The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 will be coming to a theater near you on Wednesday August 6, 2008. Starring Alexis Bledel, Amber Tamblyn, America Ferrera, and Blake Lively, the movie follows the four friends in their first year of college. The movie catches up with book four of on Ann Brashares’ best-selling novels.

Tibby, Carmen, Bridget and Lena have been apart all year, and their summer plans will take them even further apart. Each experiences love, freedom, choices and challenges in life as they grow into adults. The girls will find out that it takes more than a pair of pants to keep them together.

"The ‘Sisterhood’ is popular because it’s so relatable," notes producer Debra Martin Chase. "The movies I like best, and strive to make, are what I call ‘universal in the specific.’ They’re simply about life, with themes that touch people, regardless of gender or generation. This is a story about four young women, but it’s also about the kinds of things we all go through to find ourselves and our place in the world."

After a year at Yale, Carmen (America Ferrera) feels displaced at her home with the expectant arrival of a new baby, so jumps at the chance to work backstage at a theater festival, catching the eye of the play’s leading man and finding a new love in acting. Tibby (Amber Tamblyn) is in NY working on her NYU film project and taking her relationship with Brian McBrian (Leonardo Nam) to the next level, confronting her own fear of love.

Bridget (Blake Lively) struggles with the loss of her mother and her past, so goes on an archeological dig in Turkey. But realizes she can’t keep running away from her problems. Lena (Alexis Bledel) has moved on from her first love, Kostos, and is studying at the Rhode Island School of Design, where she crushes on fellow art student Leo (Jesse Williams). Leo flows in and out of relationships easily, a lifestyle that is foreign to Lena. Lena must decide to follow romance or stay true to herself.

With the girls so far apart, and changing so quickly, they will struggle to stay in touch. They will have to learn a new way to share their lives, while also taking the distance they need to learn what they can do individually.
