Gilmore Girls Episode Recap:

Lorelai is putting on her boots, sitting on her new bed in her newly furnished bedroom. Rory is in the bathroom getting ready, only hogging one of the two sinks. Decadent. Rory has yet to meet Paul Anka, he’s been hiding. Rory has a new list going of stuff to accomplish during her day, from settling things with Yale to cramming in more community service. And some time with Lorelai, of course.

Rory yells up that Paul Anka has emerged. He’s sitting on the coffee table wagging his tail. Rory tries to shoo him off the table. As part of the introducing and bonding, Lorelai sends Rory to put sugar on her toes. Paul Anka licks his greeting.

Lorelai brings down a hat box full of notes she took anytime she had a topic or thought she wanted to share with Rory during their separation. They attempt to decipher them on the way to breakfast at Luke’s. Everything from Kirk skeet shooting to Babette cutting a record of her cats’ meows.

Lorelai halts Rory at the door to the diner and goes inside first, doing a drum roll and then announcing Rory. Luke welcomes Rory and seats them at the best table, which he’d been saving for them. Rory asks if anything is new with Luke; he says there’s not, while looking concerned. Rory feels like she stepped into something there, but Lorelai has no idea what.

Lane says the band is doing a showcase next week, and a label will be there! Lane is worried she jinxed it by wondering if the label would show or not, so Rory suggests they do the un-jinxing they used to do as kids.

"Jinx back, double pinkie, round the side, double pinkie, jinx back."

Lorelai wants to learn it. But it’s a serious thing. Rory says the tape of new songs from Hep Alien was great. Lane asks Rory to videotape their showcase, then asks if it will be "Rory plus 1", if Logan will be there. Rory says it’s just her.

Lorelai has the questioning face, so Rory tells her that she and Logan had a big public fight, and she needed a break. That they are not talking right now. They’re on hiatus. Lorelai jinxes her breakfast in order to learn the jinx-back.

Lorelai asks Sookie to step away from her cooking, then calls Rory in. Sookie knocks over some food in her excitement. Sookie is both excited about Rory and about Lorelai being able to set a wedding date. Michel walks in and seems happy to see Rory, but then wipes that off his face. He says it’s "kind of ok" that she’s there.

The band is trying to order their songs for the showcase. They want one more ballad, but Zack is only half-finished with one. He sings a bit. It’s called "Stella" - another song with a girl’s name. Lane gets a little jealous that he hasn’t written a song about her (since his songs are about real girls). He says it’s because only cliche things rhyme with Lane.

Despite the buffet of food that Luke served them, Rory is surrounded by dozens of plates of food that Sookie has just now made her. Lorelai is going through the notes with Rory, which includes one that Christopher called. After she and Luke made up, Lorelai listened to the rest of Chris’ message. He wants to see her. Chris says it will be good for both Lorelai and Rory, which makes Rory suspect it won’t be. There’s only one way to find out… they exchange the new catch-phrases (from the illegible writing on two of Lorelai’s notes): "Brazzlefrat" and "Bendleschnitz."

Liz is borrowing some stuff from Luke, and part of his kitchen, to prepare a Thanksgiving dinner. It’s her first dinner, period. However, her being there is a little intrusive upon the customers of the diner. Luke steps in to help when Liz says she can’t separate the buns due to her carpal tunnel.

Brian, Zack and Lane are in the music store admiring the instruments and equipment. Brian plays a phrase from a song he’s been working on and it impresses them. The song is called "Lane". Brian was inspired from the conversation the day before. Zack looks jealous. Zack wants nothing to do with the song.

Lorelai meets Chris at a diner for lunch. After briefing Chris about Rory taking a break from Yale, then returning, Chris shares his big news. He’s very excited. Smiling, Chris shares that his grandfather died and Chris is now rich! Ridiculously so. He wants to share it. Gigi is all set for life. Chris now wants to take care of Lorelai and Rory. Whether it’s a new car or a tract of land or a brewery - something. Lorelai doesn’t want anything from him, but will tell Rory and let her choose on her own.

Zack is almost late for the sound check for their showcase. Zack brings in a new guy, Joel, to play tambourine. And he bought the expensive headset microphone - the "Gwen Stefani" mic. Lane pulls Zack aside and asks what’s wrong and why he added a band member without asking. Zack says it’s his band, but Lane reminds him it’s a democracy. Zack asks if that’s coming from Brian. Nobody seems pleased about Joel being there.

Paris returns Rory’s call. Rory wants Paris to keep an eye out for a place to live, even though it’s hard mid-year, and wants to re-join the Yale Daily News. Paris has the Yale Daily News working in ultra-silence over the Thanksgiving break.

Lorelai says things with Chris were fine, and tells Rory about all the money. Rory declines the Bentley and the castle, but goes into a stare at the mention of paying for Yale. Rory tells Lorelai that the Yale offer sounds good - it would get her out from under Emily & Richard’s thumb. She doesn’t want to owe them anything, and thinks there’s too much pressure, too much expected. Too many strings. Lorelai says it’s a Freaky Friday moment.

Rory tells Lorelai that she doesn’t know what it was like living there - she’s not worried about cutting her grandparents off. Lorelai reminds Rory she was the "oppressed one", "class of ‘85". Lorelai says there’s no comparing three months to what Lorelai went through. Rory shares her reverend sex story, and Lorelai says they did that to her five times. Rory knows that it’s a slippery slope with Chris, but she wants to do it.

Rory wishes lukc to Lane before the showcase. Zack’s wireless mic is acting up and so is he. He is very pissy, particularly at Brian, who he tells to go write more songs if he has a problem. Right as they’re being announced Zack throws out the set list and says they’ll wing it - Brian complains about their rehearsed transitions. Zack snaps back.

The curtains open and nobody in the band knows what they’re playing and Zack’s mic isn’t working. Zack says they’ll start when he’s ready, that it’s "his" stage. The crowd is angry and Zack kicks Brian as he moves too close to him. Zack says nobody is going to tell him what to do on his stage. Zack decides they should play "Stella", which nobody knows, then kicks Brian again. Gil has had enough and jumps on Zack. The stage erupts with their fighting.

Lane goes behind the club to confront Zack, who is pouting over his broken wireless mic. He says nothing is wrong. Lane cries that they blew their big shot. Zack just shrugs. Lane says he let them all down, but Zack doesn’t want to hear about Brian. Zack says it is what it is, and that’s why people in bands shouldn’t date. Lane cries and says "I guess so," then goes in.

Rory and Lorelai meet up with Chris at the same restaurant. It’s Thanksgiving, the first time he’s ever seen them on Thanksgiving. Rory tells Chris she thinks it would be good if he could pay for Yale. Chris starts talking a mile a minute. He’s so happy to be able to do something for Rory.

Rory goes to answer her phone, so Chris asks about the "E and R" words - Emily and Richard, and that they were paying for Yale. Lorelai says it’s a long story. Lorelai wants it all to be clear about what he’s doing for Rory, but Chris just sees it as doing what he should have done a long time ago for her.

"So, how long have you been engaged?"

Lorelai sighs and asks who told him. Chris laughs and says her finger. Chris says it’s a good thing, he wants her happy. Chris wants to be sure it won’t be a weird thing for "him", with Chris paying for Yale. Lorelai says it won’t be.

Liz’s rolls exploded and she runs upstairs screaming about her turkey. There is smoke in the oven, and Luke checks on the disorder that is her cooking. Aside from the not-red cranberry sauce, it seems under control.

With a concerned look on his face, Luke asks Liz if she has a minute. Luke pulls up a chair and takes a breather. Says that a giant weight is on him and he needs to tell someone. Luke tells Liz he has a kid. A girl of 12. Liz seems happy about it and knows right away that it was Anna Nardini’s girl. Luke says he’s so confused. Liz asks what Lorelai said and the ominous look from Luke is enough to answer that question.

"We’re engaged, we’re on track here, her and me. And Rory’s back, so that’s settled now. We’re in a good place! You know, this could wreck it."

Liz says it won’t, not unless he lets it. Liz asks what Anna wants from him, and Luke says nothing. Anna hasn’t ever called him, not even now. He doesn’t understand why. Did she think he’d be a deadbeat? Luke was frustrated with April too for being too scientific, not wanting to go for ice cream. He’s disappointed that April has no interest.

Luke doesn’t understand why he feels a burden to do something when neither April nor Anna have an interest. They all have their own lives, he shouldn’t worry. Luke says he’s going to let it go.

Sookie has just pulled her third turkey out of the oven. All of the Renaissance Fair people who were supposed to be eating with Liz are now at the Dragonfly - her dinner didn’t work out (her turkey melted!).

Lorelai pulls Luke aside to tell him what the Christopher call was all about. And that she met up with him and he offered them money, and that Rory would be taking money for Yale. Luke is un-phased. Indeed, he says it’s great (and means it).

"He’s her dad. He’s her dad. If he’s got something, he should be sharing it, good for him. He’s been gone most of the time, so he owes you. I’m glad he’s doing it. He’s doing what a dad is supposed to do. He’s taking care of his kid. Good. Good."

Lorelai asks that they’re good, and Luke says they are.

Honor Huntzberger calls Rory to say what a drag it is that she and Logan broke up. Rory looks a little stunned. Honor says Logan is his own worst enemy and apologizes to Rory. Honor wants to stay friends.

Sookie is micro managing as Luke carves the turkey. Sookie takes over. Luke excuses himself to make a private call. He calls information to ask for the Nardini number in Woodbridge. The call is patched through and Luke gets the answering machine. He hears April’s voice on the machine and hangs up. He looks at the phone and sighs.

Luke returns to the table distracted, as does Rory. Neither have a smile for all the food as it’s ushered out.
