Photos, Recap & Discussion

Discussion Questions:
- Lorelai seems to be over the fight with Luke, which is odd given their history. Was she satisfied the fight was over when Jess left?
- Why is Dean not more angry?
- Does Rory want Dean to be mad? To break up with her?
- Does Richard want Lorelai to stick around because they bonded or because she’s efficient?
- Does Rory want some of the blame for the accident?
- Do you find it odd that Rory doesn’t bring up the animal when defending Jess?
- When it came to Rory spending the night with Dean by accident, Lorelai defended her good judgment. Why not now?
- Is Luke sad that Jess is gone?
Gilmore Girls Episode Recap & Photos:
Rory is concerned still about the Luke & Lorelai "thinglet" fight. Lorelai says it will all be fine, they’ve fought before - but they find Luke’s is closed. It’s never closed. The sign says "gone fishing!" Lorelai doesn’t want to admit their fight is the source of Luke leaving.
Lorelai & Rory go to ‘The Hungry Diner.’ Freaks out the waitress with her request for massive doses of coffee. Bad coffee. Lorelai spots Michel - this is his breakfast spot. Upset to have Lorelai invade it. Rory asks Lorelai to get her out of Friday dinner. Dean is coming home and Rory is afraid someone else will tell him about the accident.
Lorelai tells Emily that Rory is sick. Richard is working - really working. He has rented an office and Incorporated a business - The Gilmore Group. As International insurance consultant. Richard is annoyed that his old secretary won’t join him in his new business. With good reason - Richard was not matching her current salary. He actually considers not going into business now. Lorelai assures him not all secretaries are duds - there are more Margie’s out there. His office is a mess and he doesn’t know how to do things - Lorelai volunteers to come by and help organize his office and find him a new Margie.
Rory hands Dean a letter. Asks him to read. Stops a few times to say ‘what?!’ and kick things. At the end, asks if Jess is really gone. Both Lorelai and Rory are questioning why Dean didn’t ask more about the accident or the night. Lorelai says to just start over - that Dean knows Rory would not hurt him.
Lorelai walks into Richard’s office and starts to set things in order. No office supplies yet, so Lorelai takes him to ‘Office Barn’. They snag a red coffee machine. He is in awe of all the supplies and how much he needs. They are both having fun though.
Stars Hollow is getting a music shop - Lane is thrilled. Rory goes to apologize to Taylor - her car hit the bench with the new Doose’s sign on it. Taylor blames it all on Jess. Thinks Rory would not be involved in ‘anything like that’ if it weren’t for Jess. Sophie’s Music opens. The store owner encourages Lane to sit at the drums.
Richard’s office is organized perfectly - Lorelai made a good temporary Margie. Emily calls and Lorelai takes great pleasure in playing a flirty young secretary to freak her out. Emily is having an office launch party organized there for Friday.
Babette goes on about morals and every good woman having a wolf ready to lead her astray. Basically blaming Jess and thinking poorly of him. Creeps out Rory with her "I was in a cult" story. Lane says she’s found her calling - to be a drummer. No idea how yet.
Lorelai helps Richard interview new secretaries - he is rudely disinterested. Lorelai is a gem - anticipates everything for him. He doesn’t want to look elsewhere. No chemistry with those other girls. Lorelai has to tell him bluntly she can’t come back - she has her own job. He’s hurt.
Lorelai is not happy with other food options. Rory apologizes - that Luke is gone because of her. And of course Lorelai blames Jess too. Rory is angry.
Richard has hired Karen. Emily loves her. Lorelai congratulates Richard on landing a big contract just then.
Emily freaks about Rory’s arm. Gets mad at Lorelai for not keeping Jess away from Rory. Rory is fed up. Says she gave Jess the keys and told him to drive. She told him to keep driving when he suggested going back.
Lorelai takes Rory aside to see why she’s so upset. Rory is tired of being thought of as a mindless idiot being led on buy a guy. Rory wants to know why Lorelai is assuming the worst of Jess - assuming he was a bad driver. Lorelai says Jess is completely out of control and has no respect for anybody. Lorelai chooses to blame Jess because she hates him.
Lane tries to strike a bargain with the music store owner to play the drums. She gets her wish. And plays in the dark - so Mrs. Kim won’t see her.
Luke comes home from his trip, and Rory goes to talk with him. He offers her coffee. She asks if Jess got home ok. And tells Luke that it wasn’t Jess’ fault. He knows.

I completely understand why Luke wouldn’t speak to Lorelai in this episode. I probably wouldn’t have spoken to her either. And I feel bad for Rory in this one. I don’t think she should have felt bad for being mean to Emily because I felt like Emily deserved it.

I don’t understand why every1 blames it on Jess! And Dean didn’t get as mad because he doesn’t want to risk losing Rory and is glad Jess is gone. Hey, um… I forgot when does he come back?
