Marion Ross on being Trix
Marion Ross was recently interviewed by Popwatch about everything from
Happy Days to Brothers & Sisters. Readers were asked to submit questions, and one was about how Marion Ross liked working on Gilmore Girls, where she played the ‘Reigning’ Lorelai, "Trix", Gilmore. Marion Ross appeared in a total of 6 Gilmore Girls episodes as Trix. Marion says she loved being on Gilmore Girls.
I was proud of myself because that wonderful Amy Sherman-Palladino sent me the script with a note saying, "I know you’re not old enough to play this part, but we’d love to have you do it," but I was too busy at the time…
Marion continues saying that her agent sent back a note saying she couldn’t take the part. Soon after that, Marion woke up and said to herself:
"Oh, that’s too good a script."
Marion personally called the studio and they bent over backwards for her. Since she was going away on Tuesday, and it was already Saturday, they sent out a hairdresser to fit for a grey wig and the wardrobe people to fit her on Sunday, and on Monday she started to shoot.
"I was so pleased that I made such an effort because otherwise I wouldn’t have gotten to do that, and I love that show. I love that Lauren Graham. I love everybody. Of course, I didn’t have much time to learn the lines, and you have to talk very fast. Ed Herrmann [Richard Gilmore] would walk me around, and say, "You can do it. You can do it. You can do it!"
