Gilmore Girls Episode Recap & Photos:
Lorelai offers her garage to Lane for band practice. Winter Carnival is coming. Lorelai and Rory suggest Dave not see Lane in her marching band uniform.
Paris is spacing out in calculus class, doodling instead of listening. Rory lends her notes. Paris cancels a student council meeting, which raises some eyebrows. Paris tells Rory that she spent a perfect Christmas with Jamie and his family. Her first Christmas. And Jamie told Paris he loves her.
Michel accidentally greeted the Hungarian guests with something other than ‘Welcome’. Angry guests. Emily is planning a 60th birthday bash for Richard. There is a ransom for the busboy.
Lorelai screams and drops her mug, then uses it to cover a spider on the floor. Dean comes by with some of Rory’s stuff and offers to dispose of the spider. Rory comes home. Lorelai assures Rory it’s ok to feel weird about Dean not being in her life anymore, even if she is with Jess. Rory takes the box to her room but doesn’t open it.
Jess and Rory are making out as they walk through Stars Hollow. Rory muses on how good it is neither of them have braces. She wants to go to the Winter Carnival with Jess, but he doesn’t want to go. He only went to the other town things to get her - now he has her. He offers to meet up with Rory after.
Rory and Jess were going to go upstairs to make out, but Lorelai comes into the diner with various birthday options for Richard. None of which are good. Rory has got him a Chuck Berry record. Rory offers to find something for Lorelai to give.
Rory bumps into Dean. It’s awkward. He offers to go for coffee. They make uncomfortable small talk at Weston’s. Dean has applied to a state college. Rory’s encouragement made him decide to do more. Dean says it’s weird not talking to her, when they talked every day before. He wants to be friends with her, and so does Rory.
Richard loves all his presents. For Emily, the wonderful night is coming to an end. Trix has arrived unexpectedly. Emily realizes that she has not put out all of Trix’s awful gifts. Trix has come to secure new tenents for her house in Hartford - it was rented to KoRn! Trix suggests they all have dinner at the Inn, so she can see where Lorelai works. Excuses Rory so she can go to the festival. Richard mentions Emily’s cigar humidor, to which Trix mentions one even more historic she has that he is welcome to. Emily is crushed. Trix makes comment about Emily needing to bring out her gifts out of storage.
Sookie has created a special 12-course menu for the dinner. Emily calls - she’s on her way to Lorelai’s because Trix wants to see it. She’s gone to spruce it up. Lorelai yells at her to leave.
Francie has organized the student council meeting without Paris. Though Francie mentions seeing Paris with a ‘boy she seemed to know well.’ There is mansion she wants to get for prom, but they need to secure it fast. And it’s over budget, so the senior gift would have to be a tree, not a telescope. Rory keeps trying to delay the meeting to get Paris, but is asked to put the issue to a vote.
Lorelai rushes home to find Emily in a panic. Emily expects Trix to accuse her of letting Lorelai live like a hobo. Lorelai advises Emily to devise a defense system against Trix. Like Lorelai has for all the things Emily says about her. Lorelai decided to be amused, not hurt, by Emily’s disapproval. Even encourages disapproval sometimes just for kicks. It has set her free.
Rory pulls Francie into the bathroom. Francie seems angry that Paris has a boyfriend. Rory says she will no longer be the go-between. No longer an ally. Threatens to be a pain in the butt for Francie. Francie tells Rory she’ll be sorry to have made her an enemy.
Lorelai and Rory have hidden some of the more offensive items in their house and put flowers everywhere. Trix makes her inspection. Then says ‘let’s go’ without commenting on the house.
Dean and his sister Clara run into Jess and Rory just before Jess takes off while Rory does the carnival thing. Clara invites Rory to come with them, so Jess says he’s going too.
Trix says the Inn is nice. Trix sends her menu back to Sookie with exact times on when to bring each course. Clara won’t stop asking Jess questions. Lane spots them all and calls Rory over to see what’s going on. Jess is very annoyed by Clara, who makes fun of him for not being able to hit the targets in a carnival game.
Jess asks if Rory was planning on going to the carnival with Dean. Rory admits to talking to Dean. Jess seems mad, perhaps both at the situation and that Rory didn’t tell him. Rory won a bear.
Sookie gets high praise from Trix for the meal. Trix drops a bomb that she’s going to move into her Hartford house. She’ll be living there now. Emily is upset. Then takes Lorelai’s advice - says she’s not done her course. Upsetting Trix’s schedule on purpose.
Jess spots Dean alone. Calls him pathetic. Tells Dean that Rory is taking pity on him. And that it’s sad that he thinks being Rory’s friend will win her back. Dean says they are just friends. Just like Rory and Jess were ‘just friends.’ He does have other things in mind.
Lorelai tells Rory that Emily made 4 beans last an hour and a half. Lorelai was proud. Emily comments that Jess and Dean seem fine with the situation now - Laurelai comments that sometimes Rory still seems like a little kid.

Is Paris mean because she has never been loved by family, friends, etc?
I think paris is mean because she has never been loved. Now that she is with jamie is happy.
I love this ep.!

The title of the epi refers to the movie Babe, as that is what the farmer said to Babe the pig after winning the contest and Lorelai says it to Emily (or about Emily) because she had her own little victory by slowing down Trix’s eating schedule by making her beans last for over an hour.
Dean is most definitively pulling a Jess, he pretty much says so and I think Jess is a little intimidated by Dean, but he was feeling a little more secure as he had won Rory over, but I think he is back to being insecure after Dean’s comment about he and Rory just being friends, like Jess and Rory were just friends.
I don’t think that Trix’s silence means disapproval, it seems to me that she is the type of woman to immediately voice her disapproval, and not so much her approval, so silence really is golden in this case I think!

The Spider scene is one of my all time favorite quotable scenes - it was the size of a Buick and it had a gun! I even said that to my husband today when he thought he saw a spider.

Great episode with surprise visit from Trix that can only mean sparks flying. Loved Sookie’s interpretive dance movements to demonstrate how she got that ripped seam in her jacket. Although I like Jess, I enjoyed watching him squirm as Dean developed a new found confidence and maturity level when it came to meeting up with Rory. I felt glad for Dean; somewhat of a closer for both. Clara was cute with her crazy hair comments etc. to Jess.

I like when Sookie demonstrates how she got a cut in the back of her suit. I didn’t like how Jess refused to go to the carnival with Rory. He wasnt being a very good boyfriend. This was a good episode, especially with the Jess-Dean confrontation.

Michel says: “A te országod tele van csúnya emberekkel” which means “You’re country is full of ugly people”.

I love how Lorelai teaches Emily about her defensive system, when her mom freaks out about pleasing Trix (or, rather, not being criticized by her!). Emily’s face hearing about it is very funny.
