Sean Gunn in KGB Commercials

February 5, 2009 by Arieanna

Sean Gunn (Kirk Gleason on Gilmore Girls) stars in the new ad campaign for the KGB - the Knowledge Generation Bureau. Not the Russian KGB. But a site intending to become a general place for knowledge, but a site more reliable than Wikipedia.

The KGB commercials involve a CIA-like environment with a team of experts who seem to know the answers to everything. The first ad had a woman being interviewed as a new expert; the subsequent ads have her being shown around their facility. Sean Gunn appears starting in the second ad as one of the experts.

Sean Gunn is one of the general knowledge experts and the partner of the new hire. They squabble about how to pronounce “grapple” at first. In the third ad, he mostly just nods and sneezes. In the fourth KGB ad Sean & the new hire take their kbg-mobile out for their first assignment, grilling each other on the way to give a Daiquiri recipe to a couple of bikini-glad girls. That’s the best video.

John Cabrera to Pen “H+” Web Series

December 21, 2008 by Arieanna

John Cabrera (Brian Fuller on Gilmore Girls) has turned his hand from acting to work behind the camera. Together with Cosimo De Tommaso, John Cabrera will be writing and executive producing a new live action web series with Warner Premiere. The thriller series, H+, is a Sci Fi story about a semi-apocalyptic future after an act of cyber-terrorisism wipes out most of the world… the part of the world where people’s brains were hardwired to the Web (Sound Sci Fi enough?).

John Cabrera and Cosimo De Tommaso pitched H+ as a regular tv series, but were persuaded to make it a digital offering. Once the project is complete (maybe mid 2009), it’s likely to make its way to TheWB.com for us to watch! The web series has not yet been cast, though Bryan Singer is attached as an overseeing producer; the project is still looking for a director.

This is not John’s first foray into working behind the camera. He has directed the short film Crazy Love, the featurette The Man Who Invented the Moon, which starred Sean Gunn (Kirk on Gilmore Girls), and Affair Game in 2004 with Liza Weil (Paris Geller on Gilmore Girls)

Sean Gunn in “Humanzee”

November 30, 2008 by Arieanna

Sean Gunn (Kirk on Gilmore Girls) teams up with his brother James Gunn to work on a new show originally created for Xbox Live called Humanzee. James Gunn created the series and also stars in it. Sean Gunn plays his half-human half-chimp son, the Humanzee.

Xbox Live sponsors recently deemed that the show was a little too horror, not enough comedy. In the series, Humanzee likes to kill women and eat babies. So yes, it’s a little “out there”. Instead, Humanzee will be moved somewhere else (James Gunn writes). James Gunn is creating a different story for XBox Live, called Sparky and Mikaela, in which Sean Gunn will also be a part! It will begin shooting this month. Meanwhile, here is the completed trailer for Humanzee:

Sean Gunn also worked with brother James on PG-Porn and on Scream Queens.

Sean Gunn in “Scream Queens”

November 27, 2008 by Arieanna

Sean Gunn (Kirk, Gilmore Girls) guest starred in the fourth episode of the Vh1 reality series Scream Queens, directed by his brother James Gunn. James Gunn also serves as one of the three judges.

The show, which premiered in October, put together 10 actresses searching for their big break. The reality series is searching for the perfect horror film actress (”scream queen”), with the winner getting a breakout role in Saw VI (which will star Gilmore Girls actor Scott Patterson in his third Saw installment).

In the fourth episode of Scream Queens, Sean Gunn guest starred to make a phony movie trailer, the final product of which you can view here:

And here is a video of Sean Gunn and James Gunn discussing the episode:

Sean Gunn at Saturn Awards

Sean Gunn at Saturn Awards

I was doing a little digging around and unearthed a couple of really fun photos of Sean Gunn (Kirk on Gilmore Girls) with his brother James at the 34th Annual Saturn Awards back in June of this year (the second photo is fab). James Gunn was awarded “The Filmmakers Showcase Award” for directing Slither.

If you recall, Sean Gunn has been working with his brothers (James & Brian) on a webseries for Spike.com.

And in the “did you know?” category, one of the characters on the series Angel with David Boreanaz was named after Sean & James!! The character was named Charles Gunn after the brothers. Neat!

Sean Gunn’s Webseries

October 14, 2008 by Arieanna

Sean Gunn (Kirk on Gilmore Girls) has been working with his brothers James and Brian on a new webseries project for Spike.com. You can read all about the series here. The project is of adult nature, although not explicit, so younger readers should not click through.

The series is an adult comedy, devised by the three brothers. James Gunn is the lead on the project, as writer, director and producer, while Sean Gunn is credited with development with his brothers. In addition, Sean Gunn will star in one upcoming episode of the web series, of which I have a few images to share with you!

Kirk is Twittering

October 9, 2008 by Arieanna

Gilmore Girls

Everyone’s favorite Stars Hollow townie is now on Twitter! Ok, it’s not *really* Kirk, just someone pretending to be him, but still fun. I imagine most of you have questions at this point, so let me begin…

What is Twitter?

Twitter is a social networking site. Kind of like Facebook status updates, but on overdrive. Each user has 140 characters to post messages (”tweets”) about what he/she is doing. And other users can “friend” you and reply to your messages. Just like Kirk did for me!

@arieanna Canada! It is great to meet people from outside Stars Hollow. My mother never lets me leave Connecticut

Follow Kirk

When you “friend” someone on Twitter, you are said to “follow” them. So, once you’re signed up, here is where you can find Kirk:

http://twitter.com/starshollowkirk

What Kirk Twitters

Hopefully the person behind this Twitter account keeps up the pretense, because it’s already been extremely fun for me! Some of the messages fake-Kirk have twittered are:

Another lovely morning in Stars Hollow. Taylor is trying to get Luke to put up harvest decorations again. I hope he puts up the turkey. [link]

Almost time for my shift at the Stars Hollow Beauty Shoppe. Taylor makes us spell it that way. Free makeovers for all! [link]

The status messages seem to give us the impression that time has not moved in Stars Hollow, but that Kirk is exactly where we left him. I wonder if the author behind this will pick up and evolve the “story” further?

Thanks to Crosby for the tip!
