like she’s my favorite character anyway.
