“Flash of Genius” Telluride Premiere

Lauren Graham’s latest movie, Flash of Genius, has started on a tour of film festivals. Right now it’s gone through a pretty big premiere at the Telluride Film Festival. You can check out some photos of Lauren Graham at the Telluride Film Festival here and here.
The movie tells the story of Bob Kearns, the inventor of the intermittent windshield wipers. While ti is a story of his invention, and of its theft & the coutroom drama that ensues, it’s also about fairness & honesty and how far you’re willing to go, and how much you’re willing to sacrifice, to uphold those things in your life. The reviews of the film have been both up and down. The storyline either compels you or it does not, it seems. Lauren Graham was stuffed into a very flat character, so the true focus of the film is on Bob Kearns, played by Greg Kinnear. He is said to have done a great job in the role.
Here are some reviews for the film:
- Shashfilm calls it "a fascinating family drama" with an 8/10 rating.
- Cinematical gives it a good review, though admits its a mainstream rendition as well as a crowdpleaser.
- Blog Critics calls it bland and predictable, which is rather unfortunate.
- Variety says the film drifts, is flat, and colorless.
Flash of Genius will be in theaters on October 3rd (revised release date).
Other film festivals include the Toronto Film Festival (Lauren to attend), the Boston Film Festival, the Chesapeake Film Festival, opening night at the Aspen Film Festival and at the Woodstock Film Festival.

It is really great that the movie is getting some attention at these festivals. It is fun following them and seeing if Lauren and/or Greg will show up at them. There are some nice pictures, a video interview that was mostly with Greg but also with Lauren and a lot of reviews and articles regarding the film. Some good some not so good, coming from Telluride. I do know that I am counting down to days until I can go see it myself. The festivals are a great distraction until I can see it. I hope that Lauren will be at more of them. I know that she and Greg are listed as going to be at the Toronto Film Festival.
