Tanc Sade: Exclusive Interview
Tanc Sade payed the Life & Death Brigade eccentric Finn on Gilmore Girls. Tanc was born in Australia and had worked in several theatrical productions, as well as some tv and movie roles, before landing his role on Gilmore Girls.
Tanc and I exchanged emails recently, after I promoted one of his short films, Two Straws, which brought together 2 other Gilmore Girls Life & Death Brigade alumns, Nick Holmes (Robert) and Alan Loayza (Colin McCrae). This was Tanc’s second $20 short, after You Had Me at Hello, with a brand new short released just this week, A New Dawn. This latest film features Tanc wearing a Motion Capture Suit doing a little dance as the Hulk. The film ends with a message about Prop 8: “If the Green Man can loosen up a little, so can you. Support same-sex marriage.”
In the interview below, Tanc talks more about these $20 shorts, as well as some of his experiences on Gilmore Girls. Tanc can also be found on Twitter at twitter.com/giddyuptiger.
GilmoreGirlsNews.com: In homage to Twitter, tell us a little bit about yourself in 140 characters or less.
Tanc Sade: A lucky fella who gets to create art and still put food on the table and keep a roof over his head. It may be simple but it’s a good life…
GilmoreGirlsNews.com: What inspired you to start working on the $20 shorts?
Tanc Sade: Between the economy and the looming SAG strike work had slowed down. As an artist, if I’m not working as an actor, I need to be doing something else. I loved the experience of making Flowers and Weeds and thought it would be great to direct again. By giving myself the limitations of completing the films in less then 7 days and for less than $20, it meant I had to really push myself creatively. I think it has also made me a better director.
GilmoreGirlsNews.com: Where did the idea come for your latest short, Two Straws?
Tanc Sade: No idea. It goes something like this. I want to make a short. I want to work with Nick and Alan. I need to shoot it in one location. OK, two guys at a bar. 10 minutes later I had Two Straws. Read more

Tanc Sade (Finn on Gilmore Girls) wrote and directed another $20 film (a short film made for less than $20 and in less than a week) that brings together 2 other Gilmore Girls Life & Death Brigade alumns, Nick Holmes (Robert) and Alan Loayza (Colin McCrae). This film, called “Two Straws”, tells the tale of 3 men, 1 girl and 2 straws… (Warning: for mature audiences only)
Awesome to see everyone working together again!
Tanc Sade’s “You Had Me At Hello”

Tanc Sade (Finn on Gilmore Girls) is one of many actors who have become versatile in their craft. Tanc has been writing and directing films, including the 2008 Flowers and Weeds. Tanc recently set himself an exercise to make a short film for less than $20 and in less than a week. He hoped to learn more about filmmaking during the process, in the end coming up with this 3 minute film, You Had Me At Hello:
Tanc also appeared in an episode of 90210 last year and is in the upcoming movie, Weathered.

Tanc Sade in 90210

Wow, I never thought I’d get to write about 90210 so much here! But hey, that’s great. The latest Gilmore Girls alum to move over to 90210 is Tanc Sade, who has appeared in a single episode of the series. Tanc is better known to us Gilmore Girls fans as Finn, one of Logan’s crazy Yale & Life and Death Brigade buddies. He appeared in 14 episodes of Gilmore Girls.

As you know from previous posts, Rob Estes (Jimmy on Gilmore Girls) plays Harry Wilson, the dad and principal on 90210, and Gilmore Girls writer Rebecca Kirshner has joined the show as executive producer.
Tanc Sade appeared in the 6th episode of 90210, “Model Behavior“, which aired on September 30, 2008. In this episode, Anni attends a fashion show that her mom is photographing, and is then offered an audition (along with Adrianna) from a film producer there. Tanc’s character, Tom Moreno, is the fashion show producer and talent scout, (not to be confused with the film producer) and perhaps not someone to be trusted. He gets in a bit of trouble with Dixon.
Check out Tanc Sade at about 2:28 in this video montage from the episode:
