Gilmore Girls Episode Recap:

Lorelai has smelled something in the air. She wakes Luke up and rolls him out of bed. Luke grrs and grumbles. They head outside because Lorelai smells snow. Lorelai is remembering how much she loves snow, her favorite time of year. Luke says the forecast didn’t call for snow. But, Lorelai is right. The flurries start coming down. And she grins from ear to ear.

The Revolutionary War Re-Enactment guys are at Luke’s planning for their yearly tradition - standing in the snow. This year, they have new historical facts about a lady who used her wiles to keep a General occupied when he should be at battle - the Stars Hollow contribution to the war!

"A hooker stopped the battle?!" - Luke

Luke cautions Lorelai not to walk too sexy by their table.

There is a dog on Emily’s patio. She calls Richard in a panic about the dog looking at her. Richard comes out, still on his cell phone, with a fire poker, thinking it was a beast of a dog. Richard calls "dog" to come with him to the pool house - it being too cold outside.

The snow at the Dragonfly is beautiful. But, they have no mats to avoid slipping and are getting cancellations. Lorelai wonders why, since the snow is beautiful. Michel suggests changing the cancellation policy - right now there is no charge to cancel. The snow has made Sookie grumpy too. They are almost out of coffee. And it turns out the snow ploughs have blockaded the Inn. Sookie takes away Lorelai’s cup of coffee - customers come first.

Paris is annoyed to be on hold with C-Span. Chris pays an unexpected visit to Rory at Yale. He wants Rory to play hookie and go for breakfast with him. Rory refuses.

The Inn is empty, and one set of guests are AWOL. Lorelai was in the dining room attempting to merge the leftover coffee from people’s cups into hers! Lorelai slides her way to the door to run out for coffee.

Emily knocks at the pool house to see how the dog is doing. Richard took off his morning to care for it. And has found out which breed she is from online. She’s a long-haired Jack Russel terrier. Richard pulls up the Louis Vuitton website to show Emily how great the Internet is.

Chris has decided to be persistent - he’s waiting for Rory after her class, hands her coffee. Chris apologizes for acting manic in the morning, and coming down without thinking it through. Chris says he hates his relationship with Rory. And mentions his dad is sick, and he’s taken time off to be there. Given him time to think of the issues he has with his own dad, and his issues with Rory. He wants Rory to want to visit, now and in the future. He admits it wasn’t fair of him to drop all this on Rory, and leaves.

Stars Hollow is auditioning for "girl" - the hooker. Taylor is not impressed by their ‘come hither’ looks. Kirk tries to coach Lulu from the sidelines. Taylor sees Lorelai and offers her the job of the ‘woman without virtue,’ but Lorelai passes. Then gets stuck an ice-covered puddle, and is all wet. But makes it to Luke’s for coffee. Kirk comes bursting in saying his ‘girlfriend is the whore’ triumphantly.

Emily is calling around the neighborhood to say they have the dog. Richard comes in needing a bowl for the dog’s food. Leftover meat from a stew. Emily is stunned that Richard is eating stew. She shows her concern and asks that he eat better. Richard thanks Emily for the help and concern.

Lorelai is making the dress for the town prostitute, and is very proud of how her slut dress looks. Rory notices no talk of the first snow from Lorelai, and Lorelai said she had a bumpy ride. Too clingy with snow. Rory doesn’t tell Lorelai that Chris came by. And Lorelai has a leak in her roof.

Snow has lost favor with Lorelai - has blocked her Jeep in completely. And a branch snaps off a tree and lands on the car as she stands there watching. Lorelai calls Luke to help dig out her car, or attack the snow in her case. It’s personal, now. Lorelai and snow, they are over. Angrily, she also says she’s going to change her cancellation policy at the Inn to full price, and a kick in the groin. Lorelai continues her crazy rant about how much she hates snow, and how it’s a personal attack on her. When it starts to snow, she swats at it.

Rory and Lorelai arrive to the pool house for dinner. Emily is there too, but only to sit with the dog. A he dog, Richard has corrected. Richard refuses to ignore Emily as she asks them to. Emily and Richard are sharing some cute smiles.

Emily shares news she thought the girls would already know - Christopher’s father has died. Emily says it’s sad, what a tortured relationship Chris had with his dad. Chris and Gigi are staying with his mom for a while. Rory is really sad. And she privately admits to Lorelai she knew her grandfather was sick. But not how she knew. Rory seems surprised it was that serious. Richard & Emily mutually fuss over the dog.

Rory drives to see Chris, who looks horribly upset. Rory has brought milk and cookies. And goes inside for a while. After she comes out, Rory calls Lorelai and tells her everything about Chris that she’d been hiding. Rory now feels sorry for Chris - that he needs the, but is isolated from them. He needs them, but can’t reach out to them, particularly to Lorelai. Rory wants Lorelai to come there to see Chris - which is good, because Lorelai is pulling up right behind Rory’s car. Lorelai has brought her own brown bag - of booze.

Lorelai has a bad hangover after forgetting to drink water the night before. Must have pancakes. Kirk runs into the diner in a panic to talk with Taylor. Who is not there. Kirk assures Lorelai that Lulu’s dress fits like a glove. Lorelai stayed late with Chris, worried he doesn’t have many friends anymore. Chris was glad Rory came too, that they figured out their issues.

Lorelai was going to tell Luke about Chris, it seems, but Rory covers it and lies for her. Lorelai is annoyed for lying to Chris, which maybe she would have done even if Rory hadn’t done it, but it doesn’t sound good to be up with one’s ex all night drinking. It was good to lie to Luke.

Time for the re-enactment. Taylor comes out on his horse, as the general. And is intrigued, and then stunned, by Kirk playing the prostitute. Lulu got sick, so Kirk put on the dress and is playing the part. Taylor is livid, but they have no choice but to go on.

Emily comes to check on the dog, who is once again determined to be a ’she’. Richard says the owners came to pick her up. Richard didn’t want to disturb Emily by calling, although she says now it would’ve been ok. The dog’s name was Princess. And, without the dog to talk about now, it seems like Emily & Richard don’t know what to say.

Lorelai comes home to a surprise - Luke has built her an ice rink! Luke feels guilty by contributing to Lorelai’s hard time with snow, with his own surly comments. Luke doesn’t want Lorelai to be grumpy about stuff. It’s time to get Lorelai and snow back together.

Luke knows Lorelai was lying this morning, but he only thinks Lorelai looked bad. Lorelai is able to say she just had a headache. Lorelai skates around her ice rink, with Luke watching on.

    Yep, it’s actually “morals”.

It could have been a perfect episode if Lorelai hadn’t lied.
