Melissa McCarthy (Sookie on Gilmore Girls) was a guest star on last week’s episode of medical drama, Private Practice. Did anyone catch it? Melissa played Lynn McDonald, a patient who’s been in labor for two whole days! Here’s another scoop from Mike Ausiello: Melissa McCarthy, who played Lorelai’s best friend Sookie on Gilmore Girls, will be returning to television with a guest role on ABC’s Private Practice. This is super exciting since Melissa ended up leaving her last television role on the failed sitcom Hank. While this is just a guest role, it’ll be great to see Melissa on television again.
Melissa has two film roles in production on her IMDB page, “Life As We Know It,” with Katherine Heigl and “The Back Up Plan”, co-starring Jennifer Lopez.

Melissa McCarthy had joined the not-so-well-received sitcom Hank as a recurring guest star, Dawn, sister-in-law to the main character. Definitely not the main sidekick roles we have seen her do for shows likes Gilmore Girls or Samantha Who?. The role of Dawn will now be acted by Crista Flanagan (Mad Men).

Following the airing of its final episode, Samantha Who? will be releasing its second, and final, season to DVD on August 25th. The series follows Samantha Newly (Christina Applegate) as she attempts to re-define her life after a car accident left her with amnesia. On her road to recovery is her quirky friend Dena (Gilmore Girls’ Melissa McCarthy).

This was a show I really enjoyed, particularly as the second season evolved to involve more plot lines around the sub characters.
