Return of Jezebel James slated for March 14 premiere
The Return of Jezebel James will be making its Spring 2008 debut a little late in the season. It’s scheduled premiere date is March 7, 2008. (Update: FOX just announced a revised premiere of March 14 with a special preview on March 12)

The show, created by Amy Sherman-Palladino and starring Parker Posey and Lauren Ambrose, has already had a shortened season determined from FOX. Paired with the writers strike and mixed early reviews, it’s unclear how the fate of this new comedy stands.
That said, I am eager to tune into more of Amy’s trademark comedic writing and to see what she can do with the series.
The show also brings in another Gilmore alum, Scott Cohen (Max Medina), and we have that to look forward to as well!

Yep - can’t wait for this show. I have high hopes.
I was slouched out on the sofa the other night watching “Samantha Who” and my husband saw Dina/Sookie and said “I know her!” …. :)

I love Melissa McCarthy/ Sookie but she is just not the same on Samantha Who? Whenever I watch it I expect Lorelai or Jackson to walk right in…

I will be very interested to see how ASP can create a whole new character w/out it bleeding into Lorelei/Rory. I hope it is a winner.
As for M McCarthy - she need not be Sookie to enjoy her in Samantha Who. Look at Scott Patterson’s character in Aliens….so far from Luke Danes.

Pamela, ROTJJ isn’t a winner. Its schedule was whittled from an initial order of 13 down to 7 episodes — and this was before the strike. One of the thespians on the show (not a Gg alumni) reportedly had significant problems with line memorizations (I’ve read anecdotes from two different people who sat in on two different tapings. Same problem at both.)
The show was originally scheduled to premiere in January, which clearly didn’t thrill Amy in the first place when the show’s winter debut was announced last May at the Upfronts. Otherwise, Amy probably wouldn’t have taken the time to announce that she’s interested in doing a Warner program at a Fox Party. Then factor in the halving of the episode count *and* the delay until March and what you’ve got is what always happens when Fox delays a show until March or later: it’s what I’ve come to call as “pre-cancellation” of the show. Just like with Drive, s2 of Tru Calling and several other series.
And I’m not even saying that the show is necessarily bad. It just has had major behind-the-scenes problems, little and then vanishing support from Fox and a March debut. Even if the show is good (and it’s Amy, so it should at least be watchable), shows don’t survive on Fox with that sort of treatment.
