Tucker Max has just posted a very intriguing post of how Matt Czuchry came to be cast in the film based on Tucker’s own rather controversial life. According to Tucker, Matt skipped his first audition for the part. After several months of not finding a good lead, Matt eventually agreed to come in and read for the part. Matt admitted he was hesitant about the part, worrying that the part could be played where Tucker is just a "douche" instead of a redeemable guy.
After meeting Tucker Max in person, Matt was sure about how the movie would go, and nailed the audition. As Tucker writes in his post: "Matt is going to do such a good job, he’ll probably end up being a "better" Tucker Max in this movie than I am in real life." Though Tucker admits that Matt is the complete opposite of him in real life - he’s "Humble, empathetic, conscientious, compassionate." You can read more here.
