Krysten Ritter (Lucy on Gilmore Girls) hit up the LA premiere of Sacha Baron Cohen’s latest comedy, Brüno. The film focuses on Brüno, a “flamboyant Austrian fashionista” who takes his show to America.

The film had to make a last-minute cut before the premiere last night to remove a “tasteless scene” about Michael Jackson, following the news of the pop icon’s death. Read more

Krysten Ritter (Lucy on Gilmore Girls) co-stars in the Disney comedy Confessions of a Shopaholic, which comes out on DVD and Blu-ray on June 23, 2009.

In Confessions of a Shopaholic, Rebecca Bloomwood (Isla Fisher) moves to Manhattan to pursue her love of shopping and her career in the fashion magazine world. She has a great flat with her friend Suze (Krysten Ritter), who tolerates her crazy ways but can’t reform her shopaholic friend, no matter how much debt she gets into! Rebecca takes a job writing a financial advice column (oh, the irony) as her “step up” to her dream job. Her articles, written for the everyday person, propel her to fame. Which would be great, except for the debt collector hounding her every move.

The movie is poignant at times. It has a classic romance, and fabulous best-friend story, and follows Rebecca as she tries, over and over again, to battle her own demons while still reaching for her dream. It takes Rebecca a long time to learn that her shopping addiction is hurting her - and it takes hurting those around her for Rebecca to ’see the light’, so to speak.

Krysten Ritter had a larger part in the movie than I expected. Her own character, Suze, was spunky and interesting too - though in different ways. As you can tell from the photos, Suze is getting married in the film!

All in all, I enjoyed the movie. It was predictable in a Disney way, but very satisfying. A great chick flick!

Krysten Ritter (Lucy on Gilmore Girls) has had a long guest arc on the AMC series Breaking Bad this season. Her character, Jane Margolis, first appeared in an April episode and became, in time, a romantic interest for Jesse (Aaron Paul).

Melissa McCarthy (Sookie on Gilmore Girls) is currently starring in the Groundlings production Enchanted Forest, which will be playing at the Groundling Theater in LA through to July 18. This comedy show is directed by Roy Jenkins and features a collection of skits by Groundlings members.

Melissa McCarthy, who has been with Groundlings for more than 10 years, delivers in the skit “Soft Butt Firm”. LA Weekly describes the skit with:

“Soft Butt Firm” finds Melissa McCarthy on-target as a sugar-tongued huckster of her recently acquired product — a superabsorbent toilet paper.

Michael Winters (Taylor Doose on Gilmore Girls) is currently starring as Prospero in the Seattle Shakespeare Company production of William Shakespeare’s The Tempest, which is playing from June 4 - 28th.

In The Tempest, Prospero (Michael Winters) is a banished sorcerer and rightful Duke of Milan. He uses his magical powers to punish and forgive his enemies when he raises a tempest (violent storm) to drive them ashore to an island. That island’s native inhabitants, Ariel and Caliban, aid or hinder Prospero’s work. While vengeance is what Prospero seeks, he discovers instead that love and forgiveness are the most potent magic of all.

Krysten Ritter (Lucy on Gilmore Girls) was seen out last night at the Nigel Barker and The HSUS (Humane Society of the United States) ‘A Sealed Fate?’ Photography Exhibition held at a gallery in LA. Meanwhile, Arielle Kebbel (Lindsay Lister then Forester) attended Maxim’s 10th annual Hot 100 Celebration last night in Santa Monica. Arielle was at #48 on the list this year.

Alexis Bledel (Rory Gilmore on Gilmore Girls) sure is making the rounds this Spring! Last night, Alexis headed down to Pier 17 in NYC for a shipboard party held on The Majesty Yacht. The party helped H&M celebrate Matthew Williamson as designer for them.

Alexis, among other celebrities, was seen wearing one of Matthew Williamson’s signature collection, though not the collection you can buy at H&M. The dress Alexis is wearing is Williamson’s Neon baroque jersey beaded mini dress (code 3166787). Read more

Alexis Bledel moved from the premiere of The Good Guy to Tenjune for the film’s afterparty as part of the 2009 Tribeca Film Festival last night.

At the party, Alexis shared that her dress was designed by Cushnie et Ochs, and also sharing some other tidbits about her life: about being bad at buying birthday presents, about her role in The Good Guy, about loving the parks in New York and about the kinds of roles she’d like to play in movies. Earlier this week I shared with you Megan’s experience meeting Lauren Graham on April 17th, and now I have another great fan experience from Michael, who has been a long-time reader of GilmoreGirlsNews.com and is great at passing news tips!

Michael met Lauren on April 17th as well, after a production of Guys and Dolls. Michael was lucky enough to know someone on Broadway who got him backstage access!

I actually got to meet her, and she was SO sweet and nice! I got two pictures of me and her (excuse the zoom). We also told her that we came there for my birthday, so she signed my Luke’s hat Happy Birthday, and also signed my Playbill!!!!! It was incredible!!! While backstage, I saw some of her costumes,wigs, props, sets, and saw where she does some of her quick changes! The backstage is so small that in order to get to the other side of the stage, everyone has to go in a small narrow hallway underneath the stage with all of the tech rooms on either sides. My experience was amazing, and it is the highlight of my life!!!!!!!!!!!
