Who is there for Rory & Lorelai?
June 15, 2009 by Arieanna
In ‘I’d Rather be in Philadelphia,’ I’ve always thought we were meant to compare this episode to the Season 1 ‘Forgiveness and Stuff‘, both of which involve Richard in the hospital.
However, the real comparison (for me) is about how the men in Rory & Lorelai’s lives are there - or not there - for them during these stressful times.
Luke - in Season 1, Luke was there. He even drove her to the hospital. He’s there for her completely, even getting her coffee stolen from the nurses lounge. It was a big step in their friendship - and relationship - for him to be her rock in this time of stress. Again with Season 7, when Luke hears that Richard is in the hospital, he goes right over to help - despite their estranged relationship. He is a huge help to both Emily and to Lorelai. No matter what happens, Luke is showing that he’ll be there.
Christopher - we didn’t see Christopher in Season 1 much, but in Season 7, he’s absent from the hospital. Lorelai has been frantically calling him, but because of their fight, he was ignoring his phone. Lorelai’s messages get more and more upset, saying that he should be there for his wife and that Richard’s heart attack is bigger than a fight. It’s clear Chris isn’t even checking his messages. When he finally does arrive, he immediately starts sulking because Luke is there. He’s not grateful that people are there to help Lorelai, nor does he attempt to comfort her. He cannot get over his own selfishness to comfort Lorelai.
Logan - it’s our turn to see how Logan reacts to stress. Just like Rory dropped everything to be at his bedside after his accident, Logan is putting Rory ahead of his business needs. Turns out, he even flew there by helicopter. Just like Luke, he’s doing what he can to help out the whole family.
In this episode, we see not just the contrast between Luke & Christopher, but also how like Luke that Logan has become. I think this is the first time I made that comparison. I think Rory & Lorelai are meant to see what it means to have someone support them fully, no questions asked. Do you think so?

Gilmore Girls may get 2 HOUR MOVIE
May 23, 2007 by Arieanna
Ausiello is forever my best friend for sharing this great Gilmore Girls news. And so sneaky about it too!
The full quote is below, but the jist of it is this: Amy-Sherman Palladino, the fabulous creator and life of Gilmore Girls, wants to MAKE A 2-HOUR GILMORE GIRLS MOVIE.
Question: So, what gives? There is no way you could still be at Fox’s upfront party. Did you track down AS-P, and, if so, what were the final four words she had in mind for Gilmore Girls?
Ausiello: OK, here’s the deal: Yes, I tracked her down, but, no, she did not cough up those elusive four words. But wait — there’s more. And it’s good. No, amazing. No, un-frakkin’-believable. Amazing, even. Wait, did I say that already? Well, it’s true. Because just as I was about to brand her a big ol’ promise-breaker right there in front of all those industry types, Amy explained why she couldn’t divulge her long-ago-planned Gilmore ending. (Gilmore fanatics: This is the time in Sprockets when you either lean on a heavy object or just sit down.) In the next year or two, she hopes to make — wait for it — a two-hour Gilmore Girls TV-movie that ties up all those loose threads! I nearly fell over when she said it — especially given what she told me back in December. (BTW, lest you think Amy was pulling my leg, her partner in life and in showbiz, Dan Palladino, confirmed that a GG reunion pic is something they’re interested in pursuing.) And I wasn’t the only one floored by this development. "She said what?" gasped Scott Patterson after I relayed the information to him over the phone. "I didn’t think she would be interested in doing something like that. But if she says she is, I would seriously consider it." Alexis Bledel was equally stunned. "A Gilmore Girls reunion?" she said with a laugh. "That’s certainly not something I had thought of doing. That’s really funny, I have no idea how I would feel in a few years. I don’t know, I’m sure the script Amy would write would be great, but I guess I’d have to read it and see how I felt at the time." Last but not least, Lauren Graham e-mailed me late last night to say, "Could be a fun idea if everyone wanted to do it. I would do it just to get the four final words out of Amy. They torture me." Stand by for a comment from Warner Bros. big cheese Peter Roth.
OMG OMG OMG! MORE GILMORE GIRLS. We love you Amy!! And everyone had better say yes!! What better way to tie things up than to have the heart and soul of Gilmore Girls, Amy-Sherman Palladino, paint a picture of how to end Gilmore Girls gracefully!!

Gimore Girls Questions Answered by Ausiello
May 9, 2007 by Arieanna
Ask Ausiello has a lot in it today for Gilmore Girls. It’s a good set of spoilers and answers to questions bugging a lot of us. Including a mini-interview with Matt Czuchry. I am grateful to Ausiello for dedicating most of this week’s Ask Ausiello, and his Vodcast, to the passing of our beloved Gilmore Girls…
Question: How are you coping with the loss of your beloved Gilmore Girls?
Ausiello: I have good days and bad days. Today is a good day, thanks in large part to my friends at Pfizer. Warning to all you GG-haters: Considering this is the last Ask Ausiello of the Gilmore era, this week’s column is a veritable Stars Hollowpalooza. Yep, I’m throwing in everything but the kitchen sink. On second thought, the sink’s going in, too.
Lots more after the jump…

Gilmore Girls Spoilers from Ausiello
May 1, 2007 by Arieanna
It’s that time again. Ausiello has out this week’s spoilers, and here are the Gilmore Girls tidbits:
Question: In response to your answer to last week’s question about Luke and Lorelai’s big kiss in the Gilmore Girls finale…. Yes, I would love to know how much tongue there is.
Ausiello: Do you have no shame? For chrissakes, there are children reading this column! I mean seriously.Question: You may have been joking about "how much tongue" there will be in the Luke-Lorelai kiss, but I want to know!
Ausiello: Enough about the tongue!Question: This whole waiting for an official announcement about the fate of Gilmore Girls is giving me an anxiety disorder. Any new developments?
Ausiello: Not a one.Question: Can you tell us how much tongue is in there? Please.
Ausiello: In where? Please be more specific next time.Question: So how much tongue is there going to be?
Ausiello: I was wondering when someone was going to get up the nerve to ask me about that. I actually don’t know how much tongue there is, but according to a spywitness, the kiss is "relatively long" — at least by L/L’s meager standards. Great question, Sarah!
Ok, so anyone else disappointed by the "saying nothing, very slowly" tone of this weeks so-called spoilers?
