WB Exec Likes Idea of “Gilmore Girls” Movie

May 21, 2009 by Arieanna

Ausiello rocks. He’s bee live tweeting the CW upfronts today, and has delivered us some Gilmore Girls movie gems. Ausiello says:

Just cornered Peter Roth head of Warner Bros. TV and asked him about a Gilmore movie! He said he likes the idea of a Gilmore FEATURE film as opposed to TV movie

So, is there still hope for a Gilmore Girls movie? Of course! If network execs (Peter Roth is the chief executive of Warner Brothers Television) get behind the idea, magic could happen!

Though sadly CW show Privileged (which had Gilmore Girls writer Rita Mimoun) was not renewed for Fall, Ausiello is comparing new pilot Parental Guidance Advised to Gilmore Girls, saying “it’s illegitimate Gilmore Girls“. I don’t know anything about this show yet to figure out what that means ;)

But Gilmore Girls Movie News!!!!

    RORY&JESS
I totally believe that Rory should end up with Jess. Dean was cute, but also a dumb jock who she didn’t really have much in common with. Logan, cared more about partying, having fun, and himself than he did about Rory and what was best for her. And Rory always winds up cheating on whoever she’s with, cheating with, you guessed it – Jess! They had the best chemistry and were the best for each other personality – wise. The characters were written to be together!!!

    MOVIE
In a Gilmore Girls movie, I would like to see it start with the wedding of Luke and Lorelai. It would take place after Rory had returned from her campaign and is settled into a career at a newspapaer and Lorelai and Luke had had plenty of time to smooze over the big fight/breakup thing. Jess would attend, probably as Luke’s best man. And once you get the two of them together (and single) they don’t need much help from there — Rory is still undeniably attracted to Jess and Jess is still deeply in love with her (just as he always had been)
They FINALLY sleep together – lol – beginning a new relationship between the two. Rory has always found Jess irresistible and i don’t think she would sleep with him and them run off on him. So they are together. I think Rory should be happier than she had been with any other guy ever, and by the end realize that she is just as madly in love with Jess as he is with her. :)

    MILO/ALEXIS
Don’t actors take on what whatever is best for their careers? I’d think with the enormous fan following it could only be a good thing. Especially for Alexis, I love her, but Gilmore Girls is still the best things she’s done. And besides maybe it will rekindle things for Alexis and Milo as well….? =P

JESSICA YOU GOT IT ALL RIGHT!

  5. ggfan says:

I could als o see it rory is have some troubles on the campaign trail so while visiting philly she could stop bye and see her old friend jess. she would tell him about the troubles on the campaign trail and how rude people are and how sshe misses her mom. jess offers some words of wisdom and comforts rory. rory then realizes tghis the guy for her

  6. MNG says:

I would love for rory to end up with logan so making a movie to go around that plot would be amazing!

p.s. Lorelai and Luke should get married too

  7. MNG says:

I’m really sad about the ending and I wished it would have been different. A movie would turn it all around and make everything better. I really wanted Rory and Logan to end up together and I think they would have if the series continued on for a few more episodes.

So anyway, I was watching the last episode again and thought of the perfect ending for me. While, the whole town was throwing Rory the goodbye party, I was thinking that Logan should have been standing in the rain looking at the party. Rory sees him and excuses herself from the party, then they start to talk. Logan tells her that he cannot live on with his life without Rory in it and he is willing to wait for her, even if the campaign goes on for 2 years. Rory then decided to go on with her job but get married to Logan once everything is over. The episode would end at the airport where her mom, luke, grandparents and Logan say goodbye to her and watch her leave.

  8. MNG says:

P.S. if they can’t go on with the movie, I wish they would make a Gilmore Girls special episode on WB (even after 2 years). Like an alternate ending sortof thing just to get everything right.

  9. aja says:

I think in the movie that luke & lorelai decided not to be married @ all, they are more happier than ever.Rory on the other hand, will become a famous journalist, & run into logan somewhere in california, found out that he is married.Jess, could be a famous writer! GO GILMORE MOVIE!!!!!

  10. micx says:

There are so many unresolved parts to this show. When I finished the seventh season I was so disappointed. I really think a movie should be made to tie up all the lose ends. Besides I think it would do really well. For example look at the Sex in the City Movie. It did very well!

  11. isha says:

i think it would do really well too – apart from the diehard fans, there are heaps of people that enjoyed GG more casually and would be happy to pay for a movie ticket if it was written well as a self contained story too. I find it so stressful to watch season 6 because of the last eps with jess – constantly thinking of ways to get them back together! both literati and sophie fans deserve closure either way, nobody got it – its not healthy for the fans like me who get ridiculously obsessed:)and it really is a travesty that paris wasn’t in the last episode.

  12. Danielle (subscribed) says:

When I watched the final episode, I got the feeling it wasn’t intended to be the end….maybe it was.

I would love to see a movie, only because I love the show. Now, I understand that there are some loose ends, but part of me is content with it. You may never know what happens to everyone but I feel like there is enough closure.

I would love to see Rory with Logan…and of course Lorelai and Luke.

  13. merbear93 says:

I think Rory should end up with Logan. I think Luke and Loreli should get married for sure. I think that they should show it a few years latter after they voth get married but show an ocassional flashback of the years we missed or start at the ending of the show and work up from there.I hated the end of the shpw, because i hate things without epilouges. THEY REALLY NEED A GILMORE GIRLS MOVIE.

  14. Cate says:

I would love a movie too! I’m not really sure who I would want Rory to end up with. I’ve thought long and hard about this.

Lots of people want her with Jess. But he was a total jerk in both seasons he was on- first to Dean, then to Rory, and always to Lorelai, so I’m not sure what the deal is with so many Jess fans.

Logan I’m not sure about, but I just can’t see Rory with that type of family. I can’t see her as a Huntzberger.

I feel like they completely changed Dean’s character from a really cool, mysterious big city guy, who liked the same music as Rory- to a dumb, small town, small minded jock who knew nothing about music or literature. I was so disappointed at how they ended Dean’s character- a failed marriage, a cheater, desparate and pining for Rory, nothing interesting about him, bitter, and on bad terms with Luke. That’s just so much different from how he was portrayed in the first few episodes. Maybe that’s why I hold on to the idea of him and Rory. I’d love to see him get his pride and dignity back, find a suitable career, and get back with his one true love. Plus, you don’t always have to have the exact same interests in order to have a good relationship with someone.

  15. Cate says:

And, of course Luke and Lorelai!

  16. Lauren... :) says:

This would be a treat! I’d love to see a Gilmore Girls movie. I think it would be great to see Lorelai & Luke together. In my opinion, they were meant for each other, and it’d be nice to see Rory either get back with Dean or Jess. :) I think us gilmore girls fans just want a really good ending. Please make this a film.
